Motor Drive is certainly not a useless ability.
If you manage to lure out an Electric attack (hello there, Gyarados), you can easily get it activated, and the extra speed boost out of nowhere greatly supports this pokemon's sweeping capabilities.
Btw, you should've organized your post better. The way it is now, it's very hard to read.
