  • Good defensive Typing (Can switch into Rock and Dark type attacks with ease)

Set Description:

  • Counters Dark Types very well
  • Its weakness's are rare. Flying is only commonly seen by Ho-Oh, Psychic only by Mewtwo
  • Judgment is the main attack, offers a strong, Fighting STAB
  • Dark Pulse hits stuff that resists Fighting, like Mewtwo, Lati@s, Ghost Arceus and Wobbuffet
  • Ice Beam hits Giratina, Zekrom Lugia harder, and OHKOes Rayquaza, Salamence, Garchomp, and Shaymin-S
Additional Comments:
  • Set-up Pokemon like Forretress and Skarmory don't have to worry about giving Darkrai a free switch-in opportunity
  • Skarmory helps additionally since it wins against Shaymin-S, barring Leech Seed or a ridiculous number of flinches
  • Stealth Rock is helpful for Ho-Oh who counters Fighting Arceus otherwise. Entry hazards in general greatly help.
Teammates & Counters:
  • Wobbuffet can give Arceus a free set up opportunity with Encore
  • Pokemon that set up Entry Hazards help give Fighting Arceus an easier time sweeping
  • Dark Types such as Darkrai and Tyranitar can switch into Psychic type attacks
  • Mewtwo Has STAB Psycho Break which OHKOs
  • Ho-Oh doesn't take much from Ice Beam or Judgment and OHKOes with Brave Bird
  • Shaymin-S is not OHKOed unless Arceus has Ice Beam, and can Leech Seed or flinch it to death with Air Slash

Set Description:

  • Recover allows it to take hits from other leads (such as Draco Meteor Dialga and Rayquaza) and recover off health. Also increases longevity.

  • A Swords Dance set can be used but is outclassed by Swords Dance Ghost for the most part
  • Roar can rack up hazard damage on Fighting Arceus's checks
  • Will-O-Wisp helps against Swords Dancing Arceus's
  • Reflect and Light Screen help the team in general
[Counters]

  • Ho-Oh doesn't take much from Ice Beam or Judgment and OHKOes with Brave Bird
  • Lati@s will generally win a Calm Mind war against Arceus
  • Wobbuffet doesn't take much from Dark Pulse and is not OHKOed by a +6 Ice Beam, so it can turn Arceus into set-up fodder
  • Shaymin-S is not OHKOed unless Arceus has Ice Beam, and can Leech Seed or flinch it to death with Air Slash
  • Ghost Arceus can set up on those without Dark Pulse, and Mewtwo and Mew to a lesser extent
  • Lugia doesn't take too much from Dark Pulse or Ice Beam and can Toxic Arceus or Whirlwind it out; Deoxys-D completely beats sets that don't have Dark Pulse
[Dream World]

  • No dream world ability for Arceus.

One of the best Leads in the game, the improved Magic Coat basically lets it get pseudo Stealth Rock and Spikes, while stopping the opponent's, which is an awesome thing for teams with lead Deoxys problems, or just layers in general.
STAB Judgment from Max SpA is insanely powerful, basically 2HKOing everything that doesnt resist it, and even some stuff that does. Dark Pulse completes coverage by hitting the Ghosts that resist Judgment.

Last spot is merely for preference, Recover lets Arceus stay on the game way longer, even walling the likes of Salamence by Recovering after a Draco Meteor, stalling it perfectly. Will-O-Wisp is just a support move for Physical stuff, and Ice Beam will let you OHKO Salamence, Garchomp, Rayquaza, and company.

Deserves a spot in my opinion, very very very good on practice when I used it at least, usually getting at least Stealth Rock + Spikes vs Layer leads or killing at least 2 Pokemons (and even both in some matches).
