Fire/Water/Grass Core. [OU RMT]

So I was listening to the Smogcast, and they were talking about fire/water/grass core teams, so I thought i would try one out, and I've had moderate success with it, but it could definitely be better. So here it goes.

[Yes, the Weavile has wings. DEAL WITH IT]

A Closer Look:

Weavile.gif

Weavile @ Focus Sash
Jolly Nature
252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 Def

~Fake out
~Night Slash
~Ice Punch
~Counter

Why?: Is it just me or is fake out the coolest move ever? Of coarse, its pretty much a free attack, and its great for a lead because it breaks the sash's on common leads. Other than Aero, he outspeeds anything that isnt scarfed, and can kill most with his great attack. Night slash and ice punch are for common leads [mostly aero and azelf], and counter will handle most physical attacking leads (which most anti-leads are). So yeah, ive been pretty successful with this guy, and normally he lives long enough to come back and strike again.

infernape.png

Infernape @ Life orb
Jolly Nature
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def

~Close Combat
~Stone Edge
~Mach Punch
~Blaze Kick

Why?: The first member of the core. Close combat and Blaze kick are powerful STAB moves that he has. Stone Edge is for better type coverage, and to kill some of his counters, such as Gyarados. Mach punch is a very handy tool, as it allows him to revenge kill, and gives him an edge when fighting things that are faster than him. Nape normally does good as an attacker. A good thing about him is that since he can be a physical, special or mixed attacker; he is hard to predict.

shaymin.png

Shaymin @ Life Orb
Timid Nature
252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 Def

~Seed Flare
~Earth Power
~Leech Seed
~Rest

Why?: The second member of the core. Shaymin may not be superbly fast for an OU pokemon, but he can still pull of some good sweep attempts. Seed flare is a very powerful STAB attack, but the good thing about it is that it has a 40% chance to lover the foes SpD 2 Stages, making killing them a very easy. Earth power is for type coverage, and Leech Seed helps against poke's with very high HP, namely Blissey and Snorlax. Rest is a helpful sleeping move, as natural cure cures the sleep if he switches out.

gyarados.png

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Adamant
252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 Def

~Dragon Dance
~Waterfall
~Stone Edge
~Earthquake

Why?: The third member of my core, and the on Im not so sure if I want to keep. After a DDance, he has some serious sweeping capabilities, and his moveset gives him a powerful STAB move along with great type coverage. In my playing experience, he hasnt done great on this team, and I might want to either modify him, or replace him. DUN DUN DUN!

forretress.png

Forretress @ Leftovers
Careful Nature
252 Hp / 252 SpD / 4 Def

~Spikes
~Toxic Spikes
~Rapid Spin
~Explosion

Why?: Forretress is pure support. When spikers are in play, opponents practically panic, because they have to kill them ASAP. They will practically always switch out, which reveals a new member of the opponents team. Rapid Spin is helpful because, well obviously, entry hazards are a pain in the ass. Explosion is his only attack because he lacks the ability to do decent damage with any other attacks. Even explosion doesnt do alot of damage, but ehh, its the best he's got.

lucario2.jpg

Lucario @ Choice Specs
Modest Nature
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Def

~Aura Sphere
~Shadow Ball
~Dragon Pulse
~Vacuum Wave

Why?: His main purpose is as a revenge killer, but when i've been using him, he actually has been a mighty fine straight up attacker. Vacuum wave is pretty much the only move he uses, as it is priority and STAB. He actually has really good type coverage, but since he is specs'd, I normally stick to the vacuum wave.

When Rating: I appreciate constructive criticism, and any advice. All recommendations will be considered. (Also, Im willing to brake up the F/G/W Core if you think it will help my team). Thank you for reading my post.

Looking at your team I think dragon dance Dragonite might be able to cause you a lot of trouble. On top of this you have four pokemon who are weak to fire on your team and only really Gyarados who can take repeated fire attacks. For these reasons I suggest replacing Lucario with scarfed Flygon. This will help with revenge killing which you said your Lucario was supposed to do in the first place and will also help by switching in to fire attacks especially if SR is up. I suggest using this set:

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- U-turn
- Thunderpunch

Thunderpunch is there to help you against Gyarados whilst the other moves are standard. This should help you revenge a number of threats and help with coverage problems.

I also see you struggling with Life Orb Starmie which can run through your team once Weavile is gone. It can also easily switch out of Weavile due to the lack of pursuit. For this reason I suggest moving Infernape to the lead Spot and replacing Weavile with Scarfed Tyranitar.

Infernape @ Focus Sash
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk/192 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Fake Out
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Close Combat

Using Infernape as a lead still allows him to remain part of your F/W/G core but in my opinion makes him much more useful than he is in your team currently.Infernape is a great lead in today's metagame and can easily get stealth rock up against numerous leads. He can still threaten teams with his dual STABs but can now hit off both sides. The loss of mach punch won't be felt too much if you decide to go with Flygon + Tyranitar as they can easily revenge everything Mach Punch needed to (i.e. DD tyranitar and Lucario) Best thing about this lead.... it has Fake out! =P

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk/6 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Earthquake

I know you're probably reluctant to go with two scarfers on your team but Tyranitar can really help you out. It can revenge Lucario which otherwise might be a pain for your team if Gyarados is gone and can prevent Starmie from switching out and causing any trouble to your team. It also works great at supporting DD Gyarados for a sweep as it can easily pursuit those pesky Rotoms who always get in the way of a Gyarados sweep.
It's synergy is also good - easily taking weak thunderbolts, ice beams and fire blasts aimed at your team with it's good special defence.

Overall I hope any one of these changes will help overcome some of the problems you might have faced with this team. Good luck!

since your team is primarily offensive, your forretress should run stealth rock instead of toxic spikes. none of your pokemon can really take advantage of the poison damage and stealth rocks can put some damage on flying pokemon and levitating pokes as they switch in.
this is my first time using RMT so correct me if I am wrong

forry is definitely not it for this team. Adding maybe a mixpert could set up rocks and check things like dragonite.

I'd change Infernape to NP MixApe, and change Gyarados to Life Orb Starmie. Starmie and Shaymin partially form a FWG core, and rip apart others. I'd also switch Lucario to the SD version. If you want to keep Forretress, replace Toxic Spikes with Stealth Rock. In this case, it may also be worth it to change Infernape to Heatran to synergize with Forrestress's 4x weakness to fire. I find Heatran also likes to mess with FWG cores. This would almost be and (Anti-FWG) FWG team. Hope I was able to help some.

Choice Scarf Heatran with Overheat or even Fire Blast OHKO's 4 of your 6 Pokemon.
Fix that.

(And I'm not sure if Vaccuum Wave will OHKO when SR is not in play).
