Fat Panda Commandos: A Bulky Offense Team

Introduction

I have tested this team and modified it a few times on Pokemon Online. My last team (not posted) was getting destroyed because it was too reliant on dual screens and fragile sweepers. This team aims to fix those weaknesses with a focus on bulky offense.

Gliscor

Snorlax

Metagross

Swampert

Tyranitar

Slowking

Glicscor@Yache Berry

Sand Veil

Careful Nature

252HP/252Def/4SpDf

Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Taunt
Roost

This bulky lead Gliscor is intended to set up Stealth Rock and Taunt the opponent to cheat them of their setup, be it SR or otherwise. Careful Nature was chosen to allow him to survive some special hits, and it seems to work. The Yache Berry has been useful in letting him get a form of revenge kill, wherein he KOs the opponent after their ice attack is weakened and he survives. He can recover health with Roost, but that hasn’t been serving him too well. I’m thinking of swapping Roost for Stone Edge coverage, because right now his main problem is lack of said coverage.

Snorlax@Leftovers

Thick Fat

Sassy Nature

252HP/4Def/252SpDf

Rest
Sleep Talk
Return
Curse

I’ve seen many Snorlax sets that advise Whirlwind over Curse on a ResTalker set, but Curse has worked fine for me so far. After 3 Curse boosts, he can Rest off the damage and have room to boost or attack, depending on the whim of Sleep Talk. He takes Special hits like a beast thanks to his terrific stats and Thick Fat. Sassy Nature was chosen to make him a super Special Wall.

Tyranitar@Choice Band

Sand Stream

Jolly Nature

252Atk/4SpDf/252Spe

Stone Edge
Fire Punch
Crunch
Pursuit

I love this guy. His Jolly Nature and Speed EVs allow him to outrun many seemingly threatening Pokemon, and the Choice Band gives him huge damage to many Pokes, too. Pursuit hits fleeing Pokemon for nice damage, and Crunch takes full advantage of that Dark-type STAB. Stone Edge gets huge hits and more STAB, while Fire Punch hits many others. Only problem is, Fighting types wall him completely. Ideas?

Metagross@Lum Berry

Clear Body

Adamant Nature

252HP/252Atk/4Spe

Agility
Zen Headbutt
ThunderPunch
Bullet Punch/Meteor Mash

Metagross was chosen for this team because of his moveset. This moveset fills three gaping offensive holes: Psychic, Electric, and Steel. My previous team was walled and destroyed by Fighting type Pokemon, so Zen Headbutt prevents that. ThunderPunch is my only super effective hit on pure Waters, and Bullet Punch has saved many a fight from despair. It may seem strange to run priority on an Agiligross, but all too often he has no chance to set up, and Bullet Punch saves him in such situations. He also carries a useful resistance to Ice, so Gliscor can be switched out without worry.

Swampert@Rindo Berry

Torrent

Relaxed Nature

252HP/4Atk/252Def

Earthquake
Ice Beam
Waterfall
Roar

This Swampert was modified from an SR ‘pert from my last team. He takes physical hits really well, and since he doesn’t need SR, Waterfall provides him with more awesome STAB. Ice Beam hits Gliscor and surprises those who like to burn Swampert. I kept Roar on him because it is still useful to shuffle the opponents’ team. The Rindo Berry (originally chosen to avoid breaking Item Clause), has saved him in many battles already.

Slowking@Shell Bell

Own Tempo

Modest

252HP/4Def/252SpA

Nasty Plot
Surf
Ice Beam
Slack Off

This guy fills many holes in my team: a severe lack of Special bulk, (lack of) a good Special attacker, (“) a resistance to Fighting types, etc. I love him so much. Nasty Plot and Slack Off pair up to let him get fully boosted Special Attack, and Ice Beam and Surf are solid attack options. His excellent typing and solid stats make him all the more useful. Modest Nature was chosen to maximize attacking power, and the Shell Bell heals him nicely with a few boosted attacks.

Conclusion

This team has everything my previous team did not, including a pair of Special walls, a solid Special attacker, and more bulk all around. I realized at some point that I needed a bulkier team in general, and that philosophy led to this team, which has won me many battles so far. Aside from moveset issues, the only problems are few and far between. Breloom shreds this entire team after a Swords Dance, and Grass types in general are more trouble than they are worth. Overall, though, this team has made me very happy.

So...Swampert's sole purpose is to shuffle and wall, right? I think Stealth Rock should go on Swampert anyway if only for the utility purpose; Swampert just seems like a waste of a team slot otherwise. You can then use Gliscor as a full-on stallbreaker as your team has troubles breaking through the likes of heavy stall.

Other than that, the team looks more-or-less okay. Good to see Tyranitar being used to guarantee no ghosts on the field, but then you still have no way to take on Steels and Rocks. Slowking can remedy that to some extent, but he isn't the bulkiest. Good luck!
