First competitive team

So I'm painfully trying to learn competitive video game pokemon after playing the tcg very competitively a few years back. This is my first team so please point out anything that would help me. I know this team is far from perfect.

Magnezone @ Light Clay
Ability: Analytic
Ev's: 252 Special Defense, 252 Hp, 4 Defense
Ivs: 0 Speed
Nature: Careful
Reflect
Light screen
Thunder Wave
Volt-Switch

This Magnezone was designed to be my lead. He's bulky, sets up screens, has access to thunder wave to cripple and has a powerful STAB Analytic Volt-Switch to get Politoed in. I have considered running Thunder over Thunder wave simply to be able to hit incredibly hard with Magnezone too in the rain.

Politoed @ Damp Rock
Abilitity: Drizzle
Evs: 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Special Defense
Nature: Bold
Scald
Toxic
Perish Song
Rest/Protect

This set is primarily for getting the rain up. Thus the defensive set as politoed's main role is simply to stay alive to be able to setup rain whenever needed. I Really have no idea what to run move wise outside of scald. I like rest as sleep shouldn't be to big of a deal considering that I more so care about simply keeping Politoed alive to setup rain. Protect seems ok but then you end up wasting rain turns while you could be doing other things. Perish song and toxic were just two moves that I got off the smogon moveset from Poli's B/W writeup and seemed to still make sense.

Goodra @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 Defense 252 Hp 4 Special Defense
Nature: Modest
Rest
Thunder
Dragon Pulse
Sludge Wave

I kind of designed this dragon to be an attacking tank. With modest and base 110 special attack it has some power but with base 150 special defense and the heavy defense investment this thing should be hard to take down. When you pair that with instant full recovery in rest+hydration in the rain this thing should be hard to take down.

Blastoise @ Blastoisenite
Abilitity: Rain dish
Ev: 252 Hp 252 Special Attack 4 Speed
Nature: Modest
Rapid Spin/Protect/Dark Pulse
Dragon Pulse
Aura Sphere
Water Pulse/Scald
My mega of the team. Has a lot of bulk which I liked considering I tried to keep this a defensive team. Not sure if I need Rapid spin but it seems useful in certain situations. Also not sure if the 10 extra base power is worth passing up to have the burn possibility from scald. The Hp investment increases bulk and the Special Attack investment to hit as hard as possible.

These last two pokemon I really am not sure on, not that I was sure on any of the first few pokemon.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
Evs: 252 Hp 48 Defense 208 Special Defense
Spikes
Stealth Rock
Leach Seed
Power Whip

The standard set that I pulled off smogon. The rain should help with Ferro's fire weakness and he helps to setup hazards. Leech seed helps add to the general survivability of my pokemon. I've considered running Explosion over Leech seed simply to have something to do a ton of damage to a potential threat.

Toxicroak @ Black Sludge
Ability: Dry Skin
Evs: 252 Hp, 252 Attack, 4 Speed
Bulk Up
Drain Punch
Ice Punch
Sucker Punch
Bulk up adds to Toxi's pretty weak defense and helps to keep him sturdy along with the HP investment. I again pulled this off of smogons write ups.

This team is designed to be a bulkier rain based team. I really hate that Swift swim+Drizzle got banned as I really wanted to run kingdra on this team. Its probably pretty obvious that I have no idea what I am doing so throw any suggestion at me and I will be greatly appreciative. I have barely started the breeding process so don't feel bad if I have to totally revamp or remove a pokemon from this team. Wash rotom seems like a good useable pokemon for this team but I didn't know how to fit it in ect. Along with thunderus/tornadus.

I also hope I did this correctly, if anything needs to be changed just lmk and I will fix it.

For Politoed run Scald, Toxic, Rest, and Sleep Talk. Since rain is no longer permanent it needs to switch in a lot and it lasts much longer with Rest and Sleep Talk. Also, because rain is no longer permanent the Swift Swim + Drizzle ban was lifted, meaning you can use Kingdra

Bulky rain stall is the opposite of what you want to be doing this gen thanks to the rain nerf, Goodra can stay if you like but swap toxicroak for Kingdra asap (special sweeper set with Draco meteor, dragon pulse, surf and perhaps hidden power fighting). Normally I recommend dragonite as a Kingdra companion but if you have Goodra staying as your wall then I would use manaphy, who is a rain god that can pump and sweep in record time (just make sure to send it in immediately after rain starts). I dislike running dual screens (and magnezone isn't particularly good at it anyway...) with rain, it's just too much setup. You need w turns for screens, then a turn for rain, and meanwhile your opponents mega lucario is now at +6 and doesn't give a fuck about screens or paralysis or poison. If you want to run magnezone (who does a good job removing steels and tanking grass) then go with the standard bulky offense build. If you insist on keeping dual screens, use either cresselia or espeon, both of whom can also serve as support clerics and backup rain dancers. As for blastoise, I guess if ever there was a use for him it would be on a rain team, but I would still rather go with something like a mega lucario (or mega gardevoir is another interesting option if you want a bulky offense mon). On rain teams you generally want to reserve water spots for pokes that directly contribute to the rain strategy (swift swim/drizzle/hydration), and use the other spots for coverage. You have plenty of water stab without giving yourself another electric and grass weakness! So ya, less bulk more power is the name of the game with rain teams this gen, the rain simply doesn't last long enough for a rain stall/Super bulky rain team to be efficient. That goes doubly if you keep dual screens (which are used on hyper offense teams)

Ok thanks for the help guys. I get what you mean by rain having to be hyper offensive due to the nerf. I guess I'll go through and redo this team in that manner.
