Heh.
So anyway, yeah. This is my first competitive team that I'm trying to put together (but don't let that stop you from shooting it down if you feel like it :P LOL), and any criticism would be welcome. So, without further ado (because I just KNOW you're all holding you're breath for this), here we go:
Roserade @Focus Sash
Natural Cure
Timid 252 Sp.Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4HP
-Toxic Spikes
-Sleep Powder
-Leaf Storm
-Hidden Power [Fire]
Roserade is, for all intents and purposes, my lead (unless team preview makes me think twice about it). It can almost always get up Toxic Spikes, thanks to both Focus Sash and Sleep Powder. Once it’s set up entry hazards/ sleeped something, it can proceed to hit stuff hard with Leaf Storm, or Hidden Power Fire for things that think they can wall it (looking at you, Ferrothorn).
Skarmory @Shed Shell
Sturdy
Impish 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 Sp.Def
-Brave Bird
-Roost
-Stealth Rocks
-Whirlwind
Skarmory is... well, it’s Skarmory, and this set is pretty standard. Wall physical threats, set up entry hazards, and generally annoy with Whirlwind/ Roost. Brave Bird stuff when you can, and stay the heck away from special threats. I use Shed Shell over Leftovers to escape that naughty Magnezone who thinks he can trap you.
Blissey @Leftovers
Natural Cure
Bold 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 Sp.Def
-Wish
-Protect
-Seismic Toss
-Toxic
The second half of SkarmBliss. And, like Skarmory, Blissey doesn’t really need an introduction; wall special threats to the moon and back, Wish + Protect for healing and team utility, Seismic Toss for reasonable damage, Toxic to stall stuff out. Not much else to say here; it’s just bliss :P
Weavile @Choice Band
Pressure
Jolly 252 Atk/ 216 Spe/ 40HP
-Pursuit
-Ice Shard
-Low Kick
-Ice Punch
In the words of Homer Simpson, “REVENGE!”. Heh. Good for finishing off weakened stuff, and especially good at getting rid of pesky dragons. Ice Shard is good priority, and packs a punch. Ice Punch on the other hand, gets a bit more power behind it (being Weavile’s strongest attack) for when it needs it. Pursuit pseudo-traps stuff like Reuniclus and does nasty damage, while Low Kick rounds off its coverage. Choice Band powers up its attack, to make up for its otherwise low-base power moves.
Flygon @Choice Scarf
Levitate
Jolly 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 HP
-Earthquake
-U-turn
-Outrage
-Stone Edge
What with its good speed, Flygon also proves to be a good revenger on my team; it’s also a good scouter with a speedy U-turn and, when certain threats are gone, it can make a decent show for itself as a physical sweeper. Like Weavile, Flygon also provides a pretty nice check to most other dragons (excluding Garchomp, with a 50/50 shot at Salamence). The idea is that opponents are weakened by entry hazards (Stealth Rocks/ Toxic Spikes) or by stalling/ more powerful attacks (i.e. Roserade’s Leaf Storm) and then Flygon (and Weavile) can niftily finish things up. Hence, it’s as fast as possible, and it’s moveset provides good coverage.
Tentacruel @Leftovers
Rain Dish
Calm 252 HP/ 120 Def/ 136 Sp.Def
-Toxic Spikes
-Rapid Spin
-Surf
-Sludge Wave
Probably the weakest point of my team/ most unnecessary pokemon on my team. Tentacruel also has Toxic Spikes, should Roserade fail to get them up, as well as Rapid Spin to remove entry hazards. Surf and Sludge Wave provide reliable STAB damage when it’s got nothing else to do. Another good special wall that helps stop special sweepers, and allow toxic to take effect.
So yeah, that’s it. One thing that I am aware of is that my team lacks a real ‘sweeper’, which can be problematic; and, as I mentioned, Tentacruel really lacks a specific purpose in my team. It can spin hazards, but then my team kind of resists entry hazards anyway (barring Weavile). Should I just go without a spinner? Hmph. Anyway, comments welcomed (or begged; whatever it takes you to reply ;)) and thanks in advance.
