Drilbur! BERZERKER CLAW!! (sandstorm team)

so as you guys might read this is a sandstorm team. but not just any OU sandstorm. with the ban of Excadrill ive done some researching and found that with my sandstorm team before i could easily bring back a pokemon similar to Excadrill and who better than Drilbur. anyways. this team is great, and Drilbur rocks.

so here is the team

Tyranitar
TyraniBoah (SubPunch)
Leftovers
Quiet
Moveset
~ Substitute
~ Focus Punch
~ Fire Blast
~ Thunder
EVs:252 HP / 60 Atk / 176 SpA / 20 Spe

here is tyranitar, the sandstreamer who helps the team do what it does best. i thought tyrani-Boah would be good to lead with or if not i might lead with lando and U-turn into tyranitar if i want. focus punch is for steels and darks. thunder is for water types and also to counter drizzle teams if politoed gets switched in after me. fire blast hits ferrothorn, skarmory, scizor forretress, jirachi and other steels or grass pokemon. last is substitute which is the reason why i get to focus punch besides its my bread and butter of the set.

landorus
Choice Scarf
Sand Force
Naive
Moveset
~ Earthquake
~ Stone Edge
~ U-turn
~ Hidden Power Ice
EVs:252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

landorus is my secondary lead, who may be able to provide as a scout and to safely switch to tyranitar. landorus can provide as lead or as a late game sweeper with the EdgeQuake combination and Hidden power ice he can dish out tons of pain. as for the moves Earthquake is stab and his steel types. stone edge gets boosted by sand force and helps me hits flying types and ice types well and could kill volcarona easily.U-turn allows me to scout as well as do some damage to psychic, dark and grass types. Hidden power ice helps against dragons, gliscor and other landorus.

Gengar
Substitute + Disable
Leftovers
Timid
Moveset
~ Substitute
~ Disable
~ Shadow Ball
~ Focus Blast
EVs:4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Genger helps against pokemon that like to stall or set up. behind a sub he can easily disable moves. shadow ball is STAB and focus blast is to hit steel, dark, rock, and normal types. gengar is a safe switch for when i have tyranitar out because gengar won't be affected by oncoming fighting moves and can safely come in on ground moves directed at magnezone

Magnezone
Choice Scarf Trapper/revenge killer
Choice Scarf
Magnet Pull
Timid
Moveset
~ Thunderbolt
~ Flash Cannon
~ Hidden Power Fire / Hidden Power Ice
~ Volt Switch
EVs:4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Magnezone makes a great addition to the team being steel and electric/ able to trap steel types. magnezone also helps me kill dragons and other landorus or gliscors. all in all its a great special attacker

121.gif

Starmie
Rapid Spinner
Life Orb
Natural Cure
Timid
Moveset
~ Rapid Spin
~ Hydro Pump
~ Thunderbolt
~ Recover
EVs:4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

i wanted a rapid spinner and didnt want a slow one like donphan or forretressm and i didnt want tentacruel due to its poison typing which makes it just another weak to ground. soo i chose starmie, who along with gengar has been one of my many favorite pokemon, the set is offensive while still being a rapid spinner. hydro pump is STAB but i was thinking of changing it to scald (voice opinion on whether to keep or change hydro pump) and thunderbolt is good for other waters/flying types.

and now onto the unexpected member of the team

(dont mind the sprite. just fits)

Drilbur
choiced
Choice band
Sand Rush
Jolly
Moveset
~ Brick break
~ Earthquake
~ Rock Slide
~ X - Scizzor
EVs:4 Hp /252 Atk / 252 Spe

you're probably thinking are you crazy for using a drilbur in OU and i would say yes but when you look at the potential he follows closely in Excadrill's footsteps with adamant nature+choice band drilbur gets up to 442 atk (295X1.5=442) and with that being in mind lets look at the speed with sand rush, he has 235 with a non speed benefitting nature and sand rush doubles that so in the sandstorm drilbur has 470 speed. which makes this little guy a force to be reckoned with. as for the moves i tried to choose the best. brick break for steels, terrakion, and blissey, rock slide for volcarona, dragons, X - Scizzor for all those dark and psychic types and the few grass types in OU. and last STAB Earthquake.

Unfortunately drillbur just can't measure up to excadrill's power. 442 attack isn't that much at all with choice band. I don't know how serious you are about using drilbur, but keep in mind that he's not half steel type and his defense isn't good enough to handle priority moves.

Starmie is the only thing that could possibly stand up to a rain team, which would get walled by ferrothorn. Scarfzone wouldn't do much to ferrothorn in rain with hp fire and would just get leech seed stalled.

Most of your team would get plucked away one by one by standard teams with no hope of redemption. I would consider just remaking it starting with a core. You don't have any hazards, taunters, or priority users, which means you would also be very weak to baton pass teams.

I would suggest a standard Tyranitar lead with chople berry. Specs magnezone would probably go farther in various situations or subcharge magnezone. Scarf Landorus is perfectly fine. Considering you have very few hazards even with the changes I suggest changing gengar all together to something offensive on the physical side, which would help fill in the gap for drillbur. You could use Terrakion or the #1 OU Pokemon Dragonite!. You could even go with both, because Terrakion's brute strength replaces a need for magnezone all together.

Tyranitar, Terrakion, Dragonite (CB or DD), Landorus, Starmie (rapidspin thunderbolt ice beam hydro pump leftovers) , and In the last spot could be jirachi, chansey, celebi or any pokemon you feel could properly support such a team.

I hope these suggestions helped. GoodLuck I hope I didn't recreate your team too much!
