A quick glance
Introduction
So after months of copying other people's hard work and using it like it was my own, I finally decided to try my creativity and started building a team. I thought of using hyper-offense as it was my favorite style of playing. This team is a result of a lot of trial and errors and I hope that you will be able to help me out.
Team in detail
Salamence @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate ---> Aerilate
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Jolly Nature
-Dragon Dance
-Frustration
-Facade
-Earthquake
This set is quite standard. Why I chose Facade over Refresh was as Salamence gets statused often and I don't want to waste a turn using Refresh. Earthquake for killing those who resist Frustration. I chose Mega Salamence as it was one of the best sweepers in the game and is great at absorbing physical attacks. However, do make note of opposing Xerneas and more importantly, the granddaddy of all great walls, Lugia.
Groudon @ Red Orb
Ability: Drought ---> Desolate Land
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature
-Fire Punch
-Precipice Blades
-Stone Edge
-Iron Tail Stealth Rocks
I decided to use a bulky-ish Primal Groudon to check opponents that have already set up, such as an Extremekiller Arceus with a SD Boost under its belt, which would otherwise destroy my team. Fire Punch is used as I don't want a mixed set, Stone Edge is to deal some damage against flying types such as Yvetal, Ho-oh and Slamence andIron Tail is to deal with those pesky fairies.Stealth Rocks is to set-up hazards so that opponents will take damage.
Arceus @Choice Band Life Orb
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 Atk/ 248 Spe / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature
-ExtremeSpeed
-Earthquake
-Shadow Claw
-Swords Dance
Arceus for a fast killer and an overall monster that is able to clean up teams. I decided to use it after seeing myself get sweeped a few times with my original team by this monster, which is extremely dangerous when set-up. Thus, I decided to abuse its power.
Deoxys-Attack @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 188 Spe / 68 Spa
Lonely/Mild Nature
-Psycho Boost
-Knock Off
-ExtremeSpeed
-Superpower Low Kick
This is a standard Deoxys-Attack set. I wanted something that is not only fast, but gives the opponent pressure (pun not intended) and could knock out even the bulkiest opponents without much effort. Thus, I decided to use Deoxys-attack after remembering its sky-high attacking stats and its top-tier speed.
Darkrai @ Life Orb
Ability: Bad Dreams
EVs: 252 Spa / 252 Spe/ 4 Spd
Timid Nature
-Dark Pulse
-Sludge Bomb
-Nasty Plot
-Dark Void
I thought that I would, of course, not be able to cover every weakness with just 6 Pokemon. It was then that I thought of Darkrai. It can put threats to sleep and could deal major damage to Lugia, so why shouldn't I use it? After trying Darkrai's BW set, I observed that Xerneas and other faireies would come in, especially after I've put something to sleep, and try to get a free set-up turn. So instead of Focus Blast, I changed it to Sludge Bomb to counter those fairy types, although sometimes, there are opponents which are resistant to both of its attacking moves, but those usually aren't that threatening to the team.
Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Download
EVs: 252 Spa / 252 Spe / 4 Atk
Mild Nature
-U-Turn
-Ice Beam
-Flash Cannon
-Flamethrower/ Explosion
At that point in time, I realised I need a FAST revenge-killer and Xerneas check. I chose Genesect due to it being able to gain momentum and being a great attacker. I originally used the physical scarf set, but found the physical movepool of Genesect a bit limiting. So I made a set based on the used-to-be popular BW Life Orb special set.
Threatlist
Lugia
This is the single most annoying Pokemon in the entire tier, stopping sweeps left and right. The best bet is Darkrai to put it to sleep or Dark Pulse to kill off if weakened. Otherwise, Genesect's Ice Beam.
Xerneas
This is the single reason why there is Genesect on the team. If Deoxys is in, Knock Off and then Psycho Boost to KO. If not, Genesect to Flash Cannon and if its not dead, Extremespeed with either Arceus or Deoxys.
Ho-Oh
Keep in either Groudon or Salamence. Deoxys if there is no other things that need to be instant-killed. If you send in Salamence, pray it doesn't burn and DD, pray again it doesn't burn and then Frustration. Groudon 2HKO with SE.
Sticky-Webs
Remind myself to add in a defogger. Send in Genesect to kill off Gavantulas. If sticky-webs is set up, the only viable stuff left are Groudon in away, Salamence and possibly the ExtremeSpeed users to spam ExtremeSpeed.
Mewtwo-Y
No problem with X. Salamence has no problem. If Y outspeeds Deoxys, you're in deep shit. Dark Void immediately, if possible.
Opposing Deoxys-Atk
If it is faster than our Deoxys, pray that Groudon isn't KOed and then revenge kill with Arceus
Klefki
This never fails to put up hazards. Kill off with Genesect. Could use a defogger or something.
Ditto
Those things, if well played, can sweep the entire team with ease.(Eg. Salamence mid-sweep)
Salamence
These things are quite annoying. Once you see one, if you are not sure if the pokemon currently in can kill it, it is best to send out a non-physical team member and try to knock it out.
Arceus
These things are troublesome if they set-up. Best bet is Groudon. Tank the hit and hit back with Precipice Blades, though beware of EQ.
