Hi, the team I'm trying to improve now was initially a team based around a calm minding diancie set, but as of now, diancie has been removed and I just decided to revise some sets on the original members and add some new ones as well. I'm still changing some things around, but I seem to be running in circles at this point and maybe it's a lack of experience, but I don't really know what to do to improve my team. Also, none of the members of the team are "mandatory" as in the state it is in now, it's not really built around a certain Poke.
Metagross @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Hammer Arm/Bullet Punch
I run a pretty standard bulky Metagross set with full ev's in both Atk and HP to survive hits and deal massive damage. Because of Metagross's huge bulk I can set up rocks most of the time without danger and if I get status Florges can take care of it. I'm not sure whether or not I should run Hammer Arm in place of Bullet Punch because although the priority is nice, Hammer Arm can leave a huge dent in Blissey and Bulk up and DD Scrafty and because Metagross is slow anyway, the speed drop doesn't hurt it much.
Blastoise @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Dragon Pulse/Ice Beam
- Water Pulse
- Dark Pulse
Mega-Blastoise is my rapid spinner and basically a great check/counter to the offensive fire types that run rampant in UU such as Entei, Darmanitan, Arcanine and Infernape. In addition, it can hit assault Vest Toxicroaks looking for a free switch-in with dragon pulse ridiculously hard while dark pulse handles the likes of Jirachi, Celebi and Metagross.
Chesnaught @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Spiky Shield
- Leech Seed
- Seed Bomb
I think that Chesnaught is highly underrated as this set even without pure reliable recovery is able to live through most of the match with help from Florges of course. I set up spikes on predicted grass type switch-ins predicting the leech seed and once I see that Chesnaught has run out of uses, I stay in on Pokes like Darmanitan and if Chesnaught lives, I set up leech seed and proceed to chip away at the health with a combination of spiky shield, rocky helmet and leech seed. Seed Bomb is just a filler move on Chesnaught and I'm looking for a replacement that would fit this team more nicely.
Florges (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy
- Wish
- Protect
In my opinion, Florges is probably the best specially defensive pokemon in UU. Its ability to pass of wishes and cure status ailments is invaluable to my team and with its surprisingly high special attack can take out some offensive pokes that get cocky enough to set-up on it. The weaknesses of Florges is covered very well by Metagross as it is resistant to steel and immune to poison. In addition, Florges can take special hits that try to hit Metagross's weaker defensive side and wish off the chip damage.
Haxorus @ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 16 HP / 252 Atk / 240 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
In most of my matches, Haxorous is the win-condition as after 1 dragon dance it can completely wreck teams. I carry the lum berry over life orb to make sure I get at least one DD on pokemon that like to carry will-o-wisp such as defensive Arcanine and Defensive Rotom-H. Earthquake is non-negotiable as after 1 DD it can 2HKO most variants of Mega-Aggron. Thanks to poison jab, the only pokemon that really hard-counters Haxorous is Bronzong, but a combination of Mega-Blastoise and Rotom-H can take it down very easily.
Rotom-Heat @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Trick
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
- Thunderbolt
Trick is one of my most favorite moves ever mainly because it's so fun to use. Special walls or defensive ground types predicting volt switches are taken by surprise and made completely useless and crocune, one of the most annoying sets is turned to garbage after tricking a choice scarf. In addition, eviolite users are crippled as well and after having their eviolite taken away are most likely 2HKO'ed by overheat.
After playing around with this team for a while, I find that Nidoking, Nidoqueen, any variant of Lucario and Curselax to be huge threats to the team. None of my team members can really take a life orb+ Sheer Force hit and most of the time I have to sac a pokemon just to kill it. Also, if Rotom-H is down, I can't really check Lucario as the rest of my teams is very slow and if it has an SD or a nasty plot can sweep my whole team.

Diancie was the very first pokemon on the team and due to its 4x steel weakness and weakness to water, grass and ground, I put in two more bulky pokemon in the form of Mega-Blastoise and Chesnaught
At this point, I decided that I would need a strong physical sweeper that could completely destroy both physical and special walls. After browsing the pool of pokemon in UU I decided upon haxorous as he is incredibly powerful already even without a dragon dance. Also, to make up for the slow nature of my team and to complete the fire, water, grass core I added in a choice scarfed infernape.
For the last member of my team, because I was lacking a special wall, I decided to put in a porygon-2 as he is extremely annoying and I thought that my three bulky pokemon in Diancie, Chesnaught and Blastoise could handle all fighting-type attacks thrown at it.
I rolled with this team for a while, and it had some success, but at this point I was starting to doubt the prowess of Diancie because all it did in most games was set up rocks and act as a second specially defensive wall. So, I decided to completely replace diancie with a much better special wall IMO with Florges. Florges was fantastic as it could pass of wishes, cure status and take on hydreigon's flash cannons with ease. Next, to somewhat alleviate my fairy-type weakness I replaced my porygon-2 with an offensive metagross that carried SR. After testing out more movesets and pokemon on my team, the final decision I made was replacing infernape with rotom-h, and that is the state my team is in now.
The reason I called this team the name up above is because it contains the Fire, Water, Grass core in the form of Blastoise, Chesnaught and Rotom-h and also Metagross, Florges and Haxorous have nice synergy as well. Although the team has now become somewhat of a "standard" team, I still want ideas on how to improve it.
