F1 2009

If by support you mean watch occasionally, I do... although less and less every year.

Got to say I'm glad there seems to be a bit more balance between teams now than there was in the past years.

I don't have a favorite driver since Jacques Villeneuve left, maybe that is why I haven't been watching it as much.

I am a massive F1 fan, since about the age of 5 when I saw Ralf and Michael crash into each other at the Nurburgring.

Current favourite is Nick Heidfeld, although I do hope Kimi gets the Mercedes drive tbh.

Oh and Vineon there is talk of Villeneuve returning.

Yeah Villeneuve is linked to one of the new teams, USF1 I believe.

I'm a Formula One fan as well, and I watch most races.

Kimi ending up at Mercedes is plausible, though there were rumors that Schumacher himself would take the vacant seat. :o

That would be fantastic.

That, coupled with the Montréal Grand Prix returning this year after a year off would definitely make me a big fan again.

I might even go this year, I live so near the track I can hear the cars from home.

I've been meaning to get into it more, and I watched it casually last year so I may start buckling down on following it more closely. :> ESPN is horrendous at covering it apart from giant-important races, though.

Kimi has announced he will take a sabbatical, while negotiations with Schumi broke down early.

F1 has let me down in the last years, but after the spectacular last season, I am looking forward for the next one. The entry of several privateers, following the success of Brawn (tough the structure was bought from a works team, Honda), widening the grid to 26, may make F1 go back to it's good years, provided we have the same balance as in the last season.
The opportunities being given to newbies are an added plus. It will be important to keep an eye on Brunno Senna, as well as in Niko Hulkenberg. Probably more will join them, since not even half the rooster is confirmed (and of course I am amazingly happy for the rumours linking Alvaro Parente to Manor GP xD).

Montreal is always an awesome race too, its really a shame it was taken off the calender in the first place.

I'd actually like to see Parente in F1 next year, although another season of GP2 I think would do wonders since he came on so strong at the end of the season.

I do support F1, and I have watched the races when I can.
Schumacher was injured in an motocross race (his neck) so he can't drive right now.
Hamilton is my favorite.

I supported Robert Kubica for a time, especially in 2008, but when he started dropping in 2009 I was losing hope. Hope he does better in 2010 with Renault.

Kubicaq is good, but I think he is slightly overrated to be honest. I don't understand the hype over him because even though he was pretty damn good last year, in 09 he was generally bad, and only had the odd few good performances this season. I don't get how everyone thinks Kubica is so much better than Heidfeld either - overall since Kubica joined Heidfeld outscored him.

Ironically, I think Renault will quit the sport and Kubica will partner Rosberg at Mercedes, even though i'd rather see Kubica, Heidfeld or Schumacher instead.

Renault, they were caught cheating in the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, Nelson Piquet Jr. was ordered to crash to allow Alonso to benefit. Tsk tsk. They received a 2 year ban, but why are they in 2010 Formula 1...? When will the ban take place?

I have really got into the sport in the last 2 years, and will be rooting for Red Bull(so long as thry have webber).

It was a suspended ban so if they do anything similar they will be banned from the sport. I highly doubt they would jeapordise their position like that though. There just have been a lot of rumours recently about Renaults future and it is hard to ignore the fact they have just caused the biggest scandal in the sports history.

Glad to see an F1 thread, it's the only sport I follow closely. I started watching a few in 2001, and properly started in 2002. Since then I have watched almost all of the Grand Prix, barring a couple (mostly due to holidays). I think I love it more than all other sports simply because it was the only one I enjoyed following at a young age.

I used to support Ralf, I was a huge fan - I actually have a hand signed picture from Ralf to myself, courtesy of a link to my uncle. I have still watched since Ralf left, which in a way made it more interesting as I didn't mind who would win, I literally started caring about close Championships as opposed to Ralf doing as well as possible. I kind of wanted Button to win it this year though, because not only did he dominate early he also grew up in tiny Frome, which is about 10 miles away from me.

Next year, I am probably supporting Massa. Despite not taking a huge liking to Ferrari, I love Massa's attitude to the sport. I kind of wanted him to beat Hamilton in 2008, but it was a good Championship even though he didn't. Either way, it should be good next year with Massa back and lots of new teams joining the mix.

Interesting news though: Sauber have rebought BMW (source). Glad to see they are sticking around, fingers crossed they get a place on the grid next year.

The ban is on Flavio Briatorre, the team director, for life.
Kubitca had bad equipment, so that's why he failed.
Look at Mercedes. (NOT McClaren.)
They figured out the new car, along with Red Bull, and that's why they did good.
I wish Alonso would go die in a hole (he's going to Ferrari.)

Peter Sauber is an old fox of the F1 circus, having built a team solely out of his expertise (exemplified by the magnificent Mercedes-Sauber C9), using past-year engines, and still managing to be a regular in the top 8.
Seeing Sauber leave would be as much of a shame as if Williams left.

Anything against Ferrari? If so, I hope you die in that same hole if it ever happens:P (just kinding, but please be a little less 'aggresive')

Anyways, I did watched a lot of races of this season, but did miss some because of work. Too bad Button won the Championship, although he deserved it, I just have something against Brawn GP.

I hope that we can get a good season next year like 2007 and 2008, where the title was decided in Brazil in the very last race, or even in the last round. Rooting for Ferrari and especially Massa, but I wouldn't mind if Vettel or Hamilton would get the Championship.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that today Sutil and Liuzzi were confirmed for Force India in 2010. Glad to see both continuing, I think they both have a lot more to give provided that the car is somewhat decent. Liuzzi might challenge Sutil a bit more now after finishing the season as the second driver.

They haven't confirmed any third driver yet, though.

i want to see kobayashi again, he did very well in the races he was in.
enjoyed this season, next season though, i dont liek the no refueling idea, but it does prove to have some epic teams this year, bawn bought by mercedes with 2 german drivers, and hamilton AND button at mclaren

Last time we had a no-pit-something, Raikonnen almost got whacked.
And yes. Even tough McLaren engines will still be provided by Mercedes, we are in for a Anglo-German-Italian battle like in the old days, except with McLaren instead of Lotus.

Speaking of Lotus. I am apreensive of this return as an almost 100% malasian team. Not just bad results, but also the lack of tradition. This is completly new entry with the Lotus name, having NO links to the formerly glorious Team Lotus. In fact, the team will be called Team F1 Lotus due to the Team Lotus name rights having been bought by Litespeed, a british F3 that made an unsuccessful bid at a team spot this year...

No, I am a big fan of Ferrari, it's just that I hate Alonso with all my being.
It's mainly because of what he did to McClaren last year.

Ok, same here actually. Love Ferrari, but hate Alonso. But maybe that will change in this season, if he drives good in the Ferrari of Kimi

We will never forget you Kimi :O:P

Been a fan of F1 since about 2002, but have watched it on and off since I will little.

Love Mclaren, dislike Button, like Hamilton, Kimi, Massa, Webber, hate Alonso (same reason as everybody else).

I can't wait for 2010!
I wonder what the cars will look like, hoping for another stunning Mclaren xD

In most anticipation for Lotus returning though, it's not really a pure Lotus team but they are my favourite car firm.

I'm not too fussed about F1, but I support Webber in driving but in terms of teams I'm going support to support Lotus next year as my dad owns a Lotus and is therefore my favourite car. It may not be associated with the former F1 team but it is associated with Lotus Cars as the team is owned by the Proton Powerbrokers (I think) and Proton owns Lotus.
