Checks & Counters

**Wallbreakers**: Hard-hitting fast pokemon such as Darmanitan and Victini bust through Eelektross with ease.

**Status**: Burns cripple the coil set, and it does not appreciate the residual damage. Poison limits its sweeping capabilities and whittle it down easily.

Hey, I meant to reply to you on PS but I took too long and you hopped offline, so I'll just put here what I was gonna say, cause you mainly wanted some advice and some insight on checks/counters...

As I'm thinking about it, you can probably slash Thunderbolt and Volt Switch on the Assault Vest set for the first slot, and the last slot can be U-turn/Acid Spray. The line of reasoning behind this is if you run Thunderbolt, then you have not much reason for Volt Switch as crazy as it sounds, since Thunderbolt's the stronger Electric-type STAB, and U-turn isn't blocked by Ground-types, ensuring you get the momentum. Volt Switch can be used (Thunderbolt can still be used too) if you run Acid Spray in the 4th moveslot, because Volt Switch will do a nice chunk of extra damage after using Acid Spray, plus, this allows you to force the opposing Poke out by switching to something more threatening.

I was also messing around with the calc a bit, you actually can get a lot more special bulk out of AV Eelektross by reducing HP for SpD (0 HP / 252 SpD maximizes your special bulk but it hampers your ability to take physical hits and/or Psyshock quite dramatically). So I figured maybe a spread of 112 HP / 252 SpA / 144 SpD, it's somewhat balanced and still gives you a bit of the best of both worlds. It avoids the 2HKO from +0 Silk Scarf Porygon-Z's Adaptability Tri Attack (yes I know that's very specific lol) but it's hard to really get much of a practical spread for this guy honestly. I would have used 128 HP / 128 SpD but it actually takes special blows worse despite more HP, so that's a thing. I'll probably come up with a better spread than this but it could be listed as an alternative or something, lol.

Far as usage tips on the AV set, aside from getting worn down super easily due to status and Stealth Rock, and the fact it's incredibly slow means it's often taking a hit before it does something, so residual damage and hard hitters can definitely be an issue. Especially since even with an Assault Vest, a lot of pure wallbreakers manage to blow this thing aside regardless. On the positive side it's able to take on every single wall in the tier especially if it runs Acid Spray, since...well you know. Brutally easy to break through defensive pokes, the few Steel-types immune to it being susceptible to Flamethrower. Team Options could prolly factor Wish support from Florges/Umbreon/whoever to keep it healthy, since its lack of weaknesses allow it to fit into any team's synergy. If Acid Spray's chosen esp. with Volt Switch, strong special attackers like Hydreigon and such can blow holes through the opponent's team, especially if their special wall has taken SpD drops.

Coil set, you might wanna use HP / SpD with Careful nature, to maximize bulk since you compensate Atk and Def by boosting with Coil. I'll edit this later when I get some more ideas for the Coil set because I got super distracted typing this lol

Okey, I know this is still WIP, sorry for me going a step ahead, but I think you really need to emphasize why you'd use Eelektross as an AV user, and what Pokemon it can check. Ofc it can theoretically check practically anything, since no weaknesses, but in addition to not having weaknesses, it neither has resistances, which I think, are arguably more important when using AV on a Pokemon. Eelektross can ofc check Electric-types, but can't really do anything back. Eelektross also has a disappointing bulk, so I'm wondering if AV really makes that much difference, basically problem being, that it's hard for it to pivot, since it is still 2HKOed by many powerful special moves, and can't really come in on any physical attack. It neither has access to reliable recovery. Eelektross does have Giga Drain, but Electric/Grass really isn't good coverage, as Giga Drain only helps against Ground-types, but many of them have secondary-type that neuters Grass-weakness (Nidos, Flygon). I could maybe see more of a niche for AV if Torn-T ever comes down to UU, but it's hard for me to see a niche for it as of now.

Okey, so Eelektross can easily come in on many defensive Pokes, especially the ones that rely on T-Wave as a status move (as opposed to Toxic and WoW). But when Eelektross gets the switch-in, I'd take the Coil set any day over AV, since with Coil, Eelektross' Attack becomes reasonably high, and with max. special bulk and +1 in Defense, becomes very hard to stop. Most walls are setupfodders, and Drain Punch + Leftovers gives you much better recovery and coverage, as Drain Punch happens to hit Hydreigon and Kyurem, 2 big threats otherwise. I think the third slot is a coinflip really, as I don't see Knock Off or Dragon Tail as much superior options, basically because they don't offer extra coverage. Knock Off offers nice utility ofc if you can't boost, but it's pretty useless otherwise. Dragon Tail stops phazing, but you are practically so slow, that if the phazer is any faster than standard Hippowdon, you'll still move last. Aqua Tail could get a strong mention, as it lets you hit Nidos, who are otherwise very dangerous. Fire Punch is a good option for Grass-types. In C&C, you should prob mention Status as #1 obstacle, as Eelektross is fairly easy to burn, and Toxic can be crippling to an extent aswell. If going without Careful nature (as opposed to something like Adamant), strong and bulky special attackers should get a mention, who can take Eelektross 1v1. These include atleast Shaymin and Nidoqueen, who can take 1 supereffective hit, and retaliate with Seed Flare and Sludge Wave, respectively. Also, fun fact for set details / other options: with 36 Defense, you will survive CB Flare Blitz from Darmanitan 50% of the time after Coil boost, making sure you can retaliate against any physical attacker before going down.
