[OVERVIEW]

Exeggutor's niche in the PU tier is being a sun sweeper with access to Chlorophyll, doubling its Speed in sun. It also has a massive base 125 Special Attack stat with a 120-Base Power STAB Solar Beam and coverage in Psyshock to hit specially defensive Pokemon like Hitmonchan and Eelektross. Exeggutor has decent physical bulk, which lets it switch into resisted moves like Close Combat from Primeape and Zing Zap from Togedemaru, and it also resists priority moves like Mach Punch and Aqua Jet from Gurdurr, Hitmonchan, and Carracosta. Unfortunately, Exeggutor is weak to the prevalent Sucker Punch from Pokemon like Skuntank, Absol, and Spiritomb and has to rely on Sleep Powder to get around users of the move. Exeggutor has low special bulk, so it takes heavy damage from strong special attacks like Chatot's Boomburst. Exeggutor also has a low base Speed of 55, so even under sun, Exeggutor is still outsped by Choice Scarf users such as Primeape and Togedemaru. Exeggutor also possesses a crippling 4x weakness to Bug, leaving it rather vulnerable to U-turn from Pokemon like Mesprit and the previously mentioned Choice Scarf users. Outside of sun, Exeggutor is effectively unable to use one of its STAB moves, Solar Beam, leaving it more vulnerable to Pokemon such as Golurk and Mesprit. Finally, Exeggutor faces strong competition from other sun sweepers such as Victreebel, Sawsbuck, and Leafeon and competes with them for a teamslot on sun teams.

Solar Beam is Exeggutor's strongest STAB move; it is very spammable while sun is active, and it has the power to OHKO most offensive Pokemon in the tier like Jynx and Spiritomb after Stealth Rock damage. Psyshock lets Exeggutor hit specially defensive Pokemon in the tier such as Assault Vest Hitmonchan and Assault Vest Eelektross harder than Psychic and Solar Beam. Psychic allows Exeggutor to hit physically defensive Pokemon like Weezing hard. Hidden Power Fire is boosted while sun is active and allows Exeggutor to hit opposing Grass-, Bug-, and Steel-types like Lurantis, Pinsir, and Alolan Dugtrio for super effective damage. Sleep Powder is the preferred last option to cripple Pokemon that Exeggutor won't be able to OHKO like Oricorio-G and allow teammates to potentially use Sunny Day again. Sleep Powder is also Exeggutor's only way to get around the move Sucker Punch, which otherwise gives it trouble. Sunny Day is an option for the fourth moveslot to let Exeggutor set its own sun to start its sweep, but Exeggutor does not find much opportunities to use it due to its low Speed and vulnerability to faster threats.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in Special Attack and Speed allow Exeggutor to do as much damage as it can and be as fast as possible while sun is active. A Modest nature is preferred to boost Exeggutor's power by a little bit. A Timid nature could be used to let Exeggutor outspeed Jolly Aggron and Mild Abomasnow outside of sun and Choice Scarf Pinsir while sun is active, but a Modest nature is preferred for the extra boost in power. A Life Orb is run to maximize Exeggutor's damage output to make it a better sweeper and wallbreaker. It is preferred over Choice Specs so Exeggutor is able to freely spam its STAB attacks. Chlorophyll is the main ability run on Exeggutor so it can have its Speed doubled while sun is active.

Usage Tips
========

As soon as sun is set up, it is ideal to bring in Exeggutor to start attempting to sweep. Exeggutor can be brought in safely on a resisted move like Golurk's Earthquake, with U-turn from Liepard, Mesprit, or Volbeat, or from a free switch after Regirock has used Explosion. While Exeggutor is on the field, it should be using its offensive moves as much as possible. Hidden Power Fire is boosted by sun and hits Fire-weak Pokemon very hard. Solar Beam is very spammable and can break through defensive cores while sun is active. Before sun ends, using Sleep Powder would be ideal if Exeggutor is outsped the next turn so it can either do more damage or switch out to one of the team's sun setters like Mesprit or Liepard. If Exeggutor is running Sunny Day as the fourth move, it is best to use it when Exeggutor is brought in against something like Clefairy that can't deal meaningful damage to Exeggutor so it can set sun freely. Exeggutor struggles against the multitude of Dark-types in the tier and is very weak to Sucker Punch. To get around this, Exeggutor has to use Sleep Powder so the Dark-types like Absol are unable to OHKO it, and Exeggutor gets free turn to attack them.

Team Options
========

Exeggutor should always be run with Pokemon that are able to use Sunny Day if it is not running the move itself. Liepard and Volbeat are great teammates for Exeggutor, as they have a priority Sunny Day thanks to Prankster. Bulky sun setters like Regirock and Mesprit also complement Exeggutor. Regirock can always get up a Sunny Day due to Sturdy preventing it from being KOed, and it and Mesprit set up Stealth Rock so Exeggutor has a better chance to KO opposing Pokemon. Having a Fire-type on the team helps Exeggutor break past foes even more easily. Pokemon like Pyroar and Turtonator have their Fire-type STAB attacks boosted by sun, which lets them break past special walls like Assault Vest Eelektross to support Exeggutor. Pairing up Exeggutor with other Chlorophyll users is a necessity. Leafeon and Sawsbuck are faster Chlorophyll users that are able to beat Choice Scarf users like Primeape and Togedemaru that can outspeed and KO Exeggutor under sun. Leafeon and Sawsbuck appreciate Exeggutor being able to OHKO Weezing, which resists their Grass-type moves.

Other Options
=============

Exeggutor can attempt to run a Life Orb or Choice Specs set with Leaf Storm and Psychic or Psyshock to punish slower Pokemon without sun support, but it is outclassed by other special wallbreakers like Pyroar, Aurorus, and Choice Specs Mesprit due to their higher Speed and better defensive typings. Despite its lower Speed, Alolan Exeggutor in particular outclasses Exeggutor at this role due to its better offensive and defensive typing. Harvest SubSeed Exeggutor is another option that can be used on balance teams. However, this set is very weak to Knock Off, which permanently removes the berry Exeggutor is holding and makes Harvest useless, and Exeggutor finds itself again outclassed by Alolan Exeggutor's Harvest set. Colbur Berry is an alternative over Life Orb that gives Exeggutor an easier time against Pokemon like Absol and other Dark-types that utilize Sucker Punch, but it sacrifices the power it would have if it was running Life Orb or Choice Specs. Exeggutor could also be run under Trick Room; by taking advantage of its low Speed and using an EV spread of 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD with a Quiet nature, Exeggutor could still function as a decent wallbreaker. However, Exeggutor is still outclassed under Trick Room by Drampa and Alolan Exeggutor because of their lower Speed stats and stronger special coverage in Draco Meteor. When using Sunny Day, Exeggutor can run Heat Rock to extend the number of turns sun is active on the field. However, it is not preferred over items like Life Orb that help to boost Exeggutor's damage output, and dedicated sun setters like Liepard should be carrying Heat Rock instead of Exeggutor.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Attackers**: Despite Exeggutor's Speed being doubled in sun, it is still outsped by Choice Scarf users with base 95 Speed and above like Primeape, Jynx, and Togedemaru. Those Pokemon threaten to OHKO Exeggutor. When sun is not up and Exeggutor is on the field, it is even outsped by slow wallbreakers like Aggron, and they can KO Exeggutor with super effective moves or force it out.

**Opposing Weather Setters**: Snow Warning users like Aurorus and Abomasnow cancel out sun with their hail, and if they are brought in on Solar Beam, Exeggutor is forced to wait a turn charging, draining momentum from Exeggutor's team. Also, Liepard can switch in on Psyshock and then proceed to set up rain or cripple Exeggutor with Thunder Wave, stopping it hard in its tracks from doing its job as a sweeper.

**Dark-types**: Dark-types like Skuntank and Spiritomb can easily Pursuit trap Exeggutor, shutting it down from sweeping. Skuntank is especially effective, as resists Exeggutor's STAB combination. Furthermore, Pokemon like Absol and Alolan Raticate, despite only outspeeding it when sun is not active, can pressure Exeggutor with Sucker Punch and force it to use Sleep Powder or switch out. If Exeggutor switches out against these Pokemon, they get a free opportunity to set up with Swords Dance. Shiftry is also a problem, as it resists Exeggutor's STAB combination and is immune to Sleep Powder thanks to its Grass typing.

• Being x4 to Bug does not help either, as Scarf Primeape and Scarf Togedemaru outspeed +2 Exeggutor and OHKO it with U-Turn
• Regardless, Exeggutor is one of the best pokemon on sun teams (a bit of an exaggeration.) and should be considered as an option on all sun teams for its devastating power.

• Removing sleep immune pokemon like Magmortar or Komala is ideal so Exeggutor is able to use Sleep Powder to cripple opposing pokemon.

• Pairing up Exeggutor with other Chlorophyll users is also beneficial. Leafeon and Sawsbuck are faster Chlorophyll users that are able to outspeed base 95 scarfers like Primeape and can get rid of them so nothing on the opposing side is able to outspeed Exeggutor. (they also outspeed scarf ape, which outspeeds and u-turns on eggy, and the other scarfers you mentioned earlier.)

• Life Orb is run to maximise Exeggutor's damage and making it a stronger sweeper and wallbreaker.
• Chlorophyll is the main ability run on Exeggutor for it to be able to have its Speed doubled.

Usage Tips
========

• As soon as sun is set up, it is ideal to bring in Exeggutor to start its job to sweep. To safely bring in Exeggutor, you can bring it on a resisted move like Earthquake from a Golurk or bring it on a free switch, either Liepard or Mesprit's U-Turn or when Regirock has fainted after using Explosion. I feel as though Volbeat should definitely be mentioned somewhere.
• While Exeggutor is on the field, it should be using its offensive moves as much as possible. Hidden Power Fire is boosted by sun and hits pokemon weak to fire very hard. Solar Beam is very spammable and can break through defensive cores while sun is active. Before sun ends its turn, using Sleep Powder would be ideal to use if Exeggutor is outsped the next turn so it can either do more damage or switch out into one of the team's sun setters like Mesprit or Liepard.
• Removing sleep immune pokemon like Magmortar or Komala is ideal so Exeggutor is able to use Sleep Powder to cripple opposing pokemon. Is this neccesary? Being able to spam Sleep Powder freely doesn't feel like a big concern to me.
• If Exeggutor is running Sunny Day as the fourth move, it is best to use it when Exeggutor is brought in against something that is passive, like Ferroseed, who can't damage Exeggutor and gives it an easier chance to set up Sunny Day.

Team Options
========

• Exeggutor should run with pokemon that are able to set up Sunny Day if it is not running it as a fourth move. Liepard is a great teammate for Exeggutor, as it has a priority boosted Sunny Day thanks to its ability Prankster. Bulky sun setters like Regirock and Mesprit complement Exeggutor. Regirock can always get up a Sunny Day due to Sturdy preventing it from being KO'd and it and Mesprit set up Stealth Rock so Exeggutor has a better chance to KO opposing pokemon Eggy should have sun setters regardless of whether it has Sunny Day itself. Also mention Volbeat.
• Having a dedicated Fire type on the team helps Exeggutor break past opponents even easier. Pokemon like Pyroar and Magmortar have their Fire STAB boosted by sun and are able to break past special walls like Miltank, who gives Exeggutor an easier time to wallbreak past opposing pokemon.
• Pairing up Exeggutor with other Chlorophyll users is also beneficial. Leafeon and Sawsbuck are faster Chlorophyll users that are able to outspeed scarfers like Primeape and Togedemaru, who outspeed+2 Exeggutor and uses U-Turn against it and can get rid of them so nothing on the opposing side is able to outspeed Exeggutor.

• Exeggutor can be just a wallbreaker without sun with moves like Leaf Storm, Psychic/Psyshock and can utilise Life Orb or Choice Specs to punish slower pokemon. Unfortunately, it is outclassed by other special wallbreakers like Magmortar, Aurorus and Specs Mesprit, due to their higher speed, better defensive typings and they are not x4 weak to U-Turn.
• Harvest is another option with a defensive Exeggutor set on balance teams. However, this set is very weak to Knock Off, which permanently removes the berry Exeggutor is holding. I feel as though SubSeed specifically deserves a mention alongside Harvest.
• Lum Berry Exeggutor is a good status switch-in into moves like Will-o-Wisp, Thunder Wave or Scald but afterwards, it could just be KO'd by the pokemon it switched in against. Scald users like Swanna and Assault Vest Lanturn have a super effective move like Hurricane or Ice Beam to deal significant damage to Exeggutor. I don't think Lum Berry really deserves a mention since Eggy doesn't mind burns and is very rarely being statused outside of being switched directly into said moves. Also has to forgo LO, sacrificing power.
• The wallbreaker set could substitute Life Orb/Choice Specs for Colbur Berry so it is able to tank one super effective Dark move. However, the difference in damage compared to Life Orb is very apparent.
• Exeggutor could also be run under Trick Room, using its low speed to its advantage and using the set 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD with a Quiet nature, Exeggutor could still function as a decent wallbreaker. However, Exeggutor is still outclassed under Trick Room by Drampa and Exeggutor-Alola because of their lower speed and stronger special coverage in Draco Meteor.

Life Orb is run to maximise Exeggutor's damage and making it a stronger sweeper and wallbreaker. It is preferred over Choice Specs so Exeggutor is able to freely spam its STAB. Chlorophyll is the main ability run on Exeggutor for it to be able to have its Speed doubled while sun is active.

Usage Tips

As soon as sun is set up, it is ideal to bring in Exeggutor to start its job to sweep. To safely bring in Exeggutor, you can bring it on a resisted move like Earthquake from a Golurk or bring it on a free switch, from either Liepard, Mesprit or Volbeat's U-Turn or when Regirock has fainted after using Explosion. While Exeggutor is on the field, it should be using its offensive moves as much as possible. Hidden Power Fire is boosted by sun and hits pokemon weak to fire very hard. Solar Beam is very spammable and can break through defensive cores while sun is active. Before sun ends its turn, using Sleep Powder would be ideal to use if Exeggutor is outsped the next turn so it can either do more damage or switch out into one of the team's sun setters like Mesprit or Liepard. If Exeggutor is running Sunny Day as the fourth move, it is best to use it when Exeggutor is brought in against something that is passive, like Ferroseed, who can't damage Exeggutor and gives it an easier chance to set up Sunny Day. Exeggutor struggles against the multitude of Dark-types in the tier and is very weak to Sucker Punch. Exeggutor can be just a wallbreaker without sun with moves like Leaf Storm, Psychic/Psyshock and can utilise Life Orb or Choice Specs to punish slower pokemon. Unfortunately, it is outclassed by other special wallbreakers like Pyroar, Aurorus and Specs Mesprit, due to their higher speed, better defensive typings and they are not x4 weak to U-Turn it's mostly just outclassed by alolan eggy which has 10x better offensive and defensive typing. Harvest SubSeed Exeggutor is another option that can be used on balance teams. However, this set is very weak to Knock Off, which permanently removes the berry Exeggutor is holding, making Harvest useless and is outclassed by alolan eggy. Colbur Berry Exeggutor with Harvest dont even mention harvest, just colbur on sun so u dont get bopped by sucker punches gives it an easier time against pokemon like Absol and other pokemon that utilise Knock Off but it sacrifices the power it would have if it was running Life Orb or Choice Specs. The wallbreaker set could substitute Life Orb/Choice Specs for Colbur Berry with Harvest so it is able to tank one super effective Dark move and idek why colbur is even being mentioned again at all, it doesnt need these extra few sentences. However, the difference in damage compared to Life Orb is very apparent and it is still very weak to Knock Off. Exeggutor could also be run under Trick Room, using its low speed to its advantage and using the set 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD with a Quiet nature, Exeggutor could still function as a decent wallbreaker. However, Exeggutor is still outclassed under Trick Room by Drampa and Exeggutor-Alola because of their lower speed and stronger special coverage in Draco Meteor. Exeggutor is able to also utilise Heat Rock to extend the amount of turns sun is active on the field. However, it is not preferred over items like Life Orb, which help to boost Exeggutor's damage output and dedicated sun setters like Liepard should be carrying Heat Rock instead of Exeggutor.

When sun is not up and Exeggutor is on the field, it is still outsped by even slow wallbreakers like Kingler and they can KO Exeggutor with super effective moves or force it out.

**Opposing Weather Setters**: Snow Warning Aurorus or Abomasnow cancel out sun with their hail and if brought in on a Solar Beam, Exeggutor is forced to wait a turn charging, draining momentum of Exeggutor's team. Also, Liepard can switch in on a Psyshock and then proceed to set up rain or cripple Exeggutor with Thunder Wave, stopping it hard in its tracks from doing its job as a sweeper.

**Dark Types**: Dark types like Skuntank and Spiritomb can easily Pursuit trap Exeggutor, shutting it down from sweeping. Skuntank especially resists Exeggutor's dual-STAB. Furthermore without sun, Exeggutor is outsped by the likes of Absol and Raticate-Alola and is pressured by Sucker Punch so it is forced to switch or go for Sleep Powder. Shiftry is also a problem, who also resists Exeggutor's dual STAB and is immune to Sleep Powder thanks to its Grass typing. Especially for Raticate-Alola and Absol, if Exeggutor switches out, they get a free turn to set up Swords Dance.

Exeggutor has decent physical bulk to switch in to, (AC) which lets it switch into resisted moves like Close Combat from a Primeape or and Zing Zap from Togedemaru, (AC) and it also resists priority moves like Mach Punch and Aqua Jet from Gurdurr, Hitmonchan, (AC) and Carracosta. Unfortunately, Exeggutor is weak to the prevalent Sucker Punch from Pokemon like Skuntank, Absol, (AC) and Spiritomb and has to rely on Sleep Powder to get around this users of the move. Exeggutor could also be run under Trick Room; by taking advantage of its low Speed and using an EV spread of 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD with a Quiet nature, Exeggutor could still function as a decent wallbreaker. However, Exeggutor is still outclassed under Trick Room by Drampa and Alolan Exeggutor because of their lower Speed stats and stronger special coverage in Draco Meteor. When using Sunny Day, Exeggutor can run a Heat Rock to extend the amount number of turns sun is active on the field. However, it is not preferred over items like Life Orb that help to boost Exeggutor's damage output, and dedicated sun setters like Liepard should be carrying Heat Rock instead of Exeggutor.

Checks and Counters

**Faster Attackers**: Despite Exeggutor's Speed being doubled in sun, it is still outsped by Choice Scarf users with base 95 Speed and above Speed like Primeape, Jynx, and Togedemaru. Those Pokemon threaten to OHKO Exeggutor. When sun is not up and Exeggutor is on the field, it is even outsped by slow wallbreakers like Kingler, and they can KO Exeggutor with super effective moves or force it out.

**Opposing Weather Setters**: Snow Warning users like Aurorus and Abomasnow cancel out sun with their hail, and if they are brought in on Solar Beam, Exeggutor is forced to wait a turn charging, draining momentum from Exeggutor's team. Also, Liepard can switch in on Psyshock and then proceed to set up rain or cripple Exeggutor with Thunder Wave, stopping it hard in its tracks from doing its job as a sweeper.

**Dark-types**: Dark-types like Skuntank and Spiritomb can easily Pursuit trap Exeggutor, shutting it down from sweeping. Skuntank is especially effective, as resists Exeggutor's STAB combination. Furthermore, Pokemon like Absol and Alolan Raticate, despite only outspeeding it when sun is not active, can pressure Exeggutor with Sucker Punch and force it to use Sleep Powder or switch out. If Exeggutor switches out against these Pokemon, they get a free opportunity to set up with Swords Dance. Shiftry is also a problem, as it resists Exeggutor's STAB combination and is immune to Sleep Powder thanks to its Grass typing.
