Epic Stall Time

images

This is my second team which I revised from Over 9000 turns of stalling. My favorite battling style is stalling and you will notice that. I used a lot of standard smogon EV spreads but they work pretty well. My team works pretty well in the most common weather conditions of rain, sandstorm, or sunlight, but not in hail. Well please give me suggestions to revise my team, thanks.

(BaconStrps) Ferrothorn @Rocky Helmet
Ability:Iron Barbs
EVs:252 HP / 88 Def / 164 SpD / 4 Spe
Nature:Careful
~Spikes
~Stealth Rock
~Leech Seed
~Power Whip
This is usually my lead. I have a more specially defensive Ferrothorn because if the Pokémon decides to use a physical move rocky helmet and iron barbs will take away a big chunk of their life anyway. Ferrothorn is my lead but if I see a Pokémon with a strong fire or fighting move I immediately switch to Jellicent. Although my main focus with Ferrothorn is to set up entry hazards if I see the Pokémon poses no threat and use leech seed to stall and regain health. I use power whip in case I want to damage a Pokémon and kill it faster. You might be wondering why I don't have gyro ball instead since I have so little speed EVs invested. The reason is for more PP when stalling and I have other Pokémon who paralyze so gyro ball would be plain retarded. The four speed Evs are to out-speed other Pokémon with little to no speed investment.

(PB&Jlyfish) Jellicent @Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs:252 Hp/172 Def/ 84 SpD
Nature: Bold
~Will-O-Wisp
~Protect
~Recover
~Scald
Don’t you eat peanut butter and jellyfish? I usually switch into Jellicent either from a threatening ice/water move onto Gliscor. Most notably surf from a choice specs Latios. Or I'll also switch into Jellicent from a threatening fire/fighting move onto Ferrothorn. I also switch into Jellicent as a spinblocker. I also use Jellicent for Pokémon who cannot be poisoned I burn them with Will-O-Wisp. The concept is obviously a basic stall set. First you burn, then you protect, then you recover. You can continue the cycle and then use scald (the little damage it does, but it still makes the stalling shorten.) Although, the main reason why I have scald is for fire Pokémon who I cannot burn. The most common one is drought Ninetails even with the reduced sunlight damage. Scald is also useful against any taunt users. Protect is for more burn damage and to scout to see if the Pokémon has any moves which would be strong against me.

(FoodPoison) Gliscor @Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
Nature: Impish
~Toxic
~Protect
~Substitute
~Earthquake
Foid Poisoning can hurt trust me and Gliscor will show u this as the main cause of it. One symptom from food poisoning from gliscor is losing a lot of hp. I usually switch into Gliscor when a Pokémon is about to use an electric type move on Jellicent. I then toxic it, protect, substitute, etc to stall Pokémon until they lose pp valuable to them or die. This is the basic Gliscor set I know, but it works.

(2MuchFood) Dragonite @Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Nature: Careful
~Roost
~Substitute
~Thunder Wave
~Dragon Tail
Dragonite is an obese slow dragon who ate too much. This Pokémon is just freakin annoying. Simply paralyze the Pokémon since you will never die from an attack with no stat boosts (yes that includes most ice attacks) and then roost or substitute until the Pokémon can’t move. This gives you the opportunity for a free dragon tail to slightly damage the Pokémon and give entry hazard damage to the incoming Pokémon. I can also use Dragonite as a staller simply with substitute and roost if they are already inflicted with a status ailment such as poison or burn and just stall until they die.

(UGetLfties)Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Atk
Nature: Careful
~Curse
~Recover
~Ice Punch
~Waterfall
Quagsire is such a dumb Pokémon all it gets is Leftovers. Quagsire is a new addition from my previous stall team. I used to have trouble with those status raising Pokémon (mostly dragons) in which Unaware takes care of. You might be puzzled by my choice of waterfall instead of earthquake, but it is my counter to air balloon users who are also usually weak to ground as well. Even if I switch into an electric type Pokémon who uses air balloon (Jolteon) waterfall will still hit it for some damage. I’m not too worried about Jolteon since hidden power ice is more common compared to hidden power grass. Quagsire just simply counters most of my problems. Since I have a lot of weakness to electric typing on my team, I switch into Quagsire and begin to curse. I invested in special defense since this is a curse set. Ice punch also helps me switch into one of those Dragon type Pokémon who abused status boosts and use ice punch for some damage since most are frail.

(Sushi) Starmie @Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Hp/ 32 Def / 224 Spe
Nature: Timid
~Rapid Spin
~Ice Beam
~Recover
~Thunderbolt

This is some threatening sea star sushi. At a first glance you might be thinking you don’t even have a freakin water attack on your Starmie, but boltbeam has great coverage and ice takes out most Pokémon who are weak to water anyway. My other water Pokémon can deal with fire types. Besides, most of the times when I switch into Starmie the Pokémon are already damaged somewhat from status ailments. I also wanted my Starmie to survive more so I put more Hp Evs. As my only rapid spinner Starmie is vital so I have recover so it can last and spin entry hazards away more times. Starmie works as a great rapid spinner since it is so fast.
Threat List:
Abamasnow-This has to be my biggest threat since it literally is strong against my whole team (including Ferrothorn with Hammer Arm.)
Chlorophyll Special Attack Venusaur in Sunlight-Although this is very specific it can sweep my whole team.
Reinclus-I can’t status induce it for damage, so this can give me issues.
Rotom-W –This gives most of my Pokémon issues because of its coverage when it invested in special attack. I specifically gave Ferrothorn high special defense to survive it and take this thing out with power whip.
Mold Breaker Haxorus-Not even Quagsire can do anything about the status raises from this so after a few Dragon Dances it might be game over.
Rest-Talk Suicune- Since I rely on status ailments this also gives me problems since it just sleeps things away. This one pokemon out stalled my stall team once since it wastes so little pp while asleep. Although Ferrothorn can eventually kill it with power whip as well.
Crobat/Fast Taunters-They taunt me that sucks, but for that reason I have Starmie. Quagsire and ice punch can also take care of them unless.
Gengar- It’s just a fast sweeper with great coverage. My spikes do nothing to it also. Jellicent will also die in an instant Gliscor is useless against it. I usually just try to kill it with enough dragon tails as I keep switching it in and out with Dragonite. Quagsire can also kill it since it is so frail defensively.

Love the theme, maybe a few small changes could help for example. Im not sure i see the point in cursing on quagsire. unaware makes it more than bulky enough and its not gonna get a sweep at all thanks to the abundance of brelooms today, or even amoongus.

Perhaps something like

Scald
Toxic
recover
Icebeam/ earthquake-or power

seems more stall oriented anyway.
Overall though solid team!

Hey there. That's a pretty solid stall team you got there although I'd like to give you some suggestions to take into consideration. At first glance, your team seems heavily weak to Calm Mind Virizion. Virizion can easily sweep your team after a couple of calm minds. To help solve this problem, I would like to suggest a Standard Tentacruel. With it's amazing typing, Tenta can resists Virizions onslaught and help support the team with the very valuable Toxic Spikes. Well, thats all I have for now, cool team and one tiny little change may be all you need! Have fun and good luck with your team!
