I took awhile, but I finished my first SM OU team. It's sort of a standard Elec Terrain Rain team that takes advantage of Surge Surfer. I've noticed the team has too much emphasis on Special Attack rather than Physical which is definitely a problem.
Tapu Koko @ Terrain Extender
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 4 SpD / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
- Grass Knot
- Thunder
- Volt Switch
I loved this thing the moment I saw it so I wanted to base a team around it. Tapu Koko has the obvious role of terrain setting. Give it a Timid Nature and Max Speed EVs to be the able to outspeed Jolly Kartana, Greninja and Weavile. ElecTerrain boosted Thunder OHKOs Pheromosa unless someone runs a SpDef boosted set (which I highly doubt even exists) and has a 56.3% chance of OHKOing a Careful Max SpDef EV Celesteela. Volt Switch on Tapu Koko creates a VoltTurn core with Pelipper. Dazzling Gleam provides a second STAB move that can 2HKO TankChomp and OHKO Mega Sableye. Grass Knot is used to deal with chunky water, ground or rock types like Golisopod or Tyranitar.
Raichu-Alola @ Life Orb
Ability: Surge Surfer
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder
- Focus Blast
- Psychic
- Grass Knot
Surge Surfer goes amazingly with Tapu Koko's Electric Surge, which raises Raichu's speed with Timid nature and max speed EVs to 700 which is faster than my GPA is dropping (and also non speed boosted Pheromosa). Raichu has the exact same SpAtk as Tapu Koko so Thunder is just as devastating. Grass Knot is run for the same reason as Tapu Koko. Psychic provides STAB for Raichu and can take out Tapu Koko's Poison weakness and can 3HKO Nihilego and OHKO Salazzle. Focus Blast is to deal with Tapu Koko's Steel weakness (If can ever hit them) such as Ferrothorn (2 or 3HKO).
Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
- Hurricane
- Scald
- U-Turn
- Roost
Pelipper was originally seen as a stupid bird who interupts you while you surf, then suddenly Game Freak slaps Drizzle onto it and suddenly it's like it's the must-have rain setter. U-Turn allows me to switch to Kingdra for rain abuse or to Marowak to take Electric moves that come Pelipper's way. Roost gives reliable recovery in case I need to heal. Scald provides STAB and potential burning. Hurricane in rain gives 100% accuracy and can OHKO Kartana, 2HKO Venusaur, and OHKO Buzzwole.
Kingdra @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 28 HP / 252 SpA / 228 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Draco Meteor
- Scald
- Ice Beam
This slot was originally taken up by Mega Swampert, but I decided to switch to Kingdra so I can have a Mega Scizor on instead. Kingdra has the standard Choice Specs set and has base 526 speed in rain, which outspeeds Garchomp, Char X, and Kartana. Hydro Pump can OHKO DD Char X, A-Marowak, Char Y, and Mamoswine. Draco Meteor gives STAB and can deal massive damage to anything that doesn't resist it such as Toxapex (2HKO), Decidueye(2HKO), and Mega Gyarados (OHKO/2HKO). Scald is for a more reliable way if damage and to cripple attackers with burn. Ice Beam can take out bulky grass and dragon types.
Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
Scizor is a bulky pivot for the team and can check Kingdra's Fairy weakness. Swords Dance raises attack and gives Bullet Punch high damage with priority and Technician (2HKO Bulu/Lele 3HKO Magearna). Roost keeps Scizor alive. U-Turn gives my team momentum and can VoltTurn core with Tapu Koko.
Marowak-Alola @ Thick Bone
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Atk / 112 SpD / 132 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Bone
- Flare Blitz
- Bonemarang
- Will-O-Wisp
I didn't think much would come out of Marowak, but it turned out to be incredibly Anti-Meta and is had one of the highest usage rates in Non-Bank OU. I decided on Marowak due to being able to take down UBs and Tapus and can soak up all Electric Type moves that come to kill Pelipper. Shadow Bone is for STAB and can 2HKO Tapu Fini and OHKO Mimikyu. Flare Blitz is for Fire STAB which can deal with Scizor (OHKO), Metagross(2HKO), Magnezone (2HKO), and Buzzwole (2HKO) and other things weak to Fire. Bonemerang can deal with Heatran (OHKO) and break substitutes.
