Electric Troop's Final Attack Orders

Hi everyone!

I am just now getting back into the competitive battling scene of Black and White. The last time I have really been a competitive battler was way back in the last days of the fourth gen, so I am kind of rusty as a battler.

Anyway, I started doing some random match-ups to get a feel for battling, and I started to see a recurring pattern, my team is far too weak when faced with fighting type Pokémon, or for that matter, quite a few of the more popular teams these days.

And so, I am hoping that you can all give me some tips on how I can improve my team!

My team is as follows:

Infernape@Life Orb
Blaze
Ev'd in att. and spd.
Jolly Natured
-Stone Edge
-Flare Blitz
-Close Combat
-U-Turn

Overall is a lead that hits like a truck! He can't take much damage, through. He has Life Orb, if it is not taken by Wevile. He is usually either able to take something down, or pretty close to being able to do so. If he is not my lead, then my lead is...

Weavile@Expert Belt
Presure
Ev'd in att. and spd.
Adamant Natured
-Ice Shard
-Ice Punch
-Night Slash
-Brick Break

My other lead (They tend to switch), and an overall good revenge killer/hard hitter. This fellow is basically in the same boat as Infernape is in, strong and quick, but unable to shrug off a hit.

Porygon2@Evolite
Download
Ev's 252 def/252 sp.def/4 HP
Modest Natured
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover

My teams wall and support mage. He tends to stick around a long time, and is only really threatened my Fighting moves and toxic. I almost always open with a T-Wave, and weaken my opponent with Bolt-Beam, healing when needed. I would greatly prefer not to replace him!

Starmie@Life Orb
Natural Cure
Ev'd in spatt. and SPD.
Timid Natured
-Rapid Spin
-Scald
-Recover
-Physhock

A speedy special sweeper. Has good coverage, but can’t take more than a few hits. I run Scald over Hydro Pump for accuracy.

Breloom@ -Air Balloon-
Technition
Ev'd in Att and SPD
Jolly natured
-Mach Punch
-Spore
-Bullet Seed
-Low Sweep

My sub-breaker, and sleep abuser. An 120 base power priority move after STAB is nothing to sneeze at. On top of that, even at low combos, Bullet Seed racks up damage in staggering amounts. Low Sweep is to lower speed of switching in Pokemon, to allow for easier sweeping.

Ferrothorn@Leftovers
Iorn Barbs (I think that was his ability)
Ev'd in 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Natured
-Stealth Rock
-Leach Seed
-Power Whip
-Gyro Ball

I added this fellow to not only give me a second shot at defense, but also set up some entery hazards, lay down some seeds, and wreck some stuff! He sure can take a beating, so he is a good switch for when another Poke needs some RnR. He pairs well with Starmie because of his only weakness being fire, and also boasts the only grass and steel moves on my team.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my post here, and I gratefully await your response.

Thanks in advance!

First thing's first, you should look to some popular RMT posts for visual appeal formatting. I'm just nitpicking, but users would be more likely to read your post if it was easy to read or nice to look at. Pretty pictures help as well. Onto some more technical things. Your post has some inconsistencies in it, shown in the following;

Infernape@Flying Gem

...

Overall is a lead that hits like a truck! He can't take much damage, through. He has Life Orb

Porygon2@Evolite
-T-Wave
-Bolt-Beam
-Recover
-Move missing

You might want to fix these so that readers will be able to get a good description of your Pokemon to work with. Now onto something that you really should fix (still not regarding your team). According to the rules, you can only post complete teams. You should decide on items for your Pokemon to hold and moves for them to use before posting an RMT for them. Also, fact that you have "backup" Pokemon or Pokemon that you will readily interchange with your current team also tells me that this team isn't "complete". In short, it would be best to just post your team with items and moves of use, and not your team with moves or items missing and 7 other Pokemon that you may or may not use on said team but want to include in the post anyway.

Finally, we arrive to the rating of the actual team. These rates are made in the mindset that your team is oriented more offensively than defensively (seeing as you only have two defensive Pokemon and nothing to take specially offensive moves). The important bits will be italicized if you just want to skim read, but I suggest you take time to read the whole rate to have some insight as to why I made those suggestions.

Infernape would certainly appreciate a Life Orb over a Flying Gem. Acrobatics should be replaced with U - Turn for scouting purposes since Infernape is one of your leads. Stone Edge should be run over Shadow Claw since Stone Edge provides good coverage against opposing fire types and flying types. I honestly don't see the need for Shadow Claw.

Weavile should run Pursuit should be run over Ice Punch for trapping certain Pokemon and guaranteeing a revenge kill.

I believe that the following Porygon 2 set should be used;

Porygon 2 @ Eviloite
Calm Nature (+SpD, -Atk)
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpD
~ Ice Beam
~ Thunderbolt
~ Thunder Wave
~ Recover

The set is taken from the Smogon StrategyDex. It should benefit your team by providing some more specially defensive bulk and keeping up the offensive pressure.

If you want to have a good specially offensive Starmie, then Scald isn't a good option for a Water STAB. I understand the accuracy problems with Hydro Pump, but Scald is not very powerful to serve as an adequate replacement. Instead, I suggest you use Surf over Scald.

Other than that, I don't see any offensive threats to your team currently. Keep in mind that I'm a newbie here and this is only my second rate, so I don't know every offensive/defensive threat in the current OU meta off the top of my head.

Porygon2@Evolite
-T-Wave
-Bolt-Beam
-Recover
-Move missing
^ It's not, btw. T-Bolt + Ice Beam= Boltbeam and that's what they called it. It's not proper, but all of the moves are indeed there.

Just a question, but you are aware that the Item Clause does not exist in most tiers, including OU? I'm only inquiring because of this statement:
He has Life Orb, if it is not taken by Wevile.
Both are most certainly allowed to hold a Life Orb - assuming, of course, you want them to.

Your Porygon2 also has a Jolly nature, according to this... Why? Not only does that nature lower the power of its moves, Porygon2 is no speed demon and doesn't really need to be concerned about such - it is a tank. A Bold nature is preferable to allow Porygon2 to take more of the physical attacks that run rampant in the tier.

Weavile isn't the best lead in this generation, as it's mainly used for late-game cleaning due to its frailty as you noted, as well as revenge-killing. Also, if you're not using Pursuit on it, there are better alternatives, such as Mamoswine. I would actually recommend Mamoswine over Weavile, as it has higher Attack, bulk, and STAB on Earthquake, in addition to a stronger STAB move, as well as Superpower if you run it over Stealth Rock. Here's the set:

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+ Spe, -SpA)
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Stealth Rock/Superpower

I suggested Jolly because it allows you to outspeed key threats such as Breloom [with a STAB to hit 5/6 of your members super effectively, and is KO'd by Ice Shard with a bit of prior damage] and Heatran, which is in a similar situation. Adamant is definitely viable for more power, so choose whatever works best for you. If you run Stealth Rock, you can free up a slot on Ferrothorn for Spikes, which are good considering that Ferro is likely to stick around for more than one turn to set up more spikes [unless, of course, there is a fire move involved]

I'm not sure of whether or not I should talk about your substitutes, as they're probably not in the squad as much as your main six, right? Your RMT is also a little hard to read in the sense that the format isn't really correct, and you have a lot of extra Pokemon which are really easy to confuse as part of your main six, as there isn't much of a way to tell which is which with the exception of a small breaker and a bit of text, which is easy to miss in a large RMT. Not trying to be rude, but perhaps you could, at the very least, put in some sprites or a larger, bolder separator so it's easier to tell? c:

Thanks for pointing out the inconsistencies and otherwise errors (Porygon2 is actually Modest, not Jolly...). As you can probably see, it's been awhile...

Anyway, to start off, I removed the reserves list. I originally added it just in case someone felt that I should add in one of them instead.

Does most people play with item clause? I ask just because I am always hearing of it.

I also changed Starmie's Scald to Surf, as well as changed up Infernape quite a bit. I'll probably try to get pictures up later to make for a more visually appealing thread.
