Eelektrik

  • Eelektrik has nice bulk in conjunction with Eviolite and has good moves to boost its bulk, such as Coil and Light Screen
  • Eelektrik has the levitate ability allowing it to be the only PU Pokemon with no weakness
  • Eelektrik has good coverage options which allow it to be physical or special
  • Access to Knock Off, an almost essential move to have nowadays
  • Has switch initiative with access to both U-Turn and Volt Switch

Coil + Three Attacks
Move 1: Coil
Move 2: Wild Charge/ Spark
Move 3: Knock Off
Move 4: Super Fang/ U-Turn

Item: Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Adamant/ Impish
EVs: 248 HP/ 252 Atk/ 8 Def

Moves
  • Coil is the main move here as it buffs your attack, defense, and accuracy up by 1 stage, which allows you to hit harder
  • Wild Charge is your main STAB move, as it hits the hardest and deals with bulky water types like Phione, Politoed, and Relicanth
  • Spark can be used over Wild Charge if the recoil is a problem, but the loss of power is unappreciated
  • Knock Off is just a good move in general, and knocks of the item of those who would otherwise resist electric moves, like Bellosom and Raichu
  • Super Fang is used to take half HP off of bulky Pokemon like Bastiodon or Carbink
  • U-Turn is used for switch initiative and is another option to hit grass and psychic types, if their item is knocked off
  • Volt Switch can be used over U-Turn if STAB is wanted while Aqua Tail can be used if Rock and Ground types are considered to be a problem

Set Details
  • Eviolite is the obvious choice for an item here, as it boosts Eelektriks defense and special defense stat up to base 105
  • An adamant nature can be used if you are looking for a more offensive electric type, while impish is there if you want a defensive electric type
  • 248 in HP makes things such as Regigigas's Return a 3-Hit KO, and allow you to live a Head Smash from Choice Band Relicanth
  • 252 in Attack allow you to hit as hard as possible, remember, your physical attack stat is 808 in Defense allow you to retain a little bit of extra bulk that along with the HP EVs, is really helpful
Usage Tips
  • Make sure to switch into Eelektrik on a move that it can take well so that way it doesn't take too much damage
  • Then, use Coil if you think your opponent is going to switch, or if they can't knock you out
  • Continue to use your 3 attacks as you find necessary
  • Remember to switch out when things get rough, but also note that Eelektrik's speed stat is Sub-Par so U-Turn may not be the best option if you want to keep Eelektrik alive

Team Options
  • This Eelektrik set does not have any form of recovery, so a wish passer like Hypno or Lickilicky is necessary if you want to keep Eelektrik's health up
  • Physically defensive Pokemon like Torkoal, Sudowoodo, and Tangela are sometimes hard to deal with so good special attackers are nice to have
  • Residual damage can sometimes be a problem so a good rapid spinner or heal bell Pokemon are really helpful

The Ways of the Acid Spray
Move 1: Acid Spray
Move 2: Thunderbolt/ Volt Switch
Move 3: Giga Drain
Move 4: Signal Beam/ Hidden Power Ground

Item: Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Bold/ Calm
EVs: 248 HP/ 8 Def/ 252 SpA

Moves
  • Acid Spray is the main move on this set as it lowers the opponents Special Defense by 2 stages, and allows other moves to really leave a dent on the opponent
  • Thunderbolt is the STAB move here as it is Eelektriks hardest hitting special STAB move, barring Thunder, which is inaccurate
  • Volt Switch can be used over Thunderbolt if switch initiative is needed
  • Giga Drain is the main recovery here and is a solid choice against rock and ground types
  • Signal Beam can be used for psychic types like Chimecho, Grumpig, and Kadabra if they are considered problems
  • Hidden Power Ground is for other electric types like Raichu and Luxray

Set Details
  • Eviolite is once again the item to use as those extra defenses are too good to pass up
  • Since Acid Spray is on the moveset, a defensive increase nature like Bold or Calm are recommended to give Eelektrik some extra bulk, but a modest nature can work if you are looking for more offense
  • 248 in HP again follows the bulk is important trend on this set, since once again Acid Spray lowers the opponents SpD by 2 stages
  • However, that doesn't make it any less important to hit as hard as possible so 252 SpA EVs are recommended

Usage Tips
  • Send in Eelektrik only on a Pokemon that Acid Spray can touch, but would still stay in
  • Use Acid Spray and your 3 other attacks when necessary, that's literally it

Team Options
  • Specially defensive Pokemon like Articuno, Wish Flareon, or Roselia can be difficult to deal with so strong Physical attackers are necessary for this set
  • Steel types like Bastiodon, Probopass, and Metang are immune to Acid Spray, and don't take too much damage from HP Ground, so a fighting or fire type respectively, are good options when revolving a team around this set
  • Residual damage is always a pain so Rapid Spinners and Heal Bell users are nice to have

RestTalk
Move 1: Coil
Move 2: Wild Charge/ Spark
Move 3: Rest
Move 4: Sleep Talk

Item: Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP/ 8 Def/ 248 SpD

Moves
  • Coil is once again the main move here as it turns Eelektrik into a physical monster, both in offense and in defense
  • Wild Charge is your main physical STAB move, while Spark is there if you don't want to take recoil damage
  • Rest is your main form of recovery, and heals off any status conditions so you don't need a heal bell user on your team
  • Sleep Talk is your way to continue using coil and your STAB move while you are sleeping due to rest

Set Details
  • Eviolite is the only item that you can use to gain extra physical and special bulk
  • Careful Nature is used to increase your special defense, since your physical will be boosted by coil
  • The EV spread is also formed in order to still have special bulk, while you are using coil

Usage Tips
  • Make sure you switch in Eelektrik on a Pokemon that you can hit, otherwise your only use is to stall out PP, and risk getting hit with a crit
  • From there, its as simple as the last 2 sets, use coil and your other moves when they are needed

Team Options
  • Physical Walls and Attackers are still a problem as they require a lot of coils in order to keep up with, so a special attacker is great to have
  • Stealth Rock users like Gigalith and Probopass are great to have, as stealth rocks wear down the opponent, which is always helpful
  • A water or grass type pokemon is necessary as ground types completely wall this form of Eelektrik

Other Options
  • A flying type move like Bounce or Acrobatics can be used to handle grass types on the physical set, but U-Turn is just better as it provides you with the initiative
  • Flash Cannon can be used on the special set if you want a more powerful option than Acid Spray for fairy types
  • Status moves like Toxic or Thunder Wave could be used, but Eelektrik doesn't really have the space for them on any moveset

Checks and Counters

Bastiodon-
Bastiodon is a problem on every single set. It cannot have its special defense lowered by Acid Spray, which causes Thunderbolt to do no damage whatsoever. It also requires a +6 attack stat on Eelektrik in order to have a 68% chance to knock it out with wild charge if you are adamant( 12% if you are impish). Not to mention, it often runs things like stealth rock and toxic, which Eelektrik hates residual damage. Probopass may do this as well, but at least its a guaranteed OHKO at +6

Electric Types- Electric types such as Luxray and Raichu resist Eelektriks main STAB moves and require HP Ground in order to do massive damage amounts to them

Welcome to Smogon! Did you get permission for this? I don't see it in the PU analyses discussion thread, and Eelektrik is a pretty bad Pokemon with a mediocre niche at best. You really need to bring the topic up in the PU Analyses Discussion Thread first before posting a thread for a Pokemon not listed in the Reservation List; that way, the QC team can hear your arguments for a Pokemon being worthy of getting an analysis and decide on the matter. Plus this isn't in the correct format for analyses. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I suggest looking at other analyses in progress first to get an idea of what to do.
