Monotype Fairy Tales

Hi and I'm back with another mono fairy team. That's because I'm using Sylveon in doubles and found it to have a better role there while here Clefable is being fab!
Please do help me in building as good a team as possible. I want to build it around Clefable this time.

Clefable

Clefable (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower

Clefable is the main star here. Calm Mind makes both Moonblast and Flamethrower really powerful, while also meaning Clefable can take a lot of hits and stay in the battle. Soft-Boiled is for healing up. I chose it over Moonlight because the weather is undependable and also Soft-Boiled heals more. Moonblast is the fairy move and Flamethrower is for steel, grass, ice, etc. The best thing about Clefable is its Magic Guard ability. No indirect attacks, status moves etc. Opponents regularly forget that and try to use Toxic, Leech Seed, Stealth Rock, etc on Clefable. It's really fun. Also, I chose Calm Mind over Cosmic Power, because I wanted to raise Sp At and Sp Def.

Klefki
2.png

Klefki (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Spikes
- Foul Play

Nothing much to say. Neutral to steel, immune to poison, can set up dual screens quickly thanks to prankster. Spikes is for hurting grounded foes and foul play is a dark move which Klefki has access to.

Azumarill
3.png

Azumarill (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off

Again not much to say. Water coverage with Aqua Jet, Play Rough is the fairy move, Knock Off can knock out Toxapex and several psychic and ghost opponents. Belly Drum powers them all and Sitrus Berry restores health.

Mimikyu
4.png

Mimikyu (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Shadow Claw
- Play Rough

This is also well known. Swords Dance to be set up under Disguise (hopefully). Then sweep with priority Shadow Sneak or with Shadow Claw. Play Rough for fairy type attack.

Tapu Bulu

5.png

Tapu Bulu @ Babiri Berry
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Horn Leech
- High Horsepower
- Close Combat
Tapu Bulu is here to hit steel and poison types with close combat and high horsepower. Also, ground types can be hit with horn leech. Swords dance powers up them all. Not much to say.

Tapu Lele

6.png

Tapu Lele @ Psychic Seed
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

I thought having a psychic type would be cool and I chose Lele over Gardevoir or Hatterene. Psychic Seed makes use of Psychic Surge and adds to Lele's defense. Psychic is mainly for poison types while Focus Blast is for steel types. I guess you can tell that I really hate steel and poison types. Maybe that's because I love fairies. Moonblast is the fairy move and Shadow Ball is to hit other psychic types as well as ghosts.

So that's all. What do you think?? Please give me your valuable suggestions.

Hello!
I will try to help since i played Fairy for quite a bit and i enjoyed using some teams i made or i found from good teambuilders like attribute.

This is an HO as i see, since u have screens and pretty much all setuppers.

:clefable: Clef set seems okay but i prefer Tbolt and Flamethrower as moving attacks, since they are both really good for steel + flying and water. Tbolt helps with things like mantine, scarf gapdos, can cause some trouble at heatran rather than mblast + I would run 8-12 speed EVs to outpace no investment Ttar and Steela (even tho steela usually is -speed so u don't really need them for it) I like tho the support set you can find on Smogon, you might also look at it to avoid having a full team of setup sweepers.

:klefki: Good standard set, again i prefer Toxic over Foul Play here since i utilized it in an Attribute's team and it's really helpful to hit things like NP (even scarf) Thund-T or just to put it on a lando or mantine or sub setup sweepers like dpult and spectrier.

:azumarill: Nice set, if u don't want to run max speed u could use 84 or 88 EVs in Speed to outspeed things like no investment Weezing-g, Magnezone, Swampert, Jellicent, Grimmsnarl, Primarina or Bewear. ** If you run 88 EVs make sure you keep even HP so u have to do something like 164 HP / 252+ Atk / 4 SpDef / 88 Speed

:mimikyu: I love this mon since i also enjoy playing Ghost. Set is good, i rather use Drain Punch other Shadow Claw to be able to hit steel types more strongly, and sometimes it helped me with LO recoil avoiding me to die.

:Tapu-Bulu: Great set but again,u could use some speed investment. 144 EVs can be fine to outspeed the same mon you outspeed with Azumarill and Clef.

:Tapu-lele: Only set i am concerned about. This helps u with dragalge for sure, but u already have Mimi and eventually Bulu. For the rest not sure if this set is good. No Choice item without Calm Mind is already strange, but no Choice item and even no Calm Mind seems even stranger to me in Mono. I think u should run at least CM over SBall, but i think that Specs Lele is just stronger. Choice Scarf helps u with Speed Control, and Sball is pretty useless since all those Ghosts u want to hit are always faster (Blacephalon, Spectrier, Dpult, Mimikyu) and for other psychic types, Moonblast should be good.

I think this team might be good, u can make some changes i suggested, but at the end i think u kinda miss some speed control. Scarf Lele might help but maybe with Screens and Mimikyu + eventually TWave Clef u might be able to handle them. I think Gengar is pretty deadly and maybe u will miss Koko sometimes, but then you will have to play good with your Mimi. I also see Tapu Fini is missing and imo he is really strong in the tier and cm + taunt behind screens can be so deadly even to Steel which most likely runs PWhip Thorn to kill it. I would then for sure put it over some mon, maybe even Tapu lele but that would be kinda autolosing to poison and playing good arround Dragalge in Dragon, so maybe i would remove Mimikyu and put Scarf Lele to have some speed control.

Hopefully this helps!

Hi again!

A lot of the main suggestions have been covered by AtraX Madara so I'm not gonna repeat those since they are all valid and good suggestions. Though I'll try to add on stuff which should improve the team.

:ss/hatterene: > :ss/Tapu Lele:
Hatterene (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick Room
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Psyshock

So I'm suggesting Hatterene because you're using Azumarill and since you only have one other tapu to remove psychic terrain, it can definitely limit Azumarill's sweeping ability (since you can't aqua jet under psychic terrain, unless it's vs fly), hence why I feel that Hatterene would be better. On Fairy, scarfing a mon isn't that essential so the lack of speed control is fine as long as you can utilise screens well. The set is standard, with evs in Defense to ensure it can set up as much as possible.

:ss/azumarill:
Azumarill (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 72 Def / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off
- Substitute
- Belly Drum
This is a set I've been using recently and its gotten me to 1700 on alts. I feel its quite unexpected too and the evs ensure celesteela heavy slam doesn't break up sub as long as you have screens up, allowing you to sweep steel and potentially poison (since u get a few good opportunities to sub there too). Overall as long as you find the right opportunity to sub this can usually 6-0.

Hope the changes help! and good luck!

Hey! Both AtraX Madara and Plunder gave great feedback and covered anything I would’ve said. The only thing I did want to throw out there just as an option is something I’ve suggested for another Fairy user who disliked Steel a lot:
:tapu Lele: -> :tapu Koko:
I totally agree with Plunder that Lele should be changed, whether it’s Hatterene or Koko is up to you. A Calm Mind Tapu Koko set with Stored Power can still be effective against Poison but now with Thunderbolt you have a better tool against Flying (and the Steel Flying types in general). This also means you can stick to Flamethrower on Clef for better coverage spread.
Tapu Koko @ Electric Seed
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Stored Power
- Calm Mind
Electric Seed gives you a bit of bulk on the physical on side when Tapu Koko is sent out; this also provides Stored Power an extra 20 BP. Thunderbolt and Dazzling Gleam are your STABs and Stored Power can help break Poison types. Behind Screens this can become a real monster.

Whether you use this set or not I felt like I should at least throw the option out there. Good luck with the team!
