Gen 5 Electabuzz (NU) [WIP]

[OVERVIEW]
:bw/electabuzz:
Electabuzz faces stiff competition from the tier's other Electric types suchs as Eelektross, Rotom-Fan, and Rotom-Frost, and it isn't hard to see why. First and foremost, Electabuzz lacks the ability Levitate, which the other aforementioned Electric types have, meaning that unlike them, Electabuzz is vulnerable to being hit by super-effective Ground-type attacks, as well as Spikes. Eelektross, Rotom-Fan and Rotom-Frost also have better Special Attack Stats than Electabuzz and better natural bulk. Eelektross also has coverage that Electabuzz lacks, like Flamethrower, Giga Drain, Aqua Tail and Superpower, and has a decent Attack Stat to make use of its access to good physical coverage moves. Meanwhile, Rotom-Fan and Rotom-Frost both have secondary typings that give them strong Flying and Ice type STAB moves to help them blast through grass type such as Serperior and Vileplume that trouble Electabuzz, who can struggle to damage them depending on its choice of Hidden Power. Eelektross and the Rotom formes also have more flexibility in their item slots, being able to run a multitude of Items such as Expert Belt, Choice Specs, Choice Scarf and even Leftovers. Electabuzz on the other hand, is generally forced onto running either Eviolite or Choice Scarf. Electabuzz also faces competition as a fast Water-type check and revenge killer from Serperior, who is one of the best Pokemon in the tier, resists Ground-type attacks, and like Electabuzz can revenge kill Charizard and Water-types.

However, despite lacking many key traits that the other Electric types in the tier have, Electabuzz still has strong niche thanks to its good speed tier and critical access to Focus Blast. It's speed tier lets it outrun and revenge kill key targets that Eelektross and non-Choice Scarf variants of the Rotom formes fail to outrun and can struggle against, such as Charizard, Sawsbuck, Kangaskhan and Zangoose, as well as other faster Pokemon such as Haunter and opposing Rotom-Fan and Rotom-Frost. Focus Blast also lets Electabuzz threaten Pokemon such as Regirock, Piloswine and Regice that wall Rotom-Fan and Rotom-Frost. It also has a better match up into certain threats that Serperior struggles to beat, such as Garbodor, Mandibuzz if it lacks Hidden Power Rock, and the aforementioned Sawsbuck. This allows it to be a decent substitution for Serperior on teams that want Serperior's ability to revenge kill Charizard and Water-types, but that also want a better match up into these Pokemon.

Moves

Hidden Power Ice gives Electabuzz coverage to hit Grass-types such as Serperior, Exeggutor, and Roselia, while also letting it hit Golurk for super effective damage. Alternatively, Hidden Power Grass lets it nail Seismitoad and Golem, while still hitting Golurk super effectively. It also is a reliable way for Electabuzz to beat Golem, as it is OHKOed after Stealth Rock. Focus Blast is crutial for letting Electabuzz seriously dent Regirock, Regice, Kangaskhan and Piloswine, as well as OHKOing Sawsbuck, Zangoose and, after Stealth rock, Rotom-Frost and Golem. Volt Switch allows Electabuzz to keep momentum against Pokemon that otherwise wall it, and is good for finishing off heavily weakened Pokemon before Electabuzz gets itself out.

Set Details
========
Max Speed EVs and a Timid Nature are used to make Electabuzz as fast as possible and take advantage of its ability to outrun fast, popular threats such as Charizard and Sawsbuck. 252 EVs are put into Special Attack so Electabuzz can hit as hard as possible. The remaining 4 EVs are dumped into HP for a marginal increase in overall bulk.

Team Options
========
Electabuzz fits best on offensive teams and greatly appreciates Spikes support to more easily attain KOs and break through bulkier Pokémon. Garbodor is the best choice for a Spikes user as it can also provide Toxic Spikes to cripple bulkier Pokémon that otherwise check Electabuzz, such as Golurk and, if it lacks Hidden Power Grass, Seismitoad. It also checks Grass types well and can clear Toxic Spikes upon switching in, which Electabuzz greatly appreciates. Alternatively, Electabuzz could be paired with Musharna, who can pass Calm Mind boosts to it to make up for its only decent Special Attack, while boosting its already impressive Special Defense. Golurk pairs well with Electabuzz for its ability to beat down Specially bulky targets that wall Electabuzz, as well as being able to block Volt Switch from opposing users of it, on top of providing Stealth Rock. In turn, Electabuzz can deal with most Water-types that threaten Golurk, such as Alomamola and Samurott. It also can check quite possibly the best check to Golurk, Mandibuzz. Choice Band Sawk is similarly good at breaking Specially defensive targets, like Golurk it appreciates Electabuzz's ability to combat Alomamola. Skuntank can check Psychic-type Calm Mind users such as Duosion and Musharna for Electabuzz, and it can potentially prevent opposing Stealth Rock and Spikes users from setting up their entry hazards with Taunt. It also can check certain Grass-types that Electabuzz struggles to break, most notably Serperior, can clear Toxic Spikes, and appreciates Electabuzz having Volt Switch to get it in safely. Seismitoad pairs well for its ability to switch into Water-type attacks and provide Stealth Rock support. While Electabuzz threatens most Water-types, it prefers to not have to be a team's main switch-in to them. It also can switch in on Ground-type attacks for Electabuzz in a pinch. Electabuzz can also be paired with a second Electric-type such as Rotom-Fan, Rotom-Frost, or Eelektross to help break each others shared checks. In particular, Rotom-Frost with Choice Scarf is a good partner for it's ability to outrun and KO Serperior for Electabuzz. It can also cripple specially defensive Pokemon with Trick to make them easier to break, and it can get Electabuzz in safely with it's own Volt Switch.

Despite being listed as a mini in the reservation thread, I’m gonna be making this a full analysis since Electabuzz has 2 sets worth mentioning and it has more to write about than a lot of pokemon listed to have a mini analysis.

I know you're not done yet, but thought I'd provide some initial feedback.

The overview is a bit weird in general in how it chooses to compare EBuzz to the other electrics. It starts off making it sound great before having an about face to say everything wrong with it. I would generally restructure to instead lead with the point that the Rotoms and Eel are generally more splashable Electrics for multiple reasons (Levitate, item slot, effective bulk, a second stab in the case of Rotoms) but that EBuzz does have a niche specifically because of speed tier and Focus Blast and end on a higher note. Another really relevant comparison that probably should be made in the overview is to Serperior. In essence, both mons serve as fast beaters/revengers of Zard and waters in one slot. So in some ways its role is closer to Serp than it is to the other Electrics. If you've ever been building a team with a Serperior but feel the team needs a better matchup into Garb or Sawsbuck or Mandibuzz for example, or it could use a pivot, then Ebuzz might be a fair substitution.

I would also remove probably any point that specifically touts Vital Spirit as great (can be mentioned in set details but it's not overview worthy). Sleep is not even a factor in >90% of BW NU games these days and it is certainly a vastly inferior ability to Levitate if you're referencing it in the same sort of area as the competition. I'd almost want to slash Static on the set since it's actually more likely to impact any individual game, though is probably less impactful in the games where it does come into play.
