[ORDERS RECEIVED...BATTLE...ST...ST...]
TMkGmBW.png
"Maybe you should just take a break, big guy."
TMkGmBW.png
This beautiful, powerful sunset sets a great backdrop for what will easily be the most intense battle I've reffed to date! Frykt the Colossoil sits buried half-way into the arena, eyeing his opponent, Dahlia, menacingly. "Bring your best," the giant Pokemon mumbles. Dahlia remains silent, waiting for her orders from Akela. It's quiet for a moment, as the orders come in. Then, just as quickly as the sunset leaves the horizon, the two Pokemon rush at each other.

Dahlia's item, the Sun Stone, gives her a huge offensive advantage, with a monstrous Special Attack and access to all her Sun-based abilities from the start! This, of course, means that Chlorophylll boosts her Speed, letting her act first! Frykt tries his hardest to evade, but his sheer size and weight make Dahlia's Grass Knot hit incredibly hard. Frykt responds with a Rock Tomb, chucking rocks from the ruins nearby to trap the Lilligant. It succeeds, and Dahlia's Speed is lowered as a result. Funny, even with the Speed drop, the two are still incredibly close, but Frykt has the advantage now.

Colossoil has no shortage of tricks, and now that Frykt has the speed advantage, he intends to take full advantage of them. With a motion that has to clock in at nearly impossible, the massive Pokemon leaps out of the ground and far into the air, so high, in fact, that Dahlia's incredibly powerful instant Solar Beam misses completely! Then, at the most convenient moment after Dahlia's miss, Frykt falls from the sky and crushes Dahlia with a fierce Bounce attack! His weight plays to his own advantage now, making Bounce incredibly powerful. With the right impact, he was even able to paralyze her--or so we thought! Leaf Guard prevents Dahlia from getting paralyzed, so she was able to dodge a bullet there.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? Frykt once again launches high into the air, making Dahlia's Grass Knot miss! Not moments after, another astonishing, critically huge impact from the Colossoil's Bounce attack causes tremors throughout the stadium. Who knew such a large Pokemon was capable of such acrobatics? "Your best wasn't enough," the Colossoil groans, its low tones causing even more subtle vibrations through the ground.

Not only did Frykt completely dominate Dahlia in the damage department, but due to his Pressure ability, Dahlia needs to worry about energy consumption, as well. That one Grass Knot sure hurt, though. Now, the baton is passed to Exclaimer. How will she keep the pressure up? Can Akela come back from this damage massacre?

If P/E, then Chill the first instance, Roar the second instance, and push back actions each time. [non consecutive]
If Endure, then Sand Tomb and push back actions. [once]
If Synthesis on A2 or A3, then Snatch and push back actions. [once]

Chill > Solar Beam + Synthesis > Solar Beam + Synthesis

Solar Beam: The user spends time absorbing sunlight, before firing an incredible beam of energy at their opponent. The user charges at Priority 1, and fires at Priority -1. In sunny weather, the user both charges and fires at Priority 0 instead. In rainy, sandy, hail, or foggy weather, this move has 6 BAP instead of 12. If the Pokemon is entirely isolated from sunlight or powerful artificial lights, such as an unpowered structure with no windows, this attack fails.

Synthesis: The user basks itself in the light, restoring 30 HP in strong sunlight, 20 HP in normal weather or a well lit indoors arena, or 10 HP in other weather or a poorly lit indoors arena. This move uses up one of the user's available recovery moves in a battle.

TMkGmBW.png
After being crushed into the ground pretty heavily by Frykt the (pretty savage) Colossoil and his trainer, Exclaimer, Akela and Dahlia are in a bit of a tight spot. You can see that the Lilligant is really worn out, and isn't taking her wounds well. On the other hand, Frykt looks just peachy. That whale sure does have a lot of confidence!

Exclaimer orders her Colossoil to perform a Fake Out attack, dealing rather impressive damage for a move with such low power. Dahlia takes this blow head-on and takes the flinch without regrets. What resolve!

Frykt rears back, attempting to Snatch the Synthesis from Dahlia--just like he and Exclaimer had planned--but, the move didn't work. Why, you ask? It's simple! Snatch doesn't affect moves in a combination, and this Synthesis is a special one. Harnessing all of the extra solar power she receives from her Sun Stone, Dahlia overdoses on sunlight to heal her HP, then expels all the energy in one huge blast! Granted, it's not any more powerful than any normal Solar Beam, but it gets around Frykt's plans, and does some good damage, to boot!

Frykt is not looking very happy. No, no, he is not happy at all. He's so unhappy, in fact, that this Bounce attack seems more savage and violent than any of the other attempts. This time, Dahlia has no choice but to take it; using that crafty combination left her in a vulnerable cooldown state for a while. What a bone-crushing impact! I think I might be getting sick just watching...

Frykt's damage negated all of Dahlia's healing, and then some. But, Dahlia is still in this battle, which is the most important thing to take out of this round. What's more: now that her Speed drop has decayed, she's been returned to her former Chlorophyll-boosted glory. Can Akela continue this comeback?

if this were normal weather with no items, i'd say this was infeasible due to priority issues (i asked ZT and he agreeed). however, since the sun stone makes solarbeam's priority 0 and removes the charge, and since synthesis has 0 priority already and doesn't get altered at all by said sun stone, these issues no longer persist (he also agreed to this).

Heading into the third round, both Exclaimer and Akela have replaced their Pokemon to send in replacements! On Exclaimer's side, the lovely Aftae makes her appearance; this was expected, as the two are quite attached. On Akela's side, the mysterious Accelgor, Waterhead. He appears to be in silent contemplation and thought. Ahh, yes, contemplation...

*DRAPION SCREAMING IN THE DISTANCE*

Did you hear something? Must have been my imagination. Anyway, the two combatants are at the ready, and as soon as the orders go through, Waterhead disappears without a trace. Instead, a Substitute in the shape of a small log stands where he used to be, slightly spinning in place. Unable to see where the crafty little bug went off to, Aftae gathers lunar energy into a huge, Life Orb boosted Moonblast, which hits the Substitute square in the...jaw? Branch? Something like that. Surprisingly, the Substitute is still standing, even after that deadly blast. Obviously, much time and care went into the creation of that Substitute.

Waterhead comes darting through the sunset-filled ruins, passing by Aftae and releasing a special gas: the Struggle Bug technique! This attack, while weak, lowers Gardevoir's Special Attack stat, decreasing her offensive presence, if only a little. Meanwhile, Aftae doesn't even know what hit her, and continues to focus on the Substitute, throwing it against the wall with a Psychic attack. This impact finally causes the log to split in two. Hopefully, Aftae can find Waterhead among the stones now.

And, like the ninja he is, Waterhead appears from nowhere and emits a Bug Buzz, creating an--ow--incredibly sharp-sounding noise that we didn't soundproof, thanks, Colosseum organizers...gosh, that hurts...anyways, the attack is pretty effective, and gives Aftae a hard time hearing, as well. But, now that the Substitute was gone, Aftae could successfully counter-attack with another Moonblast, which hits critically and ignores the Special Attack drop from before! What disaster!

All in all, this round could have gone much worse for Akela. While Aftae clearly dominated in the damage department, it wasn't nearly as one-sided as the previous matchup, and Waterhead has a blisteringly high Speed advantage. How will the future rounds unfold? Will Aftae continue despite her lowered stats? Who knows!

The harsh battle between Accelgor and Gardevoir rages on, and despite all the time that's gone by, the sunset hasn't changed a bit. Will we see the climax of this matchup in this round?

Waterhead is still fast, nearly immeasurably so, and before Aftae can even react, a glowing purple Sludge Bomb streaks through the air and hits for impressive damage. Switching gears from solid STABs to type coverage seems to be working in Akela's favor here. But, in what I would call an unexpected twist, Aftae retaliates with a massive Hyper Beam, blasting back with even more damage! I always thought Gardevoir was supposed to save those for Mega Evolution, but I suppose Life Orb can suffice.

Spamming one move is never a good strategy, so Waterhead switches it up and decides to pile on more stat drop with a caustic Acid Spray attack! The burning viscous liquid not only gets a critical hit, but also lowers Gardevoir's Special Defense harshly, which could severely impact the coming rounds. But, what good do those stat drops do if your best move is Disabled? We could just look at Waterhead for that, since he's now missing Sludge Bomb from his moveset. Aftae is breathing a sigh of relief; I don't blame her, Sludge Bomb is gross.

Unfortunately, Waterhead didn't have any orders in the case of Sludge Bomb being disabled, so he simply Struggles and wonders why he can't use his move. An unbefitting show of desperation, for sure. The attack does minimal damage, of course, and the Accelgor hurts himself in the process. Aftae uses this opportunity to predict an attack without a hitch using Future Sight. Looks like the first part of next round is going to hurt even more!

With Future Sight incoming and Waterhead's HP low, things are looking pretty grim for the little bug. But, there's always a silver lining; he's still faster, and Aftae did take quite a lot of damage this round as well.

Waterhead narrows his eyes as he stares from his position atop one of the broken pillars. He knows Future Sight is coming, and intends to take it head-on. Aftae, on the other hand, is wrapped in smug confidence. Does she know something that we don't?

With the impending damage of Future Sight looming over Waterhead's conscience, he ponders his orders. There's no time to waste; Aftae would gladly just sit still and let her pre-cognitive energies destroy him. But, as is the honorable way, he springs into action, leaping into the air and emitting a deadly red beam: a Giga Drain! This attack saps some of Gardevoir's HP. Maybe this will be enough to stave off the damage? Aftae seems to think otherwise, and adopts Waterhead's plan of healing off damage. A Draining Kiss leaves Waterhead quite wounded and Aftae quite refreshed. After both attacks subside, an eerie quiet falls over the colosseum before Waterhead mysteriously falls over, KO'd.

The minor healing couldn't quite keep Waterhead alive to execute the rest of his plans. Now, Akela has to deal with being down one Pokemon in this match. Who will replace Accelgor?

TMkGmBW.png
Looking over the orders again, I feel Oberon may be right on this one. Liepard is fast, has good coverage, and a bag of tricks rivaling even the trickiest, Bagheera's incredibly low Special Defense is a bad omen of things to come.

Nonetheless, the Liepard musters up a Gunk Shot--don't ask me how that works--and fires the magnificently crafted ball of poison straight at Aftae. The attack hits its mark, and Gardevoir is even poisoned in the process. But, due to her ability Synchronize, she turns the tables by poisoning Liepard as well. I have to say, Aftae's Life Orb-boosted Draining Kiss is the most powerful draining move I've ever seen, and it shows as it tears through Bagheera's HP and leaves Aftae refreshed and relatively unscathed (except for the poison, of course.)

Changing things up, Bagheera coats his tail in blindingly bright steel and slams into Aftae with an Iron Tail attack. All of these super bright attacks coupled with the sunset is kind of disorienting, but it definitely adds to the flashiness of the battle.
metang.gif

[HUMOR LEVELS: NEGLIGIBLE. THAT WAS REALLY BAD.]
TMkGmBW.png
Aaaanyway, another Draining Kiss from Aftae continues to even the playing field with its immense power. Despite Liepard's high Attack and coverage, Aftae keeps healing off nearly all of his damage! This battle seems to be going nowhere fast.

One last Gunk Shot hits dead center, once again splashing Aftae with more unwanted sludge. It isn't so bad, though; Draining Kiss comes through once again and nearly neutralizes all of that damage. Spectacular. I had no idea using one move over and over was so powerful.

Bagheera is in an incredibly bad position. Without Draining Kiss holding him back, this matchup would have been over quite easily. But, while definitely worse for wear, Aftae is still going strong, and easily threatens the KO next round. Can Akela turn this around?

This'll be a short round, folks, so pay attention! This round will decide who wins this matchup, and, by extension, who needs to replace their Pokemon.

Bagheera's Gunk Shot trails through the air, and...hits! Aftae is finally knocked out, and Akela gets some room to breathe in this battle.
