Greetings smogoners! Now I'm back, but not with another monotype team but a Baton Pass one. Since the ADV gen. I didn't even touched a BP team, but Shell Smash opened my eyes to this team again. Unfortunately I'm here after help, since I'm only with a 6 years delay about this strategy.

Building process

These guys are the main reason I wanted to make this team. Both are quite annoying, Smeargle because of its movepool and Volbeat thanks to Prankster. In my opinion, the are the best BPer in this generation, even outclassing Ninjask, my model as the perfect BPer.

Espeon and Yanmega are the main receivers of the BP. Espeon loves Shell Smash thanks to Stored Power+Magic Bounce, and Yanmega prefers Tail Glow thanks to Speed Boost.

MixMance is the biggest surprise here. It's able to receive both BP because of Moxie. This guy started as a filler, but ended being one of the main mon in the team. Incredible how it can tear apart some teams.

Now I needed someone that doesn't rely in the BP chain. Terrarkion was the first thing I thought, since it is able to work alone, but can get even more dangerous after receiveing a Shell Smash.

Terrakion had to go because my team was already a lot vulnerable to priority moves, specially Scizor's Bullet Punch. An Acrobatics build of Scizor could do almost the same job of Terrarkion: revenge kill.

The Team

Smeargle (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Own Tempo
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Spore
- Shell Smash
- Magic Coat
- Baton Pass
The classic Shell Passer. What really surprised me is that Smeargle is quite fast, outspeeding some cool things like Heatran. Magic Coat is here to avoid opposing Taunt and some Pranksters around, but sometimes I wanted to try Snatch instead and see what happens.

Volbeat (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Encore
- Tail Glow
- Baton Pass
- Bug Buzz / Substitute

I always thought Volbeat had some potential thanks to Tail Glow, and it is since the ADV gen. Now, Tail Glow is even more stronger and Volbeat has access to Prankster. This is exactly what Volbeat was missing to be abused. Encore in any non-damaging move, and then procced to glow. I'm only not sure about the last move: Substitute give me an advantage against some status inducer, but Bug Buzz let it do something after a Taunt.

Yanmega (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Protect
The first BP receiver. Most of the times it gets a Tail Glow, boosting it's SAtk to something about 830. If it gets a second Tail Glow, it's almost gg. Fortunately it is invulnerable to Toxic Spikes, but unfortunately Stealth Rock cuts its HP in half. Also, since the Spd boost comes from the trait, Protect is necessary here. HP Ground is here for coverage, otherwise Heatran would lock this guy.

Espeon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Stored Power
- Grass Knot

This guy can be a true beast or completely useless. Thanks to its fragility it is completely vulnerable to priority moves, even fighting ones. But thanks to Magic Bounce it can't be Roar'ed and can get rid of some other moves. But the main reason to run Espeon is Stored Power. After a Shell Smash passed to it, Stored Power get a 140 BP, without any STAB bonus.

Salamence (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 64 Atk / 192 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Claw
- Flamethrower
- Earthquake
A classic MixMance. But what really surprised me is how awesome this guy can be after a single Shell Smash. Draco Meteor and Flamethower can get rid of most physical wall; Dragon Claw would be a Outreage if the server I play accepted both Outrage and Moxie. Earthquake is for coverage too. But Moxie is what turns the dragon in a real beast: almost anything not SDef oriented can resist a +2 Draco Meteor, and after a kill the Dragon Claw gets a boost. Sometimes even a Tail Glow is enough to make this beast run rampant.

Scizor (F) @ White Herb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Acrobatics
- Superpower
This guy is a beast. Since I was having problems with opposing Scizors, why not try it here? Most priotity moves are physical, and the Def fall of Shell Smash don't help my other mons against Bullet Punch specially. With White Herb and Steel typing Scizor can take a BPunch and them counter with Superpower or Acrobatics. Acrobatics, indeed, showed to be the best move after Bullet Punch in this set, since White Herb activates most of the times it enters the field. Jolly over Adamant because with a +2 Spd it can outspeed some Scarfers that would resist Bullet Punch.

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Quick Attack
- X-Scissor
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
The less reliant in the BP chain. Even though, can still get some benefits from it. I decided for Band in case of it getting a Smash passed, but I think a Scarfed with EQ instead of Quick Attack is a better option.
Even being quite useful, it was only making my team more useless against Scizor.

Thoughts
Except for the Smeargle, Volbeat and Salamance, every spot is still open. So, if someone more experienced in BP chains could help, I'd really appreciate it.

I am loving it. You're probably going to run into some trouble with Mienshao leads, Fake Out and then Hi Jump Kick. Hidden Power Ice downs your Salamence and U-Turn downs Espeon. Other than Mienshao (I keep typing Kojondo), your team has some great potential. You'll have to play me on PO some time.

Thanks for it. And yeah, this team still has some big issues, but I can notice a bright future for it. But since I'm still not used to a BP team I came around here. Maybe I'll start to test this team in PO server.

I love this team. Like, I'm making love to it. It's getting me wins in Ubers, Smogon's Standard OU ladder... wow. Great team. I really love this. Oh my God.
