[OVERVIEW]

Dragon
========

Dragonite is a powerful wallbreaker and setup sweeper thanks to its high Attack stat and access to Dragon Dance. Its Multiscale ability paired with Heavy-Duty Boots allows it to check many Pokemon, since it can withstand nearly any attack from full HP. It has solid coverage options in Earthquake and Fire Punch to hit Pokemon such as Heatran and Celesteela, respectively, and access to a strong priority move in Extreme Speed to pick off weakened foes. However, Extreme Speed can't fully compensate for Dragonite's mediocre Speed even after setting up. At +1, it is left outsped by fast Pokemon such as Zeraora and Dragapult if running an Adamant nature, and many Choice Scarf users even with Jolly. Once it has revealed its moveset, it becomes easier to check, as, if it's lacking Earthquake, it gets walled by Heatran and neutered by Haze Toxapex, whereas without Fire Punch it can't touch Pokemon such as Celesteela and Ferrothorn. Dragonite may also struggle to find safe opportunities to switch in because it risks getting its Multiscale broken.

[SET COMMENTS]
Dragon Dance gives Dragonite the necessary power to break through opposing teams. It should be used late-game once the opposing team has been weakened. Outrage is its strongest STAB attack, dealing massive damage to anything that doesn't resist it. It should be used carefully, as it locks Dragonite in for a few turns. Extreme Speed allows Dragonite to pick off weakened Pokemon without taking damage and deal with fast threats such as Weavile and Tapu Koko. Earthquake hits Steel-types that resist its other moves such as Heatran, Aegislash, and Melmetal. Alternatively, Fire Punch can be used to hit Celesteela and Ferrothorn. Heavy-Duty Boots relieves Dragonite of worrying about Stealth Rock so it can keep its Multiscale. An Adamant nature can be used for maximum power, whereas Jolly can be used to outspeed Pokemon such as Zeraora and Dragapult at +1 Speed.

As a setup sweeper, Dragonite appreciates teammates that help weaken the opposing team as much as possible before going for the win. Garchomp's Stealth Rock aids in this goal, as it makes it easier for Dragonite to get KOs. Hydreigon is able to threaten Steel-type teams with its coverage, giving Dragonite an easier time due to its exploitable moveset. Dragalge switches in well on most Fairy-type attacks that threaten Dragonite thanks to its Poison typing and good Special Defense. It can also set up Toxic Spikes to whittle down the opposing team for Dragonite. Kyurem is a strong breaker and does well in matchups where Dragonite struggles such as Poison, Ground, and Water. Latias provides Healing Wish support, which is extremely valuable for a setup sweeper such as Dragonite. Dragapult can spread status in the form of Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave and punch holes in teams with its attacks to open up for Dragonite to clean. Dracovish is a very powerful wallbreaker that many teams struggle switching in on, which allows Dragonite to have an easier time sweeping once the opposing team has been weakened.

Other Options
=============

Dragon
--------
Dragonite can use a Choice Band set for immediate power and a fourth coverage move; however, without Heavy-Duty Boots, Dragonite can't preserve its Multiscale if Stealth Rock is up and, as a result, loses a lot of utility.

Checks and Counters
===================

Dragon
--------
**Ice-types**: Due to Dragonite's 4x weakness to Ice, Pokemon that carry Ice-type coverage pose huge threats to it, and STAB Ice-type attacks can sometimes even OHKO it through Multiscale.

**Fairy-types**: Dragonite doesn't run any coverage for Fairy-types, so naturally it has a hard time dealing with Pokemon such as Galarian Weezing and Clefable.

**Status**: Dragonite hates getting inflicted with any status because it severely hinders its sweeping capabilities.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Dragonite may struggle getting past many physical walls such as Hippowdon, Galarian Corsola, and Mandibuzz because they're bulky enough to take a boosted attack and threaten it in various ways.

Since you didn't mention it anywhere in set comments you can add heavy-duty boots to the line about extreme speed. Something about how it lets dragonite come in multiple times with no drawback to pick off weakened foes.

Great job! QC 2/3

"An Adamant nature can be used for maximum power whereas Jolly can be used to outspeed Pokemon such as Zeraora and Dragapult at +1."
- A bit nitpicky, but specify what boosted stat you mean.

Nothing to report really, QC 3/3

Dragon Dance boosts Dragonite's Attack and Speed, giving it gives Dragonite the necessary power to break through opposing teams. It should be used late-game (added hyphen) once the opposing team has been weakened. Outrage is its strongest Dragon-type STAB attack, dealing massive damage to anything that doesn't resist it. It should be used carefully, (AC) as it locks the user Dragonite in for a few turns. Extreme Speed allows Dragonite to pick off weakened Pokemon without taking damage and dealing with fast threats such as Weavile and Tapu Koko. Heavy-Duty Boots relieves Dragonite of worrying about Stealth Rock so it can keep its Multiscale. Maximum investment in Attack and Speed enables Dragonite to hit as hard and fast as possible. An Adamant nature can be used for maximum power, (AC) whereas Jolly can be used to outspeed Pokemon such as Zeraora and Dragapult at +1 Speed.
