VGC First Competitive Team

Hey all, this is my first time making a competitive team and was looking for some advice. My record with this team right now is 5-8, mainly my problem I believe is dealing with any electric types really but I am just looking for any advice really to help me get better at teambuilding. This team is being used in [Gen 9] VGC 2025 Reg G

Kingambit (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 56 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Low Kick
- Swords Dance

I was going to use Kingambit as kind of a bulky attacker but in the battles I have done I tend not to pick them as much as I thought I was. When I do use them they do perform pretty decent.

Ogerpon-Hearthflame @ Hearthflame Mask
Ability: Mold Breaker
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Ivy Cudgel
- Knock Off
- Spiky Shield

I use Ogerpon in almost all of my battles, they seem to do really well against a lot of the matchups I put them in. I usually use them to get rid of Rillabooms, Calyrex, and Urshifus

Flutter Mane @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Moonblast
- Protect

Flutter Mane is also another one I send in a lot to try and take out some hard hitters with dazzling gleam and they tend to do well also at just finishing off pokemon I managed to get low with terapagos.

Terapagos-Terastal @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tera Shell
Tera Type: Stellar
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 15 Atk
- Tera Starstorm
- Hyper Beam
- Earth Power
- Thunderbolt

Terapagos is pretty much on every fight I do, I tend to send him out with swampert to get them low while I set up a stealth rock and thats when I send in Flutter Mane to try and clean up

Iron Hands @ Assault Vest
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 140 HP / 252 Atk / 116 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Wild Charge
- Drain Punch
- Heavy Slam
- Fake Out

I don't use Iron Hands that much I just feel like the fights I am getting in I just can't use Iron Hands

Big Tonka (Swampert) (M) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Torrent
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Flip Turn
- Earthquake
- Yawn

Swampert is my favorite pokemon so I wanted to try and make a team where Swampert could actually be useful and the only thing I could really think of is to use him to set up hazards, and tank some shots as long as I am not up against a Rillaboom.

Sorry, If some of the descriptions suck like I said this is my first time trying to build a competitive team like this. If you need anymore information I would be glad to give some but any help is appreciated. Thank y'all very much!

This team feels all over the place, and you're not focusing enough on your restricted piece (Terapagos).

Since you are a new player, I recommend starting with a sample team to get a feel for the meta before building. You can find samples here or here.
