[OVERVIEW]
Dugtrio-A's niche stems from its unique typing, solid Attack stat, and a Speed tier that can outrun common PU Pokemon such as Articuno-Galar and all Silvally forms. These traits combine into a Pokemon that can force out tier staples in Togedemaru and Gigalith. Thanks to its STABs, it can hit a majority of the tier for at least neutral damage, with Iron Head's flinch chance being beneficial for brute-forcing past switch-ins such as defensive Eldegoss and Wishiwashi. Its unique typing also stands out, as this grants it an Electric immunity as well as valuable resistances to Psychic and Fairy. However, Dugtrio-A is about as frail as a piece of paper, with even resisted hits from Pokemon like Ribombee and Mesprit taking big chunks out of its health. It is also reliant on hitting foes super effectively to make progress, as otherwise, it has middling power. Finally, physical bulky Ground-types like Sandaconda and Quagsire, as well as tier staple Charizard, who is not a Ground-type but does not take much from either of Dugtrio-A's STABs, are common on teams and are great at walling Dugtrio-A.

[SET COMMENTS]
Substitute takes advantage of Dugtrio-A's ability to force switches and supplements its poor bulk, letting it fire off Earthquakes and Iron Heads with impunity. Toxic cripples switch-ins like Quagsire who could otherwise wall Dugtrio-A. Stone Edge is an option to instantly remove a surprised Charizard, but this makes Dugtrio-A much worse against Quagsire. Tangling Hair has a small niche of allowing Dugtrio-A to sack itself versus Knock Off users like Absol and lets Dugtrio-A outspeed Choice Scarf Togedemaru if the latter predicts incorrectly. Sand Force should be used when paired with Gigalith however, in order to provide an extra boost to Dugtrio-A's STABs. Dugtrio-A is very frail, so pivots like Archeops and Whimsicott who can bring Dugtrio-A on their switch-ins like Regirock and Audino are appreciated; Archeops can also help overwhelm Ground-types like Claydol and Sandaconda. Some defensive support Dugtrio-A enjoys are Pokemon such as Gigalith and Jellicent, who can switch into Charizard and Scarfed Fighting-types that threaten Dugtrio-A out. Gigalith can also provide Dugtrio-A with hazards support and Sand to wear down Dugtrio-A's switch-ins.
