ORAS UU Ebony and Ivory

Hello pokemon trainers. Creating teams is a hobby of mine but sadly the battling part doesn't intrigue me anymore. I did some testing and this team seems to function pretty well so I decided I should share xD. Anyway I really wanted to build around mega sceptile and swampert so here it goes.

Team building

So i really like sceptile because it outspeeds A large part of the tier and does great vs Offence. And I really needed something to help on the defensive side so i picked Swampert. My favorite physical wall in UU.

First thing I noticed is I am horribly weak vs scarfed Draco's. So I decided on florges. Who is a reliable switch in vs special dragons in general.

I noticed a huge weakness to roserade. So i added this guy.

At this point calm minding psychic types became a problem so this guy swoops in to cover that.

And finally I just really love this mon. And since this team is offence I needed a reliable revenge killer/ wincon. That outspeeds Mamo and Entei who are huge threats to my team and wear down my physical wall Swampert pretty fast.

Team

sceptile-mega.gif

Ebony (Sceptile) @ Sceptilite
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Dragon Pulse

Sceptile is great vs offence imo it outspeeds all non scarfers except mega aero. So it does pretty well. I decided on modest over Timid because the extra power helps a ton. To secure KO's. Leaf storm is to nuke something and then usually switch out. Giga drain is there to regain some health back and is also stab. Focus blast is to nuke Steel types who would otherwise completely wall you. And dragon pulse is there for stab and to reck dragon types. Pretty standard set.

swampert.gif

Ivory (Swampert) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Roar

Pretty standard physical wall. Great typing and is a check/counter to a bunch of the offensive threats like mamo, entei, mega aero, mega Beedril. Move set is pretty standard. Rocks cause you need em. Scald to burn stuff + stab. EQ for stab, great move in general. And roar to phase out mons who try to set up on you.

florges.gif

Harmony (Florges) @ Leftovers
Ability: Symbiosis
EVs: 152 HP / 92 Def / 132 SpA / 132 Spe
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Synthesis
- Calm Mind

The standard wish pass set kinda slowed me down too much so i went for a more offensive variant of florges. Psychic is to hit Nidoqueen/ crobat on there switchins. Moonblast is for stab and does decent damage when not resisted. Synthesis to keep itself healthy. And I decided to slap Calm mind on it for a late game win con. It doesnt generally beat other setup mons like suicune/ reuniclus/ snorlax. But that isn't it's job.

crobat.gif

Side by side (Crobat)
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 160 HP / 164 Atk / 184 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- U-turn
- Acrobatics
The Team could use a defogger so Bat does that the best in UU i think. Roost to keep it healthy. U-turn for momentum. And I decided to run acro bat so i had a knock off switch in. Also not taking the recoil on BB is nice.

doublade.gif

Keyboard (Doublade) @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Sword
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak

This is my calm mind Reuniclus/cresselia/Curselax counter. This guy beats them for florges :). Pretty standard set. Eviolite makes this thing physically stupid bulky. Sacred sword for the normal/ steel types. Iron head for the fairies. SD to setup for a sweep. And shadow sneak for a revenge kill. Also helps clean up game after setting up because of poor speed.

lucario.gif

oh lord (Lucario) @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Extreme Speed
- Swords Dance
- Crunch

Last but not least my Favorite UU mon. I run jolly to outspeed jolly Mamo and choice banded entei This thing sets up SD's and then wins. It sets up easily on mons like Umbrean/ forretress and goes on to reck opposing teams. Close combat is there for 120 BP stab. Extreme speed does major damage at +2 vs weakened teams and has the most priority bar fakeout. Swords dance is to bring this monsters attack up to deadly levels. And finally I like to run crunch over Ice punch so I can smack Bulky psychic types.

That's my team. Feel free to leave feedback. Use it if you like it. I'll leave the team for easy import.

Hey man, cool looking team here. The first thing that i noticed about it is that it was relatively Fire weak. Swampert can come in on Entei, but it can be worn down by burns/everytime it switches in and Entei can just switchout for later. But anyway, I'd like to recommend a couple of things that would help out.

  • So first I'd just like to play with the Crobat EV spread. Just playing with yours I'd like to recommend 136 HP / 136 Atk / 236 Spe with a Jolly nature. The extra speed allows you to outspeed Modest Mega Sceptile, Adamant Mega Beedrill (most seem to run those natures nowadays), and Adamant +1 Feraligatr. The speed could really come in clutch sometimes late game.
  • For your Florges set, I'd like to recommend just using a max Defensive spread, 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD with a Bold Nature. Since you're Calm Minding you won't really need the Special Attack or Special Defense investment and with max Def it helps you take on some threats a little easier that might try to weaken you. Also, I'm not sure what's wrong with the IV's on your Florges, you might have been running a Hidden Power, but definitely max those out. :^)
  • Next, to help lessen the Fire weakness, I'd like to recommend Suicune over Swampert. Suicune really helps with it because of its access to Rest and its really nice defenses. This also gives you a nice switchin into other threats like Mamoswine or Rain Swampert. With a Roar set it can also help mitigate the DD Feraligatr weakness as well. Here's the set I'd like to recommend.
    suicune.gif

    Suicune @ Leftovers
    Ability: Pressure
    EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
    Bold Nature
    - Scald
    - Roar
    - Rest
    - Sleep Talk
  • Lastly, since you lost Stealth Rock if you take up my Suicune suggestion, I'd like to recommend Krookodile over Lucario. Krookodile provides you with Stealth Rock as well as a Volt Switch immunity, which is pretty much essential with all the VoltTurn teams running around. Krook also makes a perfect partner with Crobat. But anyway here's the set I'd like to recommend on Krookodile, it's essentially just standard support krook.
    krookodile.gif

    Krookodile @ Dread Plate
    Ability: Intimidate
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Knock Off
    - Pursuit
    - Earthquake
    - Stealth Rock
But anyway, I still think this is a very solid team and I hope you consider my recommendations. Good luck!

Hey Tyty307, from a glance this looks like a pretty solid balance team. You have decent balance between members and a solid Swampert / Florges / Crobat core that I've used myself before. However, it seems like your offensive core struggles against the same pokemon (notably fire types and Mamoswine), and Swampert is forced to blanket check said threats. I'd like to make a few suggestions that will hopefully improve your team's defensive backbone and provide more support to your offensive core:
  • Swampert seems to be the glue for your defensive core, checking Entei, Mamoswine, and Doublade among others. However, you have no means of replenishing Swampert's HP apart from Leftovers recovery, so it is a shaky check at best, and if you come across a team that has a combination of said pokemon you'll likely be overwhelmed. I don't want to replace Swampert because it does compress a lot of roles and leaves extra slots on your team for offensive threats, so I think changing your Florges set to a Wish Passing Cleric one would help. A moveset of Moonblast / Aromatherapy / Wish / Synthesis with an EV spread of 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe with a Bold Nature is your best bet, as a physically defensive spread allows you to check special attackers such as Mega Blastoise and Hydreigon while letting you switch into Banded Heracross (provided Florges is at full).
  • I agree with Shiba's suggestion to change your Crobat EVs to allow it to outspeed Adamant Mega Beedrill. I'd probably run max speed Jolly to outcreep opposing Crobat since it's only a few more EVs, but it's up to you since it won't end up mattering that often.
  • Your team at this point still only has one fire resist with two weaknesses. Entei comes in on three of your pokemon (four if it's at full health) and gets a kill if Swampert is weakened already KO'd. Another resist would really take pressure off Swampert and improve your overall matchup against Entei. I think changing Doublade -> Taunt LO Hydreigon is a solid change. LO Hydreigon still takes on bulky psychics like Reuniclus and Cresselia while providing a much needed fire resist. Max SpA and Max Spe with a Timid Nature and a moveset of Dark Pulse / Draco Meteor / Roost / Taunt is the set I would recommend. Hydreigon also provides you with a solid answer to Krookodile lacking Superpower, which definitely posed a threat to your team previously. While Hydreigon adds a fighting weakness, I believe the physically defensive Florges change helps on that front and prevents pokemon such as Scarf Mienshao from punching holes in your team.
With those changes in mind, I believe you have a much more effective balance team with a significantly better matchup versus offense. I hope you try out my suggestions! Good luck with everything.
