Drapion's Angels (OU RMT)

This is a team that I wanted to base on a single pokemon-Drapion. After so many failed RMT attempts, I really want to put an effort into this one. I thought about this long and hard, and this is what I came up with. Hopefully, it will be up to Smogon's usual standards.

The Lead: Ninjask

ninjask.png

Kunai (Ninjask) @Focus Sash
Jolly nature (+spe, -sp.atk)
252 atk, 252 spe, 6 hp
X-Scissor
Swords Dance
Protect
Baton Pass

Description:
When I was thinking this team out, I thought about using the SD Drapion set, but I then realised that I wanted Drapion out as long as possible to sweep as much as possible. Thats when Ninjask popped into my head. Great speed, learns SD, and can baton pass. Wow. Also, he can make Skarmory into a great wall and viscious attacker by BPing SD onto him if needed.

Ev Spread:
REALLY obvious spread here. 252 speed to outrun ANYTHING (in OU). 252 atk incase I decide to stay in and kill some stuff with X-Scissor. 6 hp for the jump point.

Moves:
Swords Dance is the main thing I want to pass, Baton Pass to, well, pass stats, protect for the extra speed boost, and X-Scissor for STAB.

The Star: Drapion

drapion.png

Robin (Drapion) @Choice Band
Jolly Nature (+ spe, -sp.atk)
252 atk, 252 spe, 6 hp
E-Quake
Night Slash
Ice Fang
Cross Poison

Description:
Drapion is the star of my team, and my main sweeper. Everything on my team is based on supporting him. With only one weakness, he should be able to sweep in safety.

Ev Spread
Max Atk and Speed for Sweeping, 6 hp for the jump point.

Moves:
Night Slash and Cross Poison for STAB, E-Quake to take out steels that resist both STABs, and Ice Fang to cover the ever so common Salamence.

The Physical Wall: Skarmory

skarmory.png

Blade (Skarmory) @Lefties
Impish Nature (+def, - sp.atk)
252 hp, 200 def, 58 atk
Spikes
SR
Brave Bird
Roost

Description:
Next, I thought about what sort of defense I wanted on my team. I decided i wanted a wall for each defensive stat, and then an all around wall/tank. Skarmory is the perfect physical wall for my team, because of its monstrous defense stat, immunity to Drapion's only weakness, and being able to use ninjask's baton passes to some effect.

Ev Spread:
252 hp and 200 def to make him a bulky birdy, and 58 atk to go alongside Ninjask's SD boosts.

Moves:
SR because every team needs it, plus it makes it easier for Drapion to get the OHKO/2HKO against things like Gyrados. Same thing with Spikes. Brave Bird is for STAB, and Roost is for instant recovery.

The Special Wall: Bronzong

bronzong.png

K'nuckles (Bronzong) @Light Clay
Sassy Nature (+sp.def, -spe)
252 hp, 252 sp.def, 6 def
Explosion
Light Screen
Reflect
Hypnosis

Description:
After choosing my Physical Wall, I had to choose my Special Wall. The obvious choice would be Blissey, but it would get maimed by Earthquake, Drapion's biggest threat. So I thought of using something with levitate. Mismagius also came to mind, but I realised it couldn't add anything to the team. Then.... BAM. I remembered the good old bulky bell, Bronzong. Levitate, Screen Support, Good Special Defense, whats not to like?

Ev Spread:
Max Sp.def and Hp for INSANE Bulkyness, 6 def because of lack of a better option.

Moves:
Light Screen and Reflect are the reasons I chose Bronzong, Hypnosis to Stall until my Screens are up, and Explosion ends it all, hopefully taking out the opponents pokemon to.

The Special Attacker: Salamence

salamence.png

3OH!3 (Salamence) @Choice Specs
Timid Nature (+spe, -atk)
252 Sp.atk, 252 Spe, 6 hp
Draco Meteor
Dragon Pulse
Fire Blast
Hydro Pump

Description:
After I got my 2 walls sorted out, I figured I needed a Special Attacker to go with the Physical Beast that is Drapion. Salamence seemed perfect to me, as it has a usable special movepool, is immune to Earthquake, resists fire attacks which 3 of my team has a problem with, blows away Heatran, and has great speed to back all that up.

Ev Spread:
Max sp.atk and speed for Salamence's overall purpose, sweeping, and 6 hp for the jump point.

Moves:
Draco Meteor the massive power, and it plus Dragon Pulse are my STAB attacks. Fire Blast takes out steels, and Hydro Pump completely blows away Heatran.

The Overall Wall: Dusknoir

dusknoir.png

Akon (Dusknoir) @Choice Band
Adamant nature (+atk, -sp.atk)
252 hp, 252 atk, 6 def
Thunder Punch
Ice Punch
Shadow Sneak
Trick

Description:
Remember earlier when I said I wanted and overall wall? Well, I thought why not have one that can be used as a physical attacker if Drapion goes down? So, I looked for decent Physical, Bulky pokemon, and Dusknoir instantly came to mind. Great Defenses, Decent Attack, and a good movepool.

Ev Spread:
Max hp and atk because I wanted him to be a bulky sweeper, and 6 def for the jump point (again).

Moves:
Thunder Punch and Ice Punch for the extremely common Salamence and Gyarados, Shadow Sneak for STAB, and Trick for those annoying walls, who wouldn't appreciate a choice band, whereas Dusknoir doesnt mind losing a choice band and probably gaining a Lefties.

If this team is based around a drapion sweep, why limit his versatility with a choice item? Give him a life orb and swords dance (for if ninjask goes down) and pass him a couple speed and SD boosts from Ninjask to sweep.

At the very least, if you want this team to be based around Drapion sweeping and Ninjask passing him boosts, you should have a spinner. Stealth rocks means you only get two shots at Ninjask; I assume you want more than that?

Tentacruel rather than Dusknoir or Bronzong would be a good spinner; and he takes special attacks like a champ too.

Mixmence looks like he'd have a good time knocking this team around, as would any of the dragons who managed to get a DD. (And they can usually manage at least one). Consider dropping Spikes on Skarmory for Whirlwind instead.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The Life orb sounds nice, and I think Im gonna drop Bronzong for Tentacruel, because it also helps with my fire weakness. I think whirlwind could work on skarm too.

I'd like to point out Magnezone being an obvious threat to Skarmory since it is without Shed Shell. Salamence could be sent out for the revenge kill, but then that runs the risk of Heatran coming in an absorbing it. Then again, they'd probably be expecting an EQ rather than a Fire Blast. But I digress.

Not that big of a fan of Dusknoir, but then again I've never used the CB set before.

Again, just wanted to point out Magnezone danger (applies to Bronzong as well), and I would agree with the LO+SD set for Drapion if he's the main star after all.
