Female Combees: Good trade bait?

I was watching a video on YouTube with this man talking about Combees. He said that although they aren't that rare, he suggests that they're "a large unit of currency" that you can trade for almost anything that isn't overly valuable on the GTS. In the video, he caught a female Combee and offered it for a Shelgon which he got in a little over an hour. He suggests that the reason you can get anything for female Combees is because male Combees are common and useless. If you want to understand that, watch these videos:

In Pearl, I have a Vespiquen and hatched two other female Combees less than a half an hour ago. Basically, Vespiquen isn't too good except maybe for UU/NU, but the Combees aren't the most common thing in the world. So, would I be able to trade a female Combee for something really nice?

Male Combees are only good for getting honey, and in turn getting Heracross/Aipom. Female Combees are excellent trade bait. Try doing it with, say... Garchomp.
 
Opened up the first link, saw the fat neckbeard in a robe and ran like a bat out of Hell.

But yeah, female Combee are great trade bait for people who don't realize you can reset your game until you get the gender you want from a honey tree Pokemon.
 
I think it's the way Jibaku got his competitive shinies

A suggestion would to be to mass clone Female ones, and throw them into the GTS one by one.
 
I always use Feebas for GTS bait and it has yet to fail to get me what I want. Female Combee are also decent as well as Spiritomb. Or you could just clone a Palkia or Dialga and get absolutely anything you want =P
 
Shinies are really good for the GTS, but you should evolve them shouldn't you first

I have an army of Shiny Salamence in my Emerald. Emerald is like a Kamino for me, and I'm always importing more and more, so I usually get WHATEVER I want in usually about 5 minutes.
 
In between breeding sessions and EV training, I always slap some honey on every single honey tree in Sinnoh to get some Combees for whatever reason, mainly for the GTS(I don't know how to clone in D/P without a cheating device).
To say female Combee are Wi-Fi Gold is an understatement. Female Combee are the sole reason why the GTS is running so well.
Basically, anything that is difficult to obtain or capture, or hard to find, is in high demand. Luckily, you cloners out there shouldn't have a problem keeping up with that. :P
 
Female Combees are the sole reason that its runs well? Why? Vespiquen isn't even that good, its just another poke for the pokedex.
 
How are shinies found so commonly?

I usually just offer up a Jirachi/Deoxys. Never really thought about anything else. I really guess I should've kept the 50+ Feebas I bred for my Milotic, then.

Well, people don't flock to the GTS for Combee so they can liekomgpwnn00bs in Wi-Fi battles with Vespiqueen. You answered your own question; it's something else to add to the Pok'edex, albeit a very hard to find one(that is, for the idiots who don't know what soft-resetting is.

Maybe Combee aren't the only reason; Feebas, legendaries, shinies, and the like are all contributors.
 
I've found that stuff like event Pokémon aren't the best things to offer since the people who have access to them, and consequently able to search for them, are fairly limited compared to Feebas, Combee and fellas. I've tried to put up Phione and Jirachi but haven't had much success.

uhh..no.

I don't even have a Female Combee. I had tons of Celebis, Lv.100 Dialgas/Palkias, Jirachis and Deoxys at that time and I used them as trade baits/dolls. Except at the time where I was going to get a Shiny Latias, in which I only have a Lv.100 Shiny Palkia to trade to the guy with it since I don't have any regular ones, but that Shiny Palkia was hacked anyway so I didn't mind giving it away. Not that the latias was THAT much better (Lv.100, Naive), but it has Perfect IVs that are completely ruined by its EV ditribution. As for the rest, I just happened to see them and snagged them ASAP.

Before the English version came out, the Deoxys and Lugia section are usually swarmed with Shinies. Mew is sometimes too. That's how I got Lugia (Timid) and Deoxys (Timid).

With the pokeradar trick, it's fairly easy to get a bunch of shinies for trade.

It's really not that easy. I've never ben able to get a Shiny by this and the first shiny I ever ran into my game (Shinx) is when I looked around for a Bidoof which I owed SePh258 for lols
 
News flash, rare things are in higher demand than non-rare things.

...okay, maybe that was a bit harsh. :P But yeah, I think I've heard those sorts of rare normal Pokemon go well on GTS.

...though I don't think I've ever made a GTS offer that wasn't accepted.

Also, I'm going to read those pokeradar trick rules (thanks a lot), but in my experience it sure isn't easy since my chain always breaks at like 10 Pokemon. Hopefully there's something I've missed. : /
 
Meh, Feebas are easier for trade bait. I can just hatch like 50 and whenever I need something I don't have (like a Hippopotas which I'm too lazy to get) I can just put up a Feebas. Plus, they can be either gender, unlike a Female Combee which I only have a 12.5% chance of getting when I hatch one. I'd rather take a 100% chance of getting what I want.

You can really compare the rare female combee to the rare female (insert low female percentage pokemon here)

My bro got some decent things for female Eevees.

Did I say we needed to have Brad Pitt make a video about combees? No.

I don't think it's unreasonable that someone put some clothes on and pull the camera out of their crotch when the're making a tutorial.

on topic: any "rare" pokemon will get you want you want. Gibles, starters, eevees the like.
