Hello. Ok so this is my first competitive team(the title probably already told you that lol)and so I'm posting it on here, hoping to get some help with it. So here goes.
Oh and sorry if the sets are too bog standard, but I'm kinda new at competitive battling and I thought I might as well start with the standards before getting too fancy. Oh well.
Changes made in Bold
Quick look:
Basically I try to use my members to support the team and eliminate my opponent's counters to Gyarados so that he can sweep.
Swampert @ leftovers
252hp, 252 def, 4 attack
Relaxed Nature(+def, -spe)
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
Swampert is my lead, and I personally think it's great. His bulk is such that the only attacks that can OHKO him are usually grass attacks. Swampert also sets up those rocks that every team out there uses for KOs, which mine is no exception to, and also provides a vital rock resist.
Earthquake is STAB and lets me hit many threats that Swampert can counter, such as Metagross. Ice Beam is used so that I can OHKO Salamence, who could be a bitch after it has picked up a DDance boost. This EV spread also ensures that +1 Outrage from Salamence will never OHKO me. Roar is used in the early game to scout and generally pick up SR damage.
Forretress @ leftovers
252 hp, 112 atk, 144 def(0 spe IV)
Relaxed Nature(+def, -spe)
- Gyro Ball
- Payback
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
Ah Forretress. This thing has been around since GSC, and it's still as good as ever. This thing is my spinner, since over half of my team is grounded and I only have 1 SR resist; add the fact that Gyarados doesn't really care for taking 25% upon switching in, and I knew I needed a spinner. Forretress also provides Toxic Spikes, which I chose over Spikes because this team can struggle at times aganist stall teams, and TSpikes helps me wear them down.
Gyro Ball was chosen for it's stab, and with Forry's horrible speed, it usually can do some decent damage. Earthquake is chosen so that I can nail those Magnezone that like to switch in on Forry, and also do a decent chunk on Heatran. Payback has replaced EQ because ghosts were a bitch and it's more helpful generally. Thanks Gothic Bastard.
Blissey @ leftovers
252 hp, 252 def, 4spe
Calm Nature(+spd, -atk)
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Wish
- Protect
The infamous pink blob returns! Anyway Blissey is without a doubt the best special wall in the game. She is the special sponge on my team, and also my Wish Passer. As you may have noticed, none of my pokes have reliable healing, so they can be beaten down over time. Wish helps me alleviate this problem, and can also give my sweepers another chance to do more damage if they have been hurt badly. Protect is used for scouting and also to stall Toxic Spikes, and also can be used to give Blissey a guarenteed heal. Seismic Toss is damage, and thunder wave is chosen over toxic because it would be redundant with Toxic Spikes, and thunder wave can also cripple switch-ins that are immune to poison, like Lucario and Heatran.
Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
252 atk, 252 spe, 4 spe
Jolly Nature(+spe, -spA)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
The beast of GSC appears on my team as the revenge killer and trapper! Tyranitar's job is to eliminate some of Gyarados's counters, such as Scarfed Rotom-A, Gengar, and Starmie, with Pursuit or Crunch. He can come in on Choiced Shadow Balls aimed at Gengar from opposing Gengar and Rotom-A, or Choiced HP Fire from Gengar and Celebi aimed at Forretress, and KO them with Pursuit or Crunch depending on whether they stay in or not. He can also absorb Trick aimed at Swampert from lead Starmie and Jirachi, and defeat them with Earthquake/Pursuit.
Gengar @ Life Orb
252 spA, 252 spe, 4 hp
Timid Nature(+spe, - atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Protect
- Hidden Power(Fire)
Gengar is definitely my favorite special sweeper, and he can also remove Rotom-A, and take a chunk out of Celebi and Cresselia, who otherwise Gyarados may have some trouble removing. Gengar can also sweep sometimes if opposing Blissey has been removed.
The moves are all pretty obvious. Shadow Ball is stab, and along with Focus Blast have perfect coverage(if focus blast manages not to miss that is). Thunderbolt murders Gyarados that have not gotten a DDance boost, as well as hitting Suicune, and HP fire is used aganist steels such as Metagross, Scizor, and Jirachi, although I will have to predict well to nail Scizor with HP fire on the switch, otherwise I will have to play bullet punch/pursuit mind games with it.Protect has replaced Tbolt since Scizor is generally a bitch to this team and it was constantly revenging Gengar. Thx xXIPieXx
Gyarados @ Leftovers
252 atk, 252 spe, 4 hp
Adamant Nature (+atk, - spA)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Bounce
And the star of the show makes his appearence! Gyarados is definitely one of my favorite pokemon, not only does he look awesome, but he is a beast when played correctly. After a DDance, which is not hard to do considering how many switches Gyarados can force, if the opponent's counters to him are gone, it's pretty much gg.
Waterfall is stab, and the flinch hax it can provide can sometimes buy me a free turn. Stone Edge is used to hit Salamence, Zapdos, and other Gyarados. Bounce is chosen so that Gyarados can also hit Celebi and Starmie, who would otherwise be able to survive my other attacks and retaliate.
Well thats my first competitive team, plz rate and comment. Thx
