So I have been playing around with this team in Showdown for a bit. I think it's pretty decent, but I was wondering if you guys find some issues with it or have some suggestions for improvement?
Gyarados @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce
- Power Whip
Standard Gyarados set. It's very good as a late-game Dynamax sweeper or early against the occasional foe that doesn't have an answer to it. But it gets quickly walled by Corsola, which finds its way in more and more teams, it seems. For which I have Hydreigon. I could go Lefties over the Boots, but as I have no means to counteract rocks on my side, I aimed for the safer option.
Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Dragon Pulse
- Flamethrower
Hydreigon is such a good mon in the current OU. Once the scarfers are gone, its speed allows it to outspeed most of the threats. Flamethrower over Fire Blast has been great for handling bulky fairies that get hard-switched in. A +2 Flamethrower quickly gets rid of a hard-switched in Clefable, for instance. Not sure about Dragon Pulse though, perhaps I should swap for Flash Cannon?
Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Wish
- Protect
- Calm Mind
This goes well with Hydreigon and Ferrothorn. It's also a good answer to Clefable or Toxapex. Protect is also important to wall-off against my foe's Dyna attacks.
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 24 Def / 232 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Knock Off
I decided to run T-Wave and Knock Off instead of Gyro Ball and Power Whip or Protect. Not sure about the T-Wave, but Knock Off has been great so far. I have gotten rid of many a Darmanitan scarf, for instance. It also punishes a Hatterene that wants to mirror bounce my rocks; instead, I knock off their lefties. There just haven't been that many instances where I needed a Chople Berry; thus, I went for the Rocky Helmet.
Aegislash @ Air Balloon
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Iron Head
- Substitute
I love this set. It gets in against a Fairy, subs, and goes to work. It is great together with Hydreigon. Having a priority move has been helpful so far. Not sure about Iron Head yet -- I first had Sacred Sword, but I wasn't too much of a fan of it. Also I'm neutral on the Balloon. Also not sure about the EV spreads, tbh.
Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
Scarf Rotom is just awesome. Never mind the occasional game-changing Hydropump miss - it gets rid of Steel types and Gyarados. I chose Thunderbolt over Trick because I often find myself in a situation where I want to keep Rotom in and click an Electro move. I guess I could swap Wisp for Trick, though.
So, what do you guys think?
