VGC First attempt at VGC

This is my first attempt at a VGC team after recently getting back into Pokemon.

Kangaskhan-Mega @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Parental Bond
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Double Edge
- Power-Up Punch
- Sucker Punch

Kang is so strong and the normal typing seemed like something simple to build around. Fake out over protect for chip and utility, Double Edge all the dmg, Power-Up punch is for the +2 and dmg, but I am considering Low Kick. Sucker Punch priority to save mons and get in that last second dmg.

Dusclops @ Eviolite
Ability: Frisk
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Disable
- Protect
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt

Dusclops is suspect I went to him initially because of bulk and ghost could be great switch in for anything that wanted to hit kang with fighting or normal. HIs move set is a little too similar to Sableye and am considering switching. Pure utility mon taunt other ones, protect disable threats, and wilo non-fighting/normal physical sweepers.

Sylveon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Psyshock

Sylveon is a great dragon slayer and is another cover for fighting weakness. Hyper voice for the spread and stab just too good not to bring. Shadow ball for ghosts that want to disrupt kang hp grass for rotom-wash and the psyshock for any posion types that want to take a shot at it.

Volcarona @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Rage Powder
- Bug Buzz
- Fiery Dance
- Protect

Volcarona has great special attack and defense and covers the steel weakness introduced by Sylveon.
Rage powder to redirect special hits away from other sweepers, Bug buzz great stab for Cresselia that are running about, fiery dance good accuracy/power and special attack boost is gravy.

Milotic @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Competitive
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Icy Wind
- Protect
- Recover

Milotic is a fat, specially defensive, and has a good defensive typing. Keeping fire types in check and fishing for burns with scald, Icy wind for a little speed control and something for those flyers like lando/salamence, protect/recover for staying alive for the last few ticks of burn damage when needed.

Dragonite @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ice Punch
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed

Dragonite brings more bulk with some great coverage that the rest of the team is missing. Weakness policy to really punish anyone that tries to hit him with super effective and strike back with outrage for destroying anything that isn't fairy, EQ for the spread dmg and its just too good not to bring, E speed for the priority to finish off weakened opponents, and the Ice Punch for more power with Icy Wind being the only other ice move on the team to really K.O. those pesky Salamence/lando

This team seems to have some problems dealing with both sun teams, rain teams, and electric types that can avoid the EQ. Zapdos/Thunderous seem to be especially problematic and I am considering Rock Slide/Stone Edge on Dragonite. Amungus seems like a good partner for the team being able to hit water types, redirect, and spore, but I am not sure where he needs to fit, but the HP grass just doesnt seem to get it done most of the time. Another change I am looking at is Dusnoir with a few offensive moves and keeping disable/protect or going full prankster with Sableye. Let me know what everyone thinks about the current team and the potential changes!

100th rate \o/

Hey there, for a beginner's team this actually looks pretty good! The Pokemon and sets are pretty much on point, however, there are a few things I suggest you change. For starters, some of the spreads needs to be changed. Using max Defense EVs on Kangskhan doesn't really accomplish much to be honest. Considering you're using Power-Up Punch, I suggest you change Kangaskhan's spread to a simple spread of 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe with a Jolly nature. Fast Kangaskhan is much preferred in this meta because we have things like Terrakion and Virizion that threatens Kangaskhan regardless of its bulk. Using a Jolly nature wouldn't hurt too much considering you have Power-Up Punch to boost Kangaskhan's Attack if needed.

On Sylveon, Hidden Power Grass honestly isn't that great of a coverage move considering Rotom-W is hit harder with Hyper Voice anyways. I suggest replacing Hidden Power Grass with Hidden Power Ground so that Sylveon can hit Fire-types, most notably Heatran and Arcanine, harder. I also suggest changing Sylveon's EV spread to Aaron Zheng's spread of 92 HP / 116 Def / 252 SpA / 48 Spe with a Modest Nature. This spread allows Sylveon to survive a Jolly Mega Kangaskhan's Return while the added Speed can allow it to outrun other base 60s, such as opposing Sylveon and Aegislash.

Defensive:
252 Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Return vs. 92 HP / 116 Def Sylveon: 153-181 (84 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Offensive:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 148+ SpD Rotom-W: 82-97 (52.2 - 61.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Hidden Power Grass vs. 252 HP / 148+ SpD Rotom-W: 78-92 (49.6 - 58.5%) -- 98.4% chance to 2HKO

Specially Defensive Milotic honestly isn't the best, considering the metagame is much more physically oriented and Milotic already has a great Special Defense stat. Since you're running a much more supportive Milotic, I suggest you change its spread to Guru Fernandez's spread of 236 HP / 156 Def / 100 SpA / 12 SpD / 4 Spe with a Bold Nature. This spread allows Milotic to survive a Mega Kangaskhan's Double Edge, Hydreigon's Specs Draco Meteor, and Thunderbolt from Manectric/Zapdos/Thundurus.

252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 236 HP / 156+ Def Milotic: 153-181 (76.5 - 90.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Sitrus Berry recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 236 HP / 12 SpD Milotic: 145-172 (72.5 - 86%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Sitrus Berry recovery

252 SpA Mega Manectric Thunderbolt vs. 236 HP / 12 SpD Milotic: 132-156 (66 - 78%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Sitrus Berry recovery

252+ SpA Zapdos Thunderbolt vs. 236 HP / 12 SpD Milotic: 134-162 (67 - 81%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Sitrus Berry recovery

252 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Thunderbolt vs. 236 HP / 12 SpD Milotic: 159-190 (79.5 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Sitrus Berry recovery

While Weakness Policy certainly isn't my first item of choice for Dragonite, it's actually not too bad with your team, though I still find Lum Berry a better option. The one thing that separates Dragonite from other Dragon-types like Hydreigon/Garchomp/Latios is that Dragonite has access to Dragon Dance. Not using it is kind of a waste to be honest so I suggest changing Dragonite's moveset to Dragon Dance | Dragon Claw | Extreme Speed | Protect as well as switching its spread to 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe with a Jolly nature. Outrage is really risky in VGC considering it doesn't allow you to choose its target. Dragon Claw, albeit much weaker, is a much more reliable option. The only thing that Ice Punch realistically hits harder is Landorus-T and Amoonguss, both of which you have Pokemon for anyways. Against Salamence, you're better off going for Dragon Claw. Protect is really important, especially on WP Dragonite, because after you get up one Dragon Dance boost/WP boost, your opponent will most likely double target it to try and get it off the field as fast as possible. You can easily capitalize off of that with Protect, which ends up wasting their turn; a wasted turn can be GAME CHANGING in VGC. Protect can also protect from status conditions such as burn and paralysis. Now you might be wondering why I switched to a Jolly nature. Well with a Jolly nature, Dragonite will be able to outrun Choice Scarf Adamant Landorus-T after one Dragon Dance boost, which can be crucial, especially if Landorus were to have activated Dragonite's WP with Rock Slide. Jolly over Adamant is easily mitigated by Dragon Dance/Weakness Policy as well so you're not missing out on much.

Now for bigger changes, I definitely suggest using Amoonguss on your team, as it gives you an answer for rain and Trick Room teams. I suggest replacing Dusclops with Amoonguss. Dusclops doesn't offer anything for your team to be honest. It's a HUGE momentum sapper considering it sits there and doesn't do anything, it'll be dead weight a lot of times. It's too slow to make use of Disable and Taunt, and its a huge Taunt bait. Amoonguss, on the other hand, offers much better support with Spore being able to open up chances for Dragonite and Kangaskhan to set up with their respective setup moves by putting a threat to sleep. Catgonk's spread of 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 SpD with a Relaxed nature allows Amoonguss to survive a Mega Metagross's Zen Headbutt.

With Amoonguss already offering Rage Powder support, Volcarona isn't really needed anymore. In that sense, I suggest replacing it with Heatran. Heatran with a Shuca Berry gives you an answer to sun, as it is immune Charizard's Fire-type moves and resists Venusaur's STABs. Heatran also hard walls Cresselia considering it has nothing that can hit Heatran for super effective damage. Your team is also super weak to Fairy spam, most notably Mega Gardevoir, which Heatran completely stops. It offers the same Fire-type coverage as Volcarona, so you're not missing anything by making the switch. With a spread of 44 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 204 Spe with a Modest nature and a Shuca Berry, Heatran is able to survive an Earthquake from Landorus-T while the Speed EVs allows it to outrun neutral base 70s, such as Adamant Bisharp.

252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 44 HP / 4 Def Shuca Berry Heatran: 144-170 (83.7 - 98.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Hidden Power Ground vs. 44 HP / 4 SpD Shuca Berry Heatran: 84-100 (48.8 - 58.1%) -- 98% chance to 2HKO

252+ SpA Mega Gardevoir Hidden Power Ground vs. 44 HP / 4 SpD Shuca Berry Heatran: 86-102 (50 - 59.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Again, that's a really good team man! I don't expect a beginner to make complex spreads like those above so don't worry too much about it haha. Hope I helped man and good luck with the team!!! :]
