Dragons on Ice

Hey Smogon! This is an ice team I've been working on for a while now. It's pretty good, although I think it still needs a few more tweaks. This team is centered around two dragons who do most of the killing while the rest of the team supports and nets some kills of their own. That being said, there is no team building portion of this RMT because this team has had so many changes it would take too long to remember them all. Let's get to it:

460Abomasnow.png

Abomasnow (F) @ Expert Belt Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 Atk / 144 SAtk / 112 Spd
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Wood Hammer
- Ice Shard
- Blizzard
- Hidden Power [Fire]

She's big. She's bad. She's mad. She's got an amazing mustache. She's.. Actually useful? When I first started this hail team I figured Abomasnow would be just like most other non-Uber weather starters. Not good. However, after playing with this set for a while I found that it:

A) OHKOs Politoed with Wood Hammer

B) Has a large chance to OHKO T-tar with Wood Hammer

C) OHKOs Hippowdon with Blizzard
The only weather starter that really bothers Abomasnow is Ninetails.
As you can see, however, Wood Hammer and Blizzard hurt a few things quite a lot. Ice Shard is wonderful priority to kill stragglers and Hidden Power [Fire] is just extra coverage over nasty guys like Scizor and Ferrothorn. The Expert Belt is there to bluff a choice item. The EVs are designed to go mixed and outspeed standard Skarm, CB Scizor, Defensive T-Tar, and Defensive Poli. A lonely nature is provided for her to hit 310 attack. Unfortunately she is a little slow sometimes and BP from Scizor makes her cry.

646AKyurem.png

Kyurem @ Choice Scarf Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Blizzard
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Let me just start by saying: Blizzspamming scarfed Kyurem is amazing, and does not belong in BL (Seriously it's insulting :P). The EVs are quite simple, max attack, max speed, and the leftovers go to HP for increased damage and speed capabilities. A timid nature is slapped on for the extra speediness. Draco Meteor does a decent amount to non-steelies, though since it's not specs it will not always OHKO some things. Focus Blast is there for coverage although I absolutely hate this move. Really. It never hits. Ever. Hidden Power [Ground] is.. A little strange. It's good for hitting fire types and steel types that can trouble me. It is a little risky, however, due to the amount of pokes with levitate or are flying type. Blizzard? AW YEAH! Once anything that resists this move is fainted or at low health Kyurem can make a potent sweeper. With a high 358 special attack blizzard can really punch holes in things.

Mamoswine (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Snow Cloak
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Stone Edge
Mamoswine is the third and final ice member on this team. I feel that at this point she is the most expendable. While her attack is way up there, I find her speed is much of a let down. The biggest reason I do enjoy her is because of Ice Shard. Another priority move that is very, very helpful. It is the only way of bypassing the disappointing speed. Earthquake is a powerful STAB, and does a ton of damage even to defensive pokemon. Icicle Crash is another strong STAB that has the chance of flinching. Stone Edge is the final move and is for coverage against guys like DD Gyrados hoping to get a boost on my switch out. The EVs are simple. Max attack and speed to increase damage output. An adamant nature is used because, let's face it, she isn't out speeding much even with timid.

Jellicent.png

Jellicent (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Cursed Body
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Shadow Ball

Let's just start by saying that this guy is freaking amazing. Seriously, this guy is the super glue of this team and without him I would rarely win battles. He takes down all of the physical threats that threaten this team (Scizor and Terrakion to name some). With scald + Will-o-Wisp something is bound to get burned. Recover is there to obviously recover my health back. Shadow ball isn't super common (I believe taunt is?) but it does help me with guys like gengar and alakazam who are hoping hit me super effectively while I can only scald in return. The Evs are meant for Jelly to take as many hits as possible while I hit with a burn, or recover. Cursed body is the preferred ability because of it's ability to disable choiced pokes.

280px-381Latios.png

LatiBRO (Latios) (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psyshock
This guy stands out as one of my favorite dragons. His high speed, special attack, and coolness are just awesome! Slap a choice specs on there, use draco meteor, and watch as things die. Like I've said before the EVs are meant for killing and a timid nature is given for the extra speed. Draco Meteor is the main STAB move of choice. Surf is extra protection against guys like Heatran. Hidden Power [fire] is another way of handling steel types that can cause trouble for this team. Psyshock is here for another STAB move and to help deal with someone whom would normally completely wall me this set. The Egg Sisters.

Crustle (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 32 SDef / 60 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- X-Scissor

Crustle! Hey buddy! What are you doing out of RU? What? Being awesome? That's great. Seriously though. Crustle works really well on this team at setting up hazards. If I see the opposing team has a Volcorona I send this little guy out to set up rocks ASAP. And if they lead with Volcorona? No problem. Since Crustle actually has pretty decent attack he can actually OHKO Volcorona with stone edge. X-scissor is another decent move and gives him a little wiggle room when magic bounce psychics come in. The EVs are a little weird 252 hp evs for overall bulk. 164 Def for, well, extra defense. 60 speed to out speed a chunk of slower walls. Although I can't seem to remember why I have the extra evs in Special defense (Most likely just made a mistake). Leftovers to keep him around longer, and sturdy is an amazing ability.

Afterthought

Alright so that is basically the team. I understand that I don't have a rapid spinner, but I find that I never really have time to spin due to a fast style of play. I really enjoy playing with this team so I hope you enjoy reading about it! Also if you noticed my writing and description skills decreased after a while. This is because I am really tired so please forgive that.

*Note: Any changes I make will be made in RED.

Also a good game showing off Kyurem(And the rest of my team :P):

Yeah Mamoswine really isn't needed on this team. However, the lack of Rapid Spin, as well as huge weaknesses to stuff like Scizor and Terrakion is really scary. First thing...try using a specially defensive Forretress in place of Crustle. You get Rapid Spin, much better typing (importantly, an Outrage / DM absorber which is crucial for Dragon offense teams), and something which can check Scizor / Terrakion.

Now, try running ScarfMoxieMence over Mamoswine, then using Specs on Kyu instead of Scarf. ScarfMence is a better cleaner even in hail than Kyurem; Kyurem also doesn't usually need Scarf to be able to deal huge damage, since it completely walls most Water, Grass and Electric types. After this you may want to switch to LO Latios, but it definitely isn't necessary.

Hope these suggestions work out for you, nice team otherwise and good luck.

Thanks for the rate bubbly. The reason I'm using Crustle over Forretress is simple. I don't like the extra fire weakness. I might try it out however. Now onward! Choiced Terrakion is actually not very scary at all since Jellicent is good for taking him on. (Still I will try the Foretrress).

I've used specs Kyurem before and honestly I feel scarf is better. Mostly because things I would easily be able to take out with specs can out speed and KO me. (Like scarfed Terrakion) Also Life Orb on Latios won't work because the damage from hail and LO would be way too much.

ScarfMence also might be good but I'll have to think about it since it adds another rock weakness as well.

Thanks for the input though! You've given me some to think about!
