Hi all! This is my first thread and I've never battled competitively before, so I'd really appreciate any advice or alternatives that you could give me! I think the team could do with another wall like Jellicent or Gliscor, but I'm not sure! I'm also new to competitive battling so apologies if some of the explanations are nonsense! Anyhow, here goes:
Politoed
Nature: Bold
Ability: Drizzle
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Spe
Moves: Scald, Protect, Toxic, Perish Song
This guy obviously makes the whole thing tick. Since he isn't very resilient I trout max HP and Defence would make him a bit of a wall with protect and toxic. It should be good at staying alive until its not needed anymore: ie when any opposing weather inducers are removed.
Starmie
Nature: Timid
Ability: Natural Cure
Item: Life Orb
EV's: 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 SpD
Moves: Hydro Pump, Thunder, Ice Beam, Rapid Spin
Starmie is pretty vital, as a really good sweeper even without rain. With rain, Stab Hydro Pump combined with Life Orb becomes pretty deadly. Thunder is better than Tbolt for a rain team obviously, and Rapid Spin means that Starmie is a great teammate for Dragonite, which I have on the team too.
Toxicroak
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Dry Skin
Item: Black Sludge
EV's: 244 HP, 132 Atk, 120 Def, 12 Spe
Substitute, Sucker Punch, Bulk Up, Drain Punch
Toxicroak is great on Rain teams! The potential here for some ridiculous health gain is huge, and it works pretty well with Ferrothorn, combing Leech Seed with Drain Punch, Black Sludge and Dry Skin. Plus Sucker Punch is a handy priority move that can hit Latios and Latias hard from behind a sub. It has the potential to counter a lot of things, and works well with most of the team.
Scizor
Nature: Adamant
Item: Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EV's: 248 HP, 252 Atk, 8 Spe
Moves: U-turn, Bullet Punch, Superpower, Pursuit
This guy is a beast. Rain limits his weakness to fire and he has great synergy with most members of the team. He's basically there to counter Latios, Latias, Tyranitar and Terrakon off the top of my head, but he also has U-Turn, which is a handy tool to have obviously.
Ferrothorn
Nature: Relaxed
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EV's: 252 HP, 88 Def, 168 SpD
Moves: Stealth Rock, Leech Seed, Gyro Ball, Power Whip
The wall of the team. Leech Seed provides health regeneration for Life Orb users, and the rain limits its weakness to fire slightly. I went for Stealth Rock over Spikes as I felt it had more potential to do damage ( do feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, as is the same for any mistakes on here!) and it's a great counter against Tyranitar and Raikou, which could threaten.
Dragonite
Nature: Modest
Item: Choice Specs
Ability: Multiscale
EV's: 76 Atk, 252 SpA, 180 Spe
Moves: Hurricane, Thunder, Aqua Tail, Extremespeed
So yeah, he's probably the most important sweeper in the team. Three moves are boosted nicely by the rain, and Extremespeed could surprise Garchomp or Salamence users ( am I right in thinking they both out speed??!) plus Hurricane can rip holes through practically anything. This build is all about smacking things hard, and hopefully he does that!
So yeah, hopefully this is pretty decent. As I said before I'm completely new so if I've made any mistakes I'd love it if you could help point me in the right direction! Plus should I get another wall in there? I'd greatly appreciate any advice you can give! Thanks all!
