Hi this will be my very last RMT for 4th gen seeing as it just ended a few hours ago. It was a fun generation and next one looks like will bring a lot of changes. Anyways until the games arrive to the States this is the final team I'm planning on using. I've been using this team for a month or so and it's been through some changes. Recently however I've been starting to lose more battles than win them and was wondering if you guys can help me out.
Edit's are in bold.
Lead:
Metagross@Lum Berry
HP 248 / ATK 232 / DEF 28
Adamant | Clear Body
~ Bullet Punch
~ Earthquake
~ Stealth Rock
~ Meteor Mash
:Why Metagross?
- Well when looking at all the possible lead options and all the leads I've used previously I was the most comfortable with using Metagross. In my opinion it's one of the most solid and best leads in the metagame.
:EV Spread / Nature.
- It's really a standard spread aside from the 28 EVs in Defense. From my experience in the past with it I never really got much out of the 28 EVs in Speed. And being pretty bulky in the Defense stat I thought I'd add onto it, making it even more bulky with near max HP stat. Adamant nature to make use of it's giant attack stat.
:Moveset.
- Bullet Punch: STAB and most importantly priority. It also helps me 2HKO Aerodactyl as it will most of the time Taunt first and thus I take it out before it sets up SR. It also helps me break Focus Sashes and can sometimes help me check Tyranitar.
- Earthquake: Standard move for Metagross, really. It weakens Ttar in the range where it will die to a Bullet Punch. It helps dent other Metagross leads but it will do around half depending on their EV investment. I can also OHKO any non-Shuca Tran IF I can predict correctly and not switch out while they SR. Jirachi, Scizor and Ape also eat it hard but with Ape it depends on the prediction.
- Stealth Rock: derp
- Meteor Mash: (...)
: VS Top 10 Leads.
:Replacement?
Hmm none really. This thing is pretty solid, however Aerodactyl and LO Azelf aren't bad.
:Synergy.
- Ground: Rotom.
- Fire: Vaporeon, Heatran.
Choiced Sweeper
Shaymin@Choice Scarf
SPE 252 / SPATK 252
Timid | Natural Cure
~ Air Slash
~ Earth Power
~ Hidden Power [Ice]
~ Seed Flare
:Why Shaymin?
- Replaced Scarf Flygon because it has better coverage and has more power which Flygon lacked.
:EV Spread / Nature.
- Standard stuff. 252 in SpAtk and Speed that way you get it to work as a sweeper. Timid raises speed and it's necessary to be able to speed tie Jolly Scarfed Flygon and also outspeed the Adamant one's.
:Moveset.
- Air Slash: I chose this over Rest and Energy Ball. One I don't think Rest is necessary when I have a Wish Support. Two I already have a STAB move, and Air Slash is great for picking off weak MixApe's and also things like that fucker Breloom.
- Earth Power: Covers Heatran mostly, and others like Jirachi and Metagross. Mostly great for revenge killing if they are at about 50% or so because that's when I can OHKO them irrc.
- Hidden Power [Ice]: Great for revenge killing Dragons. Especially since most of them are too frail or don't carry Yache Berry. Again it works great for revenge killing, but I don't think I can OHKO anything weak to Ice if it's at 75% HP or more...unless it's like Flygon or Roserade.
- Seed Flare: STAB mostly. The accuracy thing bothers me at times but I learn to deal with it. It's great for taking out those damned bulky waters, especially since they can sweep my whole team. It 2HKO's all Bulky waters iirc which is great, and they aren't able to OHKO back.
:Replacement?
None.
:Synergy.
Flying- Heatran, Rotom, Metagross.
Ice- Vaporeon, Heatran, Scizor, Metagross.
Bug- Heatran, Scizor.
Fire- Heatran, Vaporeon.
Poison- Heatran, Metagross, Scizor.
Defensive Wall
Rotom-h@Life Orb
16 HP / 252 Spd/ 242 SAtk
Timid | Levitate
~ Thunderbolt
~ Shadow Ball
~ Substitute
~ Pain Split
:Why Rotom-h?
- I figured it's got a decent bulk, it's not hit by ground attacks like Dusknoir and can basically do his job..to an extent. Also most people don't see it coming so I can force switches and act accordingly.
:EV Spread / Nature.
- Standard defensive set. Max HP and the Defense EVs make it decently bulky and after a W-o-W he can eat those physical attacks pretty well. 88 in speed is to outspeed quite a few walls but I've been thinking to moving those EVs to either special attack or defense seeing as he's even outsped by Breloom.
:Moveset.
- Thunderbolt: (...)
- Pain Split: Chose that over Overheat because I didn't see the point in Overheat on a defensive set that has an all special move pool. Yes it takes out Scizor...and? I have Heatran for Scizor so no worries. Pain Split lets him take damage and then heal back. See like Dusknoir, just not as bulky.
- Shadow Ball: STAB move really. Also for anything that resists or isn't affected by Discharge.
- Substitute: (...)
:Replacement?
- Been thinking about Bronzong or Dusknoir. This thing works better imo, but at times he just isn't as bulky.
:Synergy.
- Ghost: Heatran, Scizor, Metagross.
- Dark: Heatran, Scizor, Metagross.
Special Wall
Vaporeon@Leftovers
HP 68 / DEF 188 / SPDEF 252
Bold | Water Absorb
~ Roar
~ Protect
~ Surf
~ Wish
:Why Vaporeon?
- Mostly to deal against bulky waters and cover the fire weaknesses.
:EV Spread / Nature.
- I put more into Special Attack because then I'm able to take hits like Grass Knot and Thunderbolt better. Standard set was getting screwed over by those but I'm thinking to going back to it.
:Moveset.
- Roar: Great for pHazing Suicune and Gyarados, and it also means that if Gyara doesn't Taunt me the next time it comes in it's 25% more off it's HP.
- Protect: derp
- Surf: STAB and for Heatran and Ape.
- Wish: Healing move, and also for support to heal my other Pokemon.
:Replacement?
CroCune, RestTalk Cune or Sub CM Cune, or back to standard wish Vaporeon.
:Synergy.
- Grass: Heatran, Metagross, Scizor, Shaymin.
- Electric: Rotom, Shaymin.
Life Orb Sweeper
Heatran@Life Orb
SPE 252 / SPATK 252
Timid | Flash Fire
~ Earth Power
~ Fire Blast
~ Hidden Power [Electric]
~ Taunt
:Why Heatran?
- With so many steel types I needed something to deal with Fire attacks. I know Vaporeon can take them and Flygon can sometimes as well, but this thing boosts it's special attack from them.
:EV Spread / Nature.
- Taking advantage of it's speed and massive special attack to help me sweep better. Timid increases it's speed so it's not slower than other Non-Scarfed Trans. Also makes it faster than Bulky Gyara.
:Moveset.
- Earth Power: For dealing with other Trans, Ape or Ttar. Just type coverage.
- Fire Blast: STAB and for coverage. Also deals with Magnezone, Metagross and Scizor. All of which can be a threat.
- HP Electric: Mostly for Gyarados, but if Starmie or another water type wants to switch in they will take roughly half from this after Rocks. Gyara is OHKOd.
- Taunt: Prevents Gyara and Kingdra from setting up on me when it expects a switch, and I can OHKO then with HP Electric. It also helps me check whether the Gyara is Jolly max speed or bulky version.
:Replacement?
- Possibly MixApe but this works pretty well.
:Synergy.
- Ground: Rotom.
- Fighting: Rotom.
- Water: Vaporeon, Shaymin.
SD Sweeper
Scizor@Leftovers
ATK 252 / SPE 252
Adamant | Technician
~ Brick Break
~ Bug Bite
~ Bullet Punch
~ Swords Dance
:Why Scizor?
- Every Scizor now a days is either Scarf or Banded. This helps me switch in on Ttar and SD up as they switch to something else. It also helps if they bring something in thinking they will resist a bullet punch or some other move and I can then act accordingly. Lefties over LO that way I don't have to Roost or worry about passing a Wish. Downside to that is BP isn't as powerful as I like it to be.
:EV Spread / Nature.
- EVs make it a all out glass cannon. Adamant nature for a better attack stat to dish out more pain. Doesn't need Jolly due to STAB priority.
:Moveset.
- Brick Break: I like Superpower...on CB Scizor. I don't see a point in a move that lowers my attack AND defense on a set that focuses raising attack. So I went with Brick Break, it covers the same as Superpower just not as powerful. Also helps against those goddamn Double Screen Pokemon.
- Bug Bite: STAB and for coverage. Anything that doesn't resist it, after a +2 with max attack, STAB and technician will be either hurt badly or OHKO'd.
- Bullet Punch: No need to explain do I? One pain in the ass is Babiri Berry Ttar.
- SD: derp
:Replacement?
- SD Lucario.
:Synergy.
- Fire: Vaporeon, Heatran.
~Final thoughts:
Bulky waters are a pain and will destroy this team. Also Breloom can at times be a pain if it's behind a Sub. I used to run Scarf Hera with Sleep Talk because then any move I sleep talk with Guts is a OHKO. And also CeleTran can cause me a lot of pain. Been also testing Sub CM Raikou but it just doesn't seem to fit here.
Any help is appreciated.

1 | Azelf= Usually switch right out to Heatran because of the sudden rise in LO Azlef which OHKO's me with Fire Blast. I sometimes take my chances and Bullet Punch because if it has a Sash I'm happy.
2 | Machamp= Zen Headbutt > Bullet Punch
3 | Aerodactyl= Bullet Punch x2
4 | Metagross= SR > Switch out
5 | Swampert= SR > Switch out
6 | Jirachi= SR and EQ. If it's TrickScarf I'll take the scarf and switch to something appropriate.
7 | Infernape= Switch out to Rotom for Fake Out and work my way around it.
8 | Roserade= Zen Headbutt > Bullet Punch
9 | Heatran= Switch out or staying and EQ.
10 | Ninjask= lol. SR and Bullet Punch. Or go to Vaporeon to pHaze.
