This is my first successful team and the idea behind this team was pretty simple, dragons are a very common problem. A team that isn't concerned with dragons might do well.

Baton Pass Scizor

Moves: Bullet Punch, Roost, Baton Pass, Swords Dance
EVs: 250 HP / 88 Atk / 172 Spe
Adamant Nature, Technician, Leftovers

This is your standard baton passer. The idea is to get in a couple of swords dances right away and baton pass to someone else. He also doubles as a nice sponge to take hits others might not be able to take.

Defensive Gliscor

Moves: Earthquake, Roost, Stealth Rock, Stone Edge.
EVs: 252 HP / 42 Def / 216 Spe
Timid Nature, Sandveil, Leftovers

This is my main wall, he can take plenty of hits and heal up with roost. Being able to handle some threats like Lucario isn't too bad either. With this in mind, Lucario and Jirachi teams have been giving me some problems.

Offensive Gyarados

Moves: Dragon Dance, Waterfall, Stone Edge, Ice Fang
EVs: 252 Atk / 6 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature, Intimidate, Life Orb

This is my standard physical sweeper, although I find myself using him less than I expected in favor of Heracross. He does scare off threats like other Gyrados though and Heatran, who would otherwise wreak havoc on my team.

Nevermelt Jolteon

Moves: Hidden Power Ice, Thunderbolt, Shadowball, Substitute
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spe/252 SpA
Timid Nature, Volt Absorb, Nevermelt Ice

My custom Special Sweeper. This setup came from a previous need to OHKO Garchomp. The need for such things has faded, but I've been reluctant to change a setup that's worked well for me for so long. Shadowball takes on Gengar, and HP Ice has OHKOed every dragon to ever switch in on it, and more than a few tortera. Thunderbolt is an obvious go-to for Jolteon and Substitute can set up a OHKO on Infernape using Close Combat.

Choice Scarf Heracross

Moves: Close Combat, Megahorn, Stone Edge, Night Slash
EVs: 252 Atk / 6 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature, Guts, Choice Scarf

This is my second physical sweeper. He easily OHKOs Blissey and plenty of other Pokemon. I picked Night Slash because its an ugly surprise for Gengar and the rare Mismagius. I get most of my KOs with Heracross, but I've never used my Guts ability ever and am beginning to wonder if maybe I should switch it, as swarm would have benefited me on a couple of occasions.

Choice Band Mamoswine

Moves: Earthquake, Ice shard, Stone Edge, Superpower
Evs: 252 Atk / 6 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature, Snow Cloak, Choice Band

Mamoswine fills in a few unique situations on my team and is a powerful force on the occasions I get him rolling, but he more often is sent in to take hits and get the guaranteed first hit with Ice Shard for some revenge killing (along with Scizor).

Like I said, this was my first really succesful team. Suggestions? comments?

Jirachi and Lucario together have been causing me a good number of problems, especially when I see Trick. Oddly enough, and much to my disappointment, UUs Typhlosion and Houndoom also caused me problems more than once.

you should definitely use jolly gliscor over timid, timid lowers attack and weakens his physical attacks, that's probably why lucario is giving your gliscor problems lol, especially since gliscor is a lucario counter

also you have a pretty big scarftran weakness, half of your team is weak to fire and gyarados is the only one who resists fire blast, but even then if he gets burned its not going to look pretty for your team, i suggest using starmie to take care of him and to absorb random status that comes your way with his natural cure ability. you could try this set out for size:

starmie @ life orb
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 6 HP
modest/timid
natural cure
recover
hydro pump/surf
thunderbolt
ice beam

hydro pump 1hkos scizor after SR damage which is good since your team doesnt have too much stopping scizor from sweeping for team besides gyarados. thunderbolt takes out bulky waters that will cause your team problems, ice beam is for dragons and for the boltbeam combo. recover to
heal off life orb recoil and any damage taken in the match. you could probably replace him with heracross or mamoswine since your team has plenty of physical attackers but could really use a special attacker to avoid being completely walled by skarmory and the like.

EDIT: almost forgot, jolteon doesnt need nevermeltice, give him either leftovers or lifeorb or if you want to get rid of substitute you can throw a specs and give him this set instead:

jolteon @ choice specs
4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
timid
volt absorb
thunderbolt
shadow ball
HP grass (since dragons are already covered by starmie and you can now take out swampert)
baton pass

I tried the choice specs, and found the lack of versatility to be a problem three matches in a row...I originally put the nevermeltice on to OHKO any build of Garchomp, but he's no longer a threat. I think I'll switch to leftovers.

The scarftran weakness was something that occured to me right off, but both Heracross and Gliscor OHKO and Jolteon 2HKOs...I was worried about it at first but in practice he's been no threat. My fire problems have really come from those I don't expect to see like random Houndoom or Typholsion.

I'd like to replace Mamoswine with Starmie, but I have concerns about losing the priority Ice Shard that has been my saving grace on numerous occasions.

Thanks for all of the advice. I'm going to try a few things out now.

Does anyone see downsides to trading Gyrados for Starmie on my team?

gliscor gets outsped by scarftran though, and perhaps you could try expert belt instead of specs on jolteon to give him that sweeping potential still but also allow him to switch attacks freely, but leftovers is fine too. and starmie is fast enough that it wont need the priority attack and helps your team out more.

I tried out Starmie and didn't like how I had to play the team, so I switched back to Gyara, bulk I'm using a bulky set now (featuring Taunt) and that takes care of Skarmory quite well. I've been doing very well now...winning about 70% of my matches and not having any single poke in particular. Under certain situations fire is still giving me a hard time and if I don't see trick comming it can still ruin me, but both situations seem to be easy enough to avoid.

...again, THX for all the help.

You know, last I checked, the majority of major threats are steel type...
In any case, Baton Pass Scizor is great, very original. Effective? I wouldn't know, but I'm sure it can't do too badly.
Nevermeltice isn't really good on Jolteon, there are so many better options. Life orb could allow you to OHKO more than just dragons, Choice Specs even more so, or you could use Leftovers for longevity.
I can see why Typhlosion and Houndoom are troubling you. Three of your pokemon are weak to fire, Scizor especially so. Something that resists it would be good. You could try Heatran, since he gets a boost from it and sticks with the theme of anti-dragon, since he resists their stabs and hits back with Dragon Pulse. You have plenty of Electricity immunites, so one of them could be replace, if you feel the need.
That's all for now.
