[OVERVIEW]
Ferroseed boasts itself as a very adept entry hazard setter thanks to its great bulk, Eviolite, and an amazing defensive typing that allows it to resist common Grass-, Fairy-, Electric-, and Water-type moves from Pokemon such as Whimsicott, Diancie, non-Focus Blast Heliolisk, and Samurott. Thanks to its defensive typing, Ferroseed finds many opportunities to set up entry hazards such as Stealth Rock and Spikes. Aside from entry hazard setting moves, Ferroseed has access to a great utility movepool consisting of Leech Seed, Gyro Ball, and Protect, which perform different roles such as stalling out foes and dealing adequate damage. However, Ferroseed's defensive typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire- and Fighting-type Pokemon such as Incineroar and Hariyama as well as coverage moves from Slowbro and Silvally-Steel. Ferroseed's lackluster offensive capabilities makes it setup bait to setup sweepers such as Braviary and Klinklang, especially if they have Substitute to protect themselves from Ferroseed's utility moves and Gyro Ball.

Moves
========
Spikes deals residual damage to opposing Pokemon, especially if stacked the maximum amount of times. Access to Spikes also allows Ferroseed's team to have a Stealth Rock setter to further increase residual damage. Stealth Rock is Ferroseed's alternative entry hazard move, damaging opposing Pokemon on the switch and weakening key threats such as Incineroar, Vanilluxe, and Braviary, although without running Spikes, more entry hazards cannot be stacked. Leech Seed is Ferroseed's only means of recovery, allowing it to gain health back while simultaneously sapping the foe's HP. Gyro Ball is Ferroseed's primary STAB attack and works well with its sluggish Speed stat, as it increases damage output and prevents it from becoming setup fodder to most Pokemon. Protect allows Ferroseed to stall out foes with Leech Seed and scout opposing coverage moves and Choice-locked Pokemon. Knock Off can be used over Gyro Ball to remove opposing Pokemon's items and make them less efficient at their role, although it does less damage overall and makes it easier for opposing setup sweepers to use Ferroseed as setup bait. Thunder Wave allows Ferroseed to spread status and cripple fast Pokemon so they can be eliminated with less difficulty later in the game by Ferroseed's teammates.
Set Details
========
Maximum HP and Defense investment in conjunction with Eviolite and a Relaxed nature maximize Ferroseed's bulk, allowing it to take hits more comfortably. 0 IVs and a Relaxed nature are required for Ferroseed to become as slow as possible and maximize Gyro Ball's damage output. Iron Barbs allows Ferroseed to punish opposing Pokemon using contact moves by dealing chip damage to them.
Usage Tips
========
Ferroseed should generally switch into Pokemon it walls such as Slowbro, Whimsicott, and non-Focus Blast Heliolisk to force them out and utilize the opportunity to set up entry hazards, paralyze its switch-ins, or use Leech Seed. Leech Seed should be used when Ferroseed is in need of healing or to stall physical attackers with Iron Barbs and Protect. Protect should be used to scout opposing coverage moves from the likes of Diancie and Heliolisk that otherwise pose a problem to Ferroseed. When facing a Pokemon that utilizes a Choice item, use Protect to see what move has been used. This allows Ferroseed and its teammates to make more accurate decisions accordingly; furthermore, it can take advantage of High Jump Kick users such as Medicham. If Ferroseed runs Thunder Wave, use it to cripple fast switch-ins such as Houndoom and Passimian, as this hinders their offensive capabilities and allows Ferroseed's teammates to take care of them. Ferroseed can use its defensive typing to assist its teammates, especially setup sweepers, by switching into Toxic; however, it should be extremely cautious of potential coverage moves. Knock Off is a big problem for Ferroseed and should be avoided at all costs, as the bulk provided by Eviolite is important for it to maintain its overall bulk and ability to switch in comfortably against Pokemon like Vanilluxe. Lastly, Ferroseed should generally stay away from Xatu, as it can bounce back most of Ferroseed's moves such as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Leech Seed while also threatening it with Night Shade.
Team Options
========
Pokemon such as Rhydon and Dragon Dance Scrafty appreciate Ferroseed's ability to set up entry hazards, switch into Toxic, spread paralysis, and deal additional chip damage, as it allows them to perform their offensive roles with less hindrances. Fire-types such as Incineroar and Houndoom are very troublesome to Ferroseed due to their 4x super effective STAB moves. Water- and Rock-types such as Vaporeon and Rhydon are useful to check the aforementioned Fire-types and have good defensive synergy with Ferroseed. Fighting-type Pokemon are threatening to Ferroseed, as they can deal super effective damage; therefore, Psychic-type Pokemon such as Slowbro and Uxie make for good teammates thanks to their ability to handle Fighting-types. Uxie deserves a special mention, as it can set up Stealth Rock and allows Ferroseed to run Spikes. Pokemon such as Sneasel and Mismagius can take care of the troublesome Xatu and a significant number of other entry hazard removers. Mismagius in particular is exceedingly helpful by being able to spinblock, use Taunt to render Defog unusable, and cripple opposing Fighting-types with Will-O-Wisp.

Other Options
=============
Ferroseed's main movepool is very important, as it allows Ferroseed to perform its role to the fullest extent, which usually doesn't allow it to run many alternative moves. Bullet Seed can be used as a less common alternative to Gyro Ball, as it has a STAB bonus and does significant damage to Pokemon such as Samurott while also breaking Sturdy and Focus Sash. However, this leaves Ferroseed's low Speed stat unused and Bullet Seed is generally outclassed as an offensive move by Gyro Ball due to it being able to hit more significant targets; Bullet Seed allows foes to switch into Ferroseed with less difficulty and possibly set up on it. A specially defensive EV spread allows Ferroseed to switch into Fairy-types more comfortably, most of which are special attackers, as well as other special attackers such as Heliolisk that use moves Ferroseed resists. However, this leaves Ferroseed vulnerable to more of its common checks, which are physical attackers.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Fire-types**: Powerful Fire-types such as Incineroar and Houndoom can easily OHKO Ferroseed due to its 4x weakness to Fire and resist a Gyro Ball. However, these Fire-types may be troubled if Ferroseed uses Thunder Wave or Knock Off on the switch, as they do not appreciate being paralyzed or having their item removed. Leech Seed can be a hassle if hit on the switch, as Ferroseed can use Protect and Iron Barbs to wear down physical Fire-types so Ferroseed's teammates can take them out later.
**Xatu**: Xatu doesn't mind any of Ferroseed's moves bar Knock Off thanks to Magic Bounce, which bounces back entry hazards and Thunder Wave. If Ferroseed doesn't switch out, Xatu can Roost stall it and 3HKO it with Night Shade.
**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types are good checks to Ferroseed due to their powerful STAB attacks; however, they should be wary of Knock Off and Thunder Wave. Fighting-types that can check Ferroseed include Medicham and Passimian, although the former needs to be careful into being Choice locked, as if Ferroseed uses Protect, Medicham will take crash damage from High Jump Kick.
**Substitute Sweepers**: Pokemon brought in safely by pivoting into Ferroseed and setting up Substitute are not affected by Thunder Wave or Leech Seed and can use Ferroseed as setup fodder if Gyro Ball does not break their Substitute. These Substitute sweepers include Klinklang and Braviary.
**Taunt**: Since Ferroseed uses three status moves in its moveset, it is highly susceptible to Taunt unless it uses Protect in time. Faster Taunt users that resist Steel-type moves or are defensive such as Jellicent and Golbat can tank Ferroseed's Gyro Ball and force Ferroseed to switch, as it is unable to set up entry hazards.
