Leech Seed is a reliable way of whittling down foes like Crustle, Aegislash, and Magnezone. Gyro Ball is Ferrothorn's Steel-type STAB attack of choice, utilizing its poor Speed tier to deal with Pokemon such as Porygon-Z and Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan. Power Whip is crucial for Water- and Ground-types like Choice Band Urshifu-R, Dracovish, and Choice Band Diggersby. Protect is for stalling out Leech Seed turns for Pokemon like Choice Specs Magnezone, Aegislash, and Avalugg. Swords Dance is an alternative option to have a better chance of beating Slowbro. Knock Off can be run to guarantee the matchup against Substitute Dragapult. Chople Berry allows Ferrothorn to survive attacks against from strong Fighting-types like Choice Band Urshifu-R and Sawk. An Occa Berry paired with the given spread allows Ferrothorn to reliably beat Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan and Choice Scarf Togekiss.

Generally, Ferrothorn struggles against Taunt users like Skarmory, Mandibuzz, and Kommo-o. Therefore, wallbreakers like Nasty Plot Porygon-Z, Galarian Darmanitan, and Primarina pair well with Ferrothorn. Primarina especially is an excellent partner, as it covers Ferrothorn's 4x weakness to Fire from the likes of Arcanine, Goodra, Alolan Marowak, and Volcarona. In return, Ferrothorn can handle Electric-types like Zeraora, Choice-item Rotom-W, and Choice Specs Magnezone. Fire-types like Arcanine, Alolan Marowak, and Rotom-H are also worth noting, as they help deal with opposing Grass-types like Rillaboom and Celebi. In return, Ferrothorn provides good synergy for them, as it is adept at handling Water-types like Primarina, Dracovish, and non-Sap Sipper Azumarill.

Protect is a good option for stalling out Leech Seed turns for Pokemon like Choice Specs Magnezone, Aegislash and Avalugg. Swords Dance is an alternative option to have a better chance of beating Slowbro. Knock Off can be run to guarantee the matchup against Substitute Dragapult. Occa Berry, when optimized with the following EVs, alongside the given EV investment lets Ferrothorn reliably beat Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan and Choice Scarf Togekiss. (We don't OHKO Choice Specs.) Furthermore, this investment also allows Ferrothorn to survive a Close Combat from Unnerve Choice Band Haxorus. (This is true, but their chances of surviving Gyro Ball after Iron Barbs and -1 is much higher than your chances to KO back.) Chople Berry is an alternative item that allows Ferrothorn to survive attacks against strong Fighting-types like Urshifu-R and Sawk. (Spread seems like it has some room for improvement or optimization; I'll bring this up with QC and let you know what we come up with.)

Fire-types like Arcanine, Marowak-A, and Volcarona Rotom-H (better example) are also worth noting as they help deal with opposing Grass-types like Rillaboom and Celebi. In return, Ferrothorn provides good synergy for them as it is adept at handling Water-types like Primarina, Dracovish and non-Sap Sipper Azumarill.

Power Whip is crucial for Water- and Ground-types like Urshifu-Ryou are either going to get screwed by single strike or body press rapid so if you want to keep this that's fine but I'd prefer smth else, Dracovish, and Choice Scarf Band Diggersby. Protect is for stalling out Leech Seed turns for Pokemon like Choice Specs Magnezone, Aegislash and Avalugg. Swords Dance is an alternative option to have a better chance of beating Slowbro.
