Introduction

Hey Everyone, this maybe my third RMT but only the second team with which I've gotten over 1600, so I definitely wanted to post it and get some feedback. It's definitely a balance team, and I find I perform much better with balance or bulky offense.

Teambuilding Process

charizard-mega-y.png

I really like the synergy between these three. Zard comes in and kills something if Tangrowth is their main answer to Zygarde, Landorus gets worn quickly with the two physical attackers. Tyranitar can come in on Lati switch-ins to Zard, etc

Any team with Charizard, especially wallbreaking Zard-Y, needs a reliable defogger who can come in several times.

I needed a steel type and Lele and Koko checks, and Ferrothorn has great defensive synergy with Fini

This slot could probably be improved. I wanted a check to set-up sweepers, especially Zygarde and Pinsir, and neither of my defensive pokes have reliable healing, so wish support is helpful.

The Team

zygarde.png

Zygarde @ Leftovers
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Extreme Speed
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
I almost always run CB on Zygarde, so I wanted to switch things up a bit. Substitute so it can set up on things like Toxapex Scalds or weak Knock Offs. This is my main sweeper, but I don't really use it as a win-con so much as a mid-game threat.

tyranitar.png

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Ice Beam
- Superpower
Stone Edge and Crunch for STAB, Ice Beam for Lando and Superpower for Ferrothorn. Between this and Ferro I don't find Lati@s that threatening and so don't carry Pursuit, although I don't end up clicking Ice Beam that often either. This is probably my best hope against stall, unless they let Zygarde set up somehow.

charizard-mega-y.png

Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Roost
- Focus Blast
The 3rd member of my offensive core. Standard set, can switch in on Knock Off, SR from Lando/Ferro/Clef brought in by the previous two members, and brings in Pex for Zygarde to set up on (if Misty Terrain is up).

tapufini.gif

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Surf
- Taunt
- Nature's Madness
Defog was mandatory on this team, as noted above. I'm not sure how typical it is to run Taunt without any speed, but its mainly useful against defensive teams anyway and Fini still outspeeds a lot of defensive hazard setters. Nature's madness because it will almost always do more than Surf if the opponent is at full. Physically defensive because Ferro is my Koko/Lele counter and therefore is specially defensive.

ferrothorn.png

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
- Careful Nature
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Power Whip
- Thunder Wave
Needed a Koko, Lele and Greninja counter (though have to switch around Protean carefully. Spikes because SR is on Clef, Leech Seed and Power Whip are typical, and Thunder Wave to cripple fast things...although few fast things stay in against Ferro anyway. I definitely miss protect scouting though, which is how I often run my Ferrothorns.

clefable.png

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
Needed a way to check Pinsir, Zygarde, and Offensive Landorus, and Clefable somehow avoids getting 2HKO'ed by any of these. The wish support also helps my team, as noted above. Moonblast could maybe be swapped for Ice Beam.

Conclusion

Despite being one of my more successful teams, I still feel like there could be a lot of optimizing done on the defensive side of the team. The most dangerous things for the team are probably Giga Drain Volcarona and miscellaneous heavy hitters, like Thunder Punch Mawile, M-Lopunny, and Marowak.

Thanks for reading and for any advice!

band ttar commonly runs speed over hp invstment, and probably should run fire punch eq over ice beam superpower, and pursuit over crunch, cuz trapping is the reason to use ttar in the 1st place. also use smogon spread for ferro plz
