Calm Mind (Dudunsparce) @ Leftovers / Heavy-Duty Boots

- Shadow Ball

[SET COMMENTS]

With towering bulk, access to reliable recovery, and STAB Boomburst in its arsenal, Calm Mind Dudunsparce is an incredibly threatening setup sweeper without much long-term counterplay. Commonly used moves like Knock Off and U-turn that pressure other walls also benefit Dudunsparce thanks to Rattled, which prevents Intimidate users like the Qwilfish formes from freely switching into it, too. Shadow Ball complements Boomburst well, dealing with Ghost-types like Palossand, Rotom, and Tera Ghost Orthworm. The additional sustenance that Leftovers offers often makes it the better item choice, but Heavy-Duty Boots is a valid alternative mainly on teams lacking reliable entry hazard removal. In addition to strengthening Shadow Ball, Tera Ghost turns the tables on Fighting-types like Passimian and can potentially help Dudunsparce defeat Orthworm, Regirock, and Snorlax, three huge nuisances otherwise. Tera Poison prevents foes like Grafaiai, the Qwilfish formes, and Weezing from poisoning Dudunsparce, which only makes it harder to bring down, and also lets Dudunsparce wall Whimsicott. Tera Poison is also better against Hisuian Decidueye in particular, which has Scrappy to deal with Tera Ghost Dudunsparce.

Calm Mind Dudunsparce works well on bulky offense and balance teams in need of a sturdy wincon and secondary wall. Fighting-types like Passimian, Hisuian Decidueye, and Hisuian Sneasel can break through Steel- and Rock-types like Orthworm and Rhydon, which don't mind Dudunsparce's unboosted attacks and strike it back hard. Orthworm and Regirock match up well against troublesome special walls like Articuno and Porygon2 and set entry hazards so that Dudunsparce can more easily sweep. Switch-ins to Fighting-types, such as Mesprit, Palossand, and Weezing, are important to have so that Dudunsparce doesn't need to Terastallize prematurely when facing a threat like Hisuian Sneasel. These Pokemon can also switch into other physical attackers like Regirock, allowing Dudunsparce to stay healthy so it can more easily set up. If Dudunsparce opts to hold Leftovers, hazard removers become useful partners to have. As far as Defoggers go, Hisuian Decidueye and Cramorant do well at switching into and denying hazards from Orthworm and Sandslash and take on threats like Jolteon and Typhlosion, respectively. On the other hand, Sandslash and Hitmonlee are good spinners, with both also having Knock Off to wear foes like defensive Mesprit down. Sandslash can also make sweeping easier for Dudunsparce by setting its own hazards. Dudunsparce is incredibly vulnerable to Encore from the likes of Mesprit, Grafaiai, and Whimsicott, which makes checks to these foes such as Hisuian Qwilfish and Charizard appealing to have around. Even if Dudunsparce fails to completely sweep, it often leaves teams battered enough for a secondary sweeper like Jolteon or a cleaner such as Choice Scarf Passimian to easily finish the job. Both Pokemon can also support Dudunsparce early-game by using pivoting moves to get it in safely.

Shadow Ball complements Boomburst well, dealing with Ghost-types like Palossand, Rotom, and Tera Ghost Orthworm. The additional sustenance that Leftovers offers often makes it the better item choice, but Heavy-Duty Boots is a valid alternative, mainly on teams lacking reliable entry hazard removal. 4 Speed EVs let +1 Dudunsparce move before Jolly Hisuian Decidueye. If attackers like Charizard and Choice Specs Whimsicott are particularly problematic for Dudunsparce's team, it can reasonably invest EVs in Special Defense to ease those matchups, especially if it runs Leftovers. In addition to strengthening Shadow Ball, Tera Ghost turns the tables on Fighting-types and can potentially help Dudunsparce defeat Snorlax and Regirock, two huge nuisances otherwise. Rattled slightly makes up for the added weaknesses to Dark and Ghost, though Dudunsparce still needs to be careful to avoid being overwhelmed by attacks of either type. Tera Poison prevents foes like Grafaiai and Weezing from poisoning Dudunsparce, which only makes it harder to bring down, and also lets Dudunsparce wall Whimsicott. Tera Poison still helps with Fighting-types and is better against Hisuian Decidueye in particular, which has Scrappy to deal with Tera Ghost variants. the contents of this paragraph are all fine. i did remove some stuff because i dont think it's really important to mention and can be a bit filler. can we reorganize the paragraph though to how we have been doing so far? this order being moves > items > tera choices > evs. i feel like the current layout jumps around a bit too much

Dudunsparce needs teammates that can break through Steel- and Rock-types like Orthworm, Regirock, and Rhydon, which don't mind its unboosted attacks and strike it back hard. Fighting-types like Virizion and Hitmonlee are notable examples that also match up well against troublesome special walls like Snorlax and Articuno, and other wallbreakers like Charizard and Floatzel similarly help out here (i dont think zard or floatzel work well as mentions here as zard doesnt want to come in on snorlax or even really stay in on it, and floatzel doesnt do great into either 1v1). Switch-ins to Fighting-types, such as Mesprit, Palossand, and Qwilfish, are important to have so that Dudunsparce doesn't need to Terastallize prematurely when facing a threat like Hisuian Sneasel. These Pokemon can also switch into other physical attackers like Grafaiai and Sneasel (i disagree that mesprit wants to switch into either and palo doesnt want to come in on sneasel, maybe find other examples), allowing Dudunsparce to stay healthy so it can more easily set up. If Dudunsparce opts to hold Leftovers, hazard removers become useful partners to have. Sandslash and the aforementioned Hitmonlee are good spinners, with both also having Knock Off to wear foes like defensive Mesprit down. Sandslash can also make sweeping easier for Dudunsparce by setting its own hazards. As far as Defoggers go, Hisuian Decidueye and Cramorant do well at switching into and denying hazards from Orthworm and Sandslash and take on threats like Jolteon and Typhlosion, respectively. In addition to strengthening Shadow Ball, Tera Ghost turns the tables on Fighting-types (mention specific examples) and can potentially help Dudunsparce defeat Snorlax, Orthworm, and Regirock, two three huge nuisances otherwise. Tera Poison prevents foes like Grafaiai, Qwilfish formes, and Weezing from poisoning Dudunsparce, which only makes it harder to bring down, and also lets Dudunsparce wall Whimsicott. Tera Poison still helps with Fighting-types and is better against Hisuian Decidueye in particular, which has Scrappy to deal with Tera Ghost variants.

Mention the kinds of teams CM Dudunsparce fits on. Dudunsparce needs teammates that can break through Steel- and Rock-types like Orthworm, Regirock, and Rhydon, which don't mind its unboosted attacks and strike it back hard, so it appreciates Fighting-types like Passimian, Hisuain Decidueye, and Hisuian Sneasel. Fighting-types like Virizion and Hitmonlee (both of these aren't very common Fighting-types) Orthworm and Regirock are notable examples that also match up well against troublesome special walls like Snorlax and Articuno and set hazards so Dudunsparce can more easily sweep. Switch-ins to Fighting-types, such as Mesprit, Palossand, and Qwilfish Weezing (Qwilfish can proc Passimian's Defiant), are important to have so that Dudunsparce doesn't need to Terastallize prematurely when facing a threat like Hisuian Sneasel. These Pokemon can also switch into other physical attackers like Grafaiai (like sleid mentioned, Mesprit doesn't switch in to Grafaiai comfortably, so mention that or bring up a different example), allowing Dudunsparce to stay healthy so it can more easily set up. (Move Defog users before Rapid Spin users, as Sandslash is the best spinner and is still not great). Mention Dudunsparce's vulnerability to Encore users like Grafaiai, Mesprit, and Whimsicott as well as partners like Hisuian Qwilfish and that can deal with them.
