Favorite Holiday Meals and Recipes

Hello, folks! It's Turkey Day in the states today and the holidays seem to be just around the corner for everyone.

What's your favorite meal that you like to make or eat during the holidays? Do you have any special recipes that you would like to share?

I could really go for some mashed sweet potato or string bean casserole right now.

Every time around the holidays my mom makes batches of 'lace cookies." Really, really thin oatmeal(?) cookies. I don't really know how they're made but they're like crack.

Here's a recipe that looks correct. My mom doesn't use the almonds anymore because my brother is allergic, but I think they taste fine without it. They look more appetizing in person tbqh.

Baked brown sugar is just good. I recommend trying baked 'candied' bacon for yourself if you ever have the opportunity and enjoy sweet and savory things. This recipe also looks like it could be easily modified into a gluten-free version, which is a big plus for me. (Trust me, I get food allergies.) Thanks!

for thanksgiving I always make a paula deen's pumpkin cheese cake found on fn website, but i make a ginger snap crust w browned butter to make it extra good, always use salted butter on ur crust.

my family is v weird as one might imagine from reading my postings, so our family recipe is ginger-macadamia pie served w chocolate sauce. idk have the recipe is but it's probably like this https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/macadamia-nut-pie/ only w finely minced candied ginger in the filling and a homemade crust.

Although I am not an American and therefore I do not celebrate "Thanksgiving", I have an American friend who was kind enough to invite me to share the celebrations at home. I found the meal quite pleasant, although frankly excessive ! I was asked to provide the dessert and brought a pie that my mother cooked for me and which went very well. I shall have to ask her for the recipe !

Awesome! I'm a huge fan of pies. There was some sort of strawberry pie our local Publix had when I was in college that was entirely pink, tart, and delicious. Unfortunately I probably can't eat it now, but I'd like to try some more pies.

I only enjoy the holiday because I like eating. A fair amount. Are you visiting?
