Monotype Fairy Team

Team Twinkle
This is temporary. Hold on, sorry.

This team of fairies blossomed from a pokemon I've always wanted to use. I've played only about 50 battles with this, and am not sure if it is competitively viable, so here goes nothing. I apologize about the lack of pictures. It is also the start of my quest to create 1 team every two weeks for every type. The next team will be on 9/9.

I may or may not do this today. I'm in the middle of hurricane Harvey, so I could lose power to my house.

The core for this team was Whimsicott, as a combo-breaker

Whimsicott @ Focus Sash
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 190 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def / 62 Spe
Impish Nature
- Encore
- U-turn
- Tailwind
- Knock Off

Important Calcuations-
N/A- Just for setup.

Whimsicott is a great combo breaker, and the pokemon that inspired this team. Its move pool also includes leech seed, taunt, and memento. The 62 speed is to use knock off on pokemon that would otherwise outspeed it. My strategy is to lead with knock off, then encore if they used an entry hazard, otherwise use toxic. U-Turn if your sash activates.

Clefable @ Babiri Berry
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast

Clefable got its spot on the team from the ability to support. I recommend not using stealth-rocks unless you see tanks, or are willing to activate Whimsicott later in the match. Its IVs don't need explanation.

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Heal Bell
- Protect
- Wish

Important Calcuations
0 SpA Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Roserade:- 68.4% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Roserade Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Sylveon:- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Victini V-create vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sylveon:- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Sylveon is my special wall/cleric, and a set that I first heard about from a friend. There are better pokemon for both roles, but this pokemon combines them well. Bring this in only in the late game, or when you have a pokemon that you can't get by.

Azumarill @ Normalium Z
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off

This Azumarill does very well as a fast physical sweeper. If this was a double battle team, some sort of Symbiosis combo would do well, but sitrus berry is good enough.

Tapu Bulu @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
- Stone Edge

Important Calcuations-

Tapu Bulu was brought in for physical coverage, and as something that could last a long time without sacrificing priority.

Gardevoir-Mega @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Will-O-Wisp

Important Calcuations-
252+ SpA Gardevoir-Mega Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Durant:- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Hustle Durant Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gardevoir-Mega:- guaranteed OHKO

Finally, we have Mega Gardevoir, who works very well as a much needed special sweeper.

This team has many problems that I will be fixing in the future, such as switching slurpuff for azumarill, and cable's moveset. I will also update stats, and work to make the team even better for competitive gaming.

Problems-
Clefable can't last long enough, and stealth rock doesn't do well.
(XD read Vids post, I'm too lazy to put anything else down)

Threats to this team-
Choice Scarf Durant
Choice Scarf anything, really...
Bad predictions- Bad use of Whimsicott, or using a bad lead is a horrible idea.
Gengar- Where to begin? This thing swept me without any setup... I should've got the replay.
Mega freaking Scizor
Mega Charizard

Shoutouts-
Vid

Here is the whole team again in case anyone wants to import it.

The masters- http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen5ou-624265465

Thank you for bearing with me. This is my first public team, so I need all the help I can get. I hope you enjoy team twinkle, and all of my future teams as well! The next type will be poison, which is going through the testing phase. It should be like most other once except for a few things...

Hello Magikingdra, it was a great idea to post the team here because the team has many issues that can easily be fixed. I really like the idea of Mega Gardevoir Fairy especially the Will-O-Wisp set you are using, so for the rate I'll keep Mega Gardevoir since it is viable on Fairy just not as good as Mega Diancie, the premier Mega on Fairy teams.

Prankster Whimsicott was a decent niche option on ORAS Fairy, however in SM, Fairy has many more options. Klefki > Whimsicott With Light Clay Klefki along with Reflect and Light Screen it'll enable the team to take more hits allowing frail fast attackers to take multiple hits. It also has the great Steel / Fairy typing which means it is hit neutrally by Steel-type attacks and is immune to Poison-type attacks.. Klefki also has Prankster Thunder Wave which allows Klefki to cripple fast threats such as Choice Scarf Gengar and Mega Pinsir. For the last slot Spikes is a great option because with Spikes up it will be very easy to pressure certain physical and special walls leaving them susceptible to powerful hits. Alternatively Klefki can run Foul Play to take on Swords Dance Mega Scizor, but the utility of Spikes is generally better.

One major issue the team currently has is the lack of a Mega Scizor check. Babiri Berry > Leftovers With a Babiri Berry Scizor's STAB Bullet Punch will be significantly weakened allowing Clefable to use Fire-type attack to severely weaken Mega Scizor. EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD > EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD & Bold nature > Modest nature this change will bolster Clefable's physical bulk allowing it to take a +2 Bullet Punch from Mega Scizor with the help of the Babiri Berry. Fire Blast > Flamethrower Fire Blast has a 100% chance to KO offensive Mega Scizor at full HP while Flamethrower has a 30% chance KO offensive Mega Scizor. Stealth Rock > Ice Beam Ice Beam may provide coverage for Pokemon such as Landorus and Gliscor, but Stealth Rock allows the team to easily pressure Bug-, Fire-, Ice-, and Flying-types such as Volcarona, Kyurem-B, and Zapdos making it much easier to sweep late-game and forcing Defog and Rapid Spin. Proposed Change(s): Babiri Berry > Leftovers / EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD > EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / Bold nature > Modest nature / Fire Blast > Flamethrower / Stealth Rock > Ice Beam

The team has Mega Gardevoir which is an excellent Pixlate user, so Sylveon is kind of redundant as it doesn't add anything that Mega Gardevoir doesn't already add. Tapu Koko > Sylveon By replacing Sylveon with Tapu Koko the team in turn becomes a lot faster, as Tapu Koko has a blazing base 130 Speed stat. Tapu Koko is also a amazing pivot with U-turn and is a great stallbreaker with Taunt being able to shut down threats such as Zapdos and Mew. On top of this it has Electric surge which sets up Electric Terrain boosting its Electric-type attacks by 50% making up for its mediocre Special Attack stat. Tapu Koko also provides much needed Ice-type coverage that this team was missing with Hidden Power Ice. Tapu Koko remedies the issue the team had with fast Pokemon because of its blistering Speed stat along with Electric Surge making it a legitimate threat when using Electric-type attacks.

Slurpuff may seem like a decent Belly Drum user on paper because Belly Drum boosts Slurpuff's attack to unbelievable levels then it gets its Sitrus Berry, which activates Unburden making it extremely fast. However, outside of Normal matchup this is just not true as Slurpuff has sub par bulk even with Light Screen and Reflect up. Azumarill > Slurpuff Azumarill is a much better Belly Drum user as with Normalium Z, Azumarill can almost always safely Belly Drum under Reflect and Light Screen regardless on of how much HP it has because Z Belly Drum restores all of its HP then uses Belly Drum. It also has powerful priority in STAB Aqua Jet which allows it to easily sweep weakened teams late-game. Azumarill also has a better defensive typing along with a higher Attack with Huge Power which in turn makes it a better option as a Belly Drum sweeper.

Mawile on paper seems like a decent Pokemon with the great defensive typing of Steel / Fairy along with Sheer Force makes it seem like enticing option. However, in reality Mawile has atrocious bulk on top of being very slow which means in most matchups it can't even do anything because any STAB Fire- or Ground-type attack will OHKO it. Tapu Bulu > Mawile Choice Banded Tapu Bulu provides the immediate power that Mawile does, but unlike Mawile it has great physical bulk along with Grassy Surge setting up Grassy Terrain allowing it to recover a bit of its HP each turn. Tapu Bulu helps immensely in the Ground and Water matchups which the current version of the team struggles against. It also provides a form of pseudo recovery for Klefki and Clefable making up for the lack of Leftovers recovery.
Hopefully I helped make the team better. Good Luck with the team!
0 SpA Clefable Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Scizor-Mega: 248-296 (88.2 - 105.3%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO

Thank you Vid, I really like your changes! I will definitely update this, but I totally see your point with most of this. I will use your suggestions to see what works best. I definitely love the clefable, azumarill, and Bulu. I like where you are going with Koko, so I will try that, and agree pixilliate is redundant. The team does need a healer as well. Gardevoir has died quite quickly, so I will play around with it. Whimsicott is the core for this team, so the klefki might not be on the final team, but I will test all combinations. The thing I'm worried about is not enough specials. I totally forgot Mega Scizor, so that was a mistake on my part. Thanks again, you really overhauled this team, it's much more viable now!
