Driving Test

After reading a bunch of these posts, I now understand why there are so many idiots on the road. You people just fail the test over and over until you finally pass it. What a bunch of BS.

Passing these tests clearly has no effect on whether or not a person is a good driver or not. They might as well just give you free driver's licenses in Cracker Jacks boxes.

Their main objective is to meisure your observation, safety and knowledge of the road as a whole. They aren't interested in whether you can change gear perfectly; that's nothing to do with passing your driving test. They're looking for defensive driving.

It's quite strict here, though. I've gathered that it's rather easy over in the US, but perhaps you'd find the UK's procedure more appropriate.

I wasn't really referring to driving talent.. I guess I should've been more specific.

It seems like a lot of you are lazy with checking blind spots and just ignorant of your surroundings on the road in general. At least once per day in my commute to or from work some moron ends up almost running me off of the road because they don't know how to check their blind spot or they just change lanes without having any depth perception and can't tell how fast I am coming behind them..

or they just change lanes without having any depth perception and can't tell how fast I am coming behind them..
A lot of times people are speeding, though, and don't even give other drivers a chance to get on or switch lanes. It's not remotely fair to complain about people pulling out in front of you if you're speeding. Not saying that you do of course, but it's really common in America and very annoying.

Driving is mostly common sense, which sadly a lot of people do not seem to have. The test is laughably easy, and as such pretty much anyone can pass as long as they bs their way through it.

I drive a lot too, and every day I see a couple of people that I wonder as to how they obtained their license. If they made the test a bit more strict then maybe people would take driving more seriously. I'm also a believer that elderly people should either be tested more often or should have their licenses withdrawn because more often than not when I see someone driving rather poorly it is a senior. Not to say that teenagers are amazing drivers, just saying that the tests shouldn't be so lenient on seniors.
