I’m still new to the competitive feel for pokemon and was hoping to get a good team ready for multiple battles and actually win some. I would like any and all feedback for this team and would greatly appreciate it if you guys could help.
Swampert -leftovers
Ability: torrent
EV’s 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Attack
Nature: Relaxed
Earthquake
Ice beam
Sludge wave
Protect
I chose Swampert as a lead for the fact that its only weakness is to grass and the fact I can cover that with other members of my team. The reason I put sludge wave is for the chance that they try to send a grass or fairy type to try and take him out with special attacks. He also has great defense being the water/ground type he is and a great tank.
Dragonite - Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
EV;s 252 Attack, 252 Speed, and 4 HP
Nature: Adament
-Dragon dance
-Dragon Claw/Outrage (don’t know which one to go with)
-Fire Punch/Roost
-Extreme speed
I chose Dragonite for the role of a physical sweeper because of his high attack, speed and ability. The main reason I chose him is I based this team mostly around him and since my favorite pokemon(Salamence) is not in OU anymore I had to make do with the one I like second best. This set is more for late game sweeping than early game set up. Dragonite overall hits hard and fast and for those unprepared for his speed he will end up sweeping you.
Slyveon - Leftovers
Ability: Pixelate
EV’s 252 HP, 4 Defense, 252 Special Defense
Nature: Calm
-Hypervoice
-Wish
-Protect
-Healbell
I chose Slyveon for the position of a cleric to alleviate any status given to my other pokes while also being able to wish pass and be a special defensive wall. I was having a hard time finding anything to fit in this spot and for my special sweeper but Sylveon does a nice job of warding off dragons from trying to take it down and walling anything trying to take out my other pokes.
Slowbro - Mega Stone
Ability: Regenerator
EV’s 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Special Attack
Nature: Bold
-Calm Mind
-Slack Off
-Psyshock
-Scald
I chose Slowbro as my mega cause he is a good defensive wall and if it comes down to it he can set up and sweep people unprepared for the calm mind and slackoff. I also needed something to cover my mega slot because going into this metagame without a mega is hard for the newcomers and I hope to eventually be able to make a team that works well without it.
Gengar - Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EV’s 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Defense
Nature: Timid
-Substitute
-Disable
-Focus Blast
-Shadow Ball
I have had success with this setup in the past but Gengar is just something I slapped on this team when I just couldn’t find any other special sweeper that could help. The main focus of this set is to lure the opponent to use their super effective move when I set up the sub so I can disable it and take out the enemy next turn. As I said I chose this guy when I couldn’t find anything else so he is interchangeable.
Excadrill - Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EV’s 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 Defense
Nature: Jolly
-Rapid Spin
-Stealth Rocks
-Rock Slide
-Iron Head
I chose Excadrill for the support since Dragonite and Excadrill have great synergy. The moveset is for maximum efficiency to work correctly and to get the hazards set up early enough to work. I used him for his decent speed and his switch in reliability with Dragonite.
I can use all the help you can give for this team, the only things that have to stay the same is Dragonite otherwise everything else is interchangeable thank you for any help you give and any changes you may have.
