Margot & the Nuclear So and So's - The Dust of Retreat

This was a surprising album for me on my first listen through. It's still one of my favorites, and I don't think I'll see it anywhere else in this thread, so I decided to contribute this album. I'll admit that at first, the very first song didn't have me too hooked but I was still curious, but the more I listened, the more I loved the whole album. The entire album is incredibly depressing, but it's comforting too. It doesn't really make me feel sad, it leaves me feeling safe.

lol I didn't delete it, apparently it's considered serious trolling to say a topic that's been done billions of times around the internet and just namedrops popular bands might be sort of bland. I mean there aren't even comments on the albums or whatever it's just list l;ist list you could get that on lastfm.

But to fit with the topic here's what I've been listening a lot to lately I guess

Black Sheep - Wolf In Sheeps Clothing
dudes never got the recognition of other Native Tongues groups, which is sad because this is fantastic- quirky sense of humour and blarg blarg if you've heard Quest or Jungle Brothers you know how it goes

The Clash - London Calling
umm duh everyone should know this

Navio Forge - As We Quietly Burn A Hole Into...
I like to listen to this band when I'm down they really leave you feeling pumped up and good about life =) heh. Seriously though this is some of the best material from th second wave it's worth a look if you don't know emo (as in the late 80's style of punk)

Ed Rush & Optical - Wormholes
JUMPDAFUCKUP

Esoteric - The Pernicious Enigma
ok if you get one thing from this thread make it this band, they have their albums FREE for download on their website (http://www.esotericuk.net/discography.html). I just have their CDs but I'm sure the downloads work fine. Anyway I can't overstate how fucking amazing this band is or how great it is that they made their music free seriously if you are reading this you have no excuse not to check it out. Try "The Blood Of The Eyes" from Subconscious... to start with if that doesn't get you hooked you're past help.

oh man thats hard

if i had to pick one probably deadwing or in absentia maybe? i cant pick between them (I AM INDECISIVE) but theyre both a cut above

as far as the songs themselves go i probably have more favorites on deadwing but in absentia is more cohesive/consistent as an album and it has .3 which is very possibly my favorite song ever

ive been on a new music hunt but both of those consistently top my current faves that im sure its one of those two thatll end up as my all time favorite when i come to a conclusion in however many years i live

but as far as whats my current favorite stuff is someone showed me the pillows a few days ago and theyre really pretty great though i dunno if i can single out an album yet because ive just kinda been sporadically listening to them and havent given all the albums a good sit down yet

also obligatory mention of in an aeroplane over the sea because its in an aeroplane over the sea

Man this isn't fair, there are some good albums I like, and you guys all have listed some great stuff. I mean, I really like this albums relaxing electronic beats, and the first song "Four Corners" just happens to be my favorite song ever for about two years now. And it ends with a cover of "Sound and Vision". In between is some great pop.

It has been my mainstay for awhile. Shuffling through some more though, I don't know I might have one more.

It has one good song x)

I would guess your refering to the greatest song written of all time track 5 Fleeting Mind :P. Seen OCS 5 times now love em, they just released a new DVD if your interested :P

Glad to see you put Masterplan up there! The B-sides have always eclipsed the released, they are amazing.

----

Anyways, time to post a proper list:

1. Moseley Shoals by Ocean Colour Scene
2. Urban Hymns by The Verve
3. The Masterplan by Oasis
4. Kid A by Radiohead
5. The Back Room by The Editors (NOTE: better than Joy Division and Interpol *expects a barage of e-abuse*))
6. Marching Already by Ocean Colour Scene

The list continues for a long while with OCS, then other stuff comes in with Paul Weller, Travis, Bluetones etc. all making appearances. Very hard to order though, might edit in a more complete list when I decide!

though i havent listened to enough of the pillows to make a definitive call, this album definitely caught me by the ear and i suggest that everyone give it a listen
