[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 1 onwards
**Price Range**: 18-19 points
**Overview**: Enamorus is a powerful wallbreaker and setup sweeper that is typically further boosted by Terastallization. With its great mixed offenses and near-perfect special coverage, it is very difficult for opponents to properly check. It works great with Choice items, it can set up with Calm Mind, Agility, and Contrary Superpower, and if it is no longer needed, it can heal up a teammate with Healing Wish. Terastallization makes it even more difficult for opponents to check, giving it stronger STAB moves, coverage, or a better defensive typing. Its biggest downside is its average bulk, which leaves it prone to being revenge killed by faster foes and priority attacks. It also does not like running Heavy-Duty Boots, as other items are typically preferred, meaning it can get chipped down by Stealth Rock easily.
[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Revenge Killer / Sweeper**: Typically using a Choice Scarf, Enamorus can easily rip through weakened teams with its powerful STAB attacks and coverage. Terastallization further boosts this role, giving it necessary coverage to beat would-be checks or boosting its coverage moves even further. With Contrary, this set can also set up and sweep while attacking either with Superpower or Tera Blast Stellar.
**Wallbreaker**: With damage-boosting items such as Choice Specs, Enamorus can smash through teams, especially if its teammates can handle incoming revenge killers that outspeed it. With Terastallization, it can gain key coverage with Tera Blast or boost Moonblast even further, even making Fairy-resistant foes take huge amounts of damage from it.
**Setup Sweeper**: Enamorus can become an even stronger wincon with setup moves such as Calm Mind, Agility, and Superpower. While it often lacks the necessary bulk to set up, these sets can be more defensive. Substitute puts Enamorus in an even stronger position, though it sometimes needs more coverage moves to get through specific foes. On Calm Mind and Agility sets, make sure that its ability is set to Cute Charm instead of Contrary.
Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Moonblast, Draining Kiss, Play Rough
**Setup Moves**: Calm Mind, Iron Defense, Agility
**Utility Moves**: Taunt, Healing Wish, Substitute
**Coverage**: Earth Power, Mystical Fire, Psychic, Grass Knot, Sludge Bomb, Focus Blast, Superpower, Zen Headbutt, Iron Head, Tera Blast
Niche Moves
========
**Alluring Voice**: Although it is weaker than Moonblast, Alluring Voice can hit foes behind a Substitute.
**Misty Explosion**: Misty Explosion deals a ton of damage to a foe while KOing Enamorus, allowing it to pivot to a teammate that appreciates the foe being weakened.
**Tailwind**: While Agility is often preferred, Tailwind works on Contrary sets and synergizes well with Healing Wish, healing a teammate completely while temporarily boosting their Speed.
Common Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: With a Choice Scarf, Enamorus can outspeed and KO many of the faster foes that would otherwise revenge kill as well as slower foes with +1 Speed.
**Choice Specs**: Choice Specs makes Enamorus a glass cannon, dealing massive amounts of damage every time it comes in but making it prone to Stealth Rock and faster revenge killers.
**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Enamorus is weak to Stealth Rock before Terastallizing, making Heavy-Duty Boots an important item on setup sets that want to stay healthy.
Niche Items
========
**Leftovers**: In matchups where Stealth Rock is not a concern, Leftovers can keep bulkier setup sets healthy, especially when combined with Draining Kiss. This also allows Enamorus to use Substitute more reliably.
**Choice Band**: While Choice Specs is often preferred, Enamorus can use Choice Band against specially bulky teams. Terastallization gives it necessary coverage to hit specific foes, and Contrary + Superpower can let it sweep if it is given the opportunity.
**Other Damage-boosting Items**: Choice Specs may sometimes not be as reliable against teams that require a variety of coverage to check, making items like Life Orb and Expert Belt useful occasionally.
**Lum Berry**: Lum Berry is valuable to have on setup and Contrary sets that otherwise would get shut down by paralysis or burn or put on a timer by poison.
**Weakness Policy**: Enamorus can become a deadly sweeper with Weakness Policy, especially since it can use Iron Defense or Calm Mind to take super effective hits. Agility sets with lots of bulk can also pull this off well.
**Assault Vest**: With an Assault Vest, Enamorus can become bulky enough to tank some special attacks, especially on Contrary Superpower sets that are not as concerned about physical attacks.
Tera
========
Enamorus is a top-tier Tera Captain and should always be made one when drafted. Tera Fairy further boosts its STAB moves, making it extremely hard for foes to check, even when it is not using damage-boosting items. This also gives it the benefit of taking less damage from Stealth Rock. Tera Fire and Ground boost its coverage moves further while flipping some of its weaknesses. Tera Water, Poison, and Steel allow Enamorus to beat foes it otherwise would not, especially on setup sets. Tera Ghost and Electric give it extra coverage via Tera Blast while letting it handle certain attacks better. Tera Stellar synergizes well with Contrary and Choice Scarf, making Tera Blast boost Enamorus's offensive stats while dealing massive damage to all foes reliably.
Draft Strategy
========
Enamorus is a powerful wallbreaker, revenge killer, and setup sweeper, but it requires lots of support from its teammates to do all of its roles properly. It often struggles finding opportunities to switch in safely, especially with the threat of Stealth Rock before it Terastallizes, and it often wants support to beat bulkier foes that can check it.
**Faster Teammates**: Enamorus's base 106 Speed is solid, but faster teammates are a necessity so that it isn't forced to use Choice Scarf more often than it wants. Teammates like Roaring Moon, Darkrai, and Iron Bundle can check faster foes and force ones that are even faster than them to run extra Speed EVs rather than bulk.
**Entry Hazard Control**: Teammates that can remove entry hazards are a must on Enamorus teams, since it takes large amounts of damage from Stealth Rock before Terastallizing. Tentacruel and Terapagos are some Pokemon that fulfill this role well. On the other hand, hazards set by teammates like Garchomp and Glimmora can chip foes down, allowing Enamorus to more effectively KO them.
**Pivots**: Enamorus is very frail, so it does not want to switch in on many foes. Bulky pivots like Rotom-W and Galarian Slowking can take hits and safely bring Enamorus in, while offensive pivots like Cinderace and Scizor can force foes out, dealing solid damage to the foe while bringing Enamorus in.
**Physical Wallbreakers**: Enamorus typically is run as a special attacker due to its higher Special Attack and better special coverage, so physically offensive teammates like Palafin, Ursaluna, and Gouging Fire can put pressure on specially defensive foes that check it.
**Steel-type Teammates**: Steel-types such as Jirachi, Iron Crown, and Gholdengo resist most of Enamorus's weaknesses, allowing them to reliably take hits from revenge killers and maintain momentum for the team.
Checks and Counters
========
**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Enamorus has coverage to hit nearly every Pokemon, especially with Terastallization, but many specially defensive foes can still check it. Pokemon like Tornadus-T and Pecharunt can run Assault Vest and deal massive damage in return. Bulky Poison-types like Galarian Slowking and Muk can eat its super effective attacks or run Air balloon. Moltres resists all of its coverage, forcing it to run specific Tera types that may be suboptimal.
**Faster Foes and Priority**: Enamorus can easily be revenge killed by faster foes like Meowscarada, Deoxys-S, and Ogerpon-W as well as priority attacks like Palafin's Jet Punch and Dragonite's Extreme Speed.
**Stealth Rock**: Before it Terastallizes, Enamorus takes a large amount of damage from Stealth Rock, making it even more weak to revenge killers. Even after it Terastallizes, it still takes a notable amount of damage each time it comes in.
**Status Effects**: Enamorus wants to outspeed foes, since it struggles with taking hits, so paralysis from foes like Klefki, Zapdos, and Gholdengo shuts it down. Poison and burn also gradually chip it down, making it easier for revenge killers to take out.
