Favorite Sports

Being Canadian, there is no doubt in my mind that hockey is the sport I have the largest infatuation with. Especially here in Edmonton where just about every Oilers home game gets sold out. If we make the playoffs, our downtown area tends to get fucked up pretty badly whenever we win, but hey... that's being a hardcore fan for you.

Soccer is another of my favorite sports to watch, getting Ukrainian premier league games by sattelite is a blast since the players are very skilled. English premier is very exciting as well; go Liverpool.

Football and American Football are probably about tied. Hockey comes after those (Buffalo is a pretty big hockey city). However, I'm really not too big a fan of watching sports or anything, I'm more into music now than I was before so I don't really do much in my free time besides play it.

Still, go Bills/Sabres (lol Bills)

Running

I ran my first marathon in October and I ran a 2:51:56 (6:33 pace). Pretty good for a first timer I guess. I'd like to go sub-2:45 in my next one, we'll see how it goes.

Obligatory Quiz Bowl (lol) mention. I was more successful in Quiz Bowl than I was in running. The 3 years I was on Varsity were the 3 years my team made it to state. I graduated last year and they're not going to be going this year. Not to brag or anything...

American Football is my sport. I'm only 130 lbs., but I'm the starting Varsity Defensive Tackle two years running (Sophomore and Junior years).

Snowboarding and climbing, neither of which I've done for years. I'm pretty unfit now (smokers' lungs).

edit: oh, to watch as well? rugby, football <3

I'd have to say Baseball and Basketball, I love the professional sports and play them myself. I don't really follow NHL or any soccer leagues, but I like to play Hockey and Soccer.

Basketball. I also like playing soccer, but for some reason I don't like to watch soccer games a lot (except the World Cup games).

i am a huge sports fan. my favorite to watch are basketball, football (both pro and college) and then occasionally tennis, baseball, golf and hockey. I used to play baseball as a kid and in high school, I mostly play basketball, flag football, pickleball and occasionally golf now.

To play, Indoor Soccer is the way to go. I love it. Haven't tried Tennis, but I think I'd enjoy it.

To watch, I don't really enjoy giving anything my full attention, but if I'm doing something else (such as Pokemon) then I'll watch anything not named Basketball.

Being Canadian, I have no love for Hockey. Ugh and I hope fighting stays just so that they can kill a few more people and eventually realize they don't know what their doing.

Anyway, I like skiing. Oh, and Badminton.

My favorite sport is Basketball (I feel weird as a Mexican saying that to play even though I am pretty terrible I could get better if I try but it's not my interest to do it as a career.) I am not really a sports person, listening to music is my thing.

Baseball has been my passion since I was a little boy; back when a pack of baseball cards was a $1 and had 20 cards in each one, lol! After baseball, then it would have to be American Football, college football, and college basketball.

Baseball happens to be my favorite sport to play and watch. Hockey is probably my second favorite to watch.

Yes because so far 0 NHL player died as the result of a fight in its near 100 year old history. There has been a couple of incidents related to serious injuries however both in the NHL and smaller leagues. Totally acceptable to be against fights in hockey.

Skiing has a much bigger death toll.

edit : oh and my favorite sports are MMA and hockey of course!

Though there was that one girl killed at a columbus/calgary game because of a deflected puck, Vineon. How many sports can boast a kill count of 1 14 year old spectator?

and thats why there are now nets behind the..... goal nets

!

Sadly, it usually takes a big incident for rules to change.... I still think players should be forced to wear both neck protection and a full cage visor. Fights should be disallowed, even though I find them highly entertaining.

Strict goons, like Boogard and Laraque should be disallowed, because their sole purpose seems to be just going in and intimidating/fighting.

If someone like Jarome Iginla gets pissed off and it comes to fisticuffs, then so be it in my opinion, but it shouldn't be something the coach plans just to goon someone.

Soccer and tennis to play.
I will watch anything. I'm a Yankees fan but a-rod is a piece of shit. I've been saying for years he took steroids so I guess I'm right.

Fighting does cause injuries, which range from fractures of the hands and face to lacerations and eye injuries. At present, it is an endemic and ritualized blot on the reputation of the North American game.

is my point. Though my origional post was somewhat obnoxious, the commercialisation of literal violence in Hockey is not one of its selling points.

And by the way I was talking about this;

TORONTO — An Ontario hockey player who struck his head on the ice and slipped into a coma three weeks ago, died early Friday morning, his team's website has reported.

Don Sanderson, a 21-year-old defenceman with the Whitby Dunlops, had been in a coma since Dec. 12, following a fight in the third period of a Major League Hockey game against the Brampton Blast. He died around 1 a.m. on Friday

His death was a result of a fight he was in. And obviously that's an accident that can't really be built upon, but my point is that everyone could see that coming.

Football (Soccer) and Table Tennis are my favourites to play and watch, along with running if you can really class that as a sport. I also enjoy watching Rugby League here in England, but I don't often get to watch that as much as it's usually on, on Friday nights, which is a bit of a problem.

Badminton is also really fun to play, but I haven't played that since High School.
