XY NU first crack at XY

Hello everyone! this is my first try at XY and I chose to start in NU!

I choose NU cause I've always been a fan of the lower tiers.
This team is based around gurdurr and dousion setting up and sweeping depending on the team if it's more weak against physical or special.

anyway on to the team

Relicanth @ Leftovers
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Head Smash
- Waterfall
- Toxic

We start off the team with Relicanth. The rocky bass is the one I usually start off the game with. He is my stealth rocker and one of my physical walls. I use him for more flying types since my team doesn't like taking flying moves.

Stealth rock, because I feel the need to always have rocks on a team
Head smash for a strong stab move against most mons
Waterfall for another stab move
Toxic to wear down walls / switch ins and to lower the amount of turns sweepers can stay in for

Evs and nature are standard and best way to take physical hits

Gurdurr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off

Gurdurr was one of the pokemon I made the team around. He is my status absorber (even thou I have a heal beller), and is one of my setup pokes for mid-end game. he is sort of my revenge killer due to mach punch, thats if only there at low HP

Bulk up so I can sweep easier with it when I get enough boost
Drain punch so I can live longer while taking damage
mach punch for priority and to be kindof a revenge killer
knock off to get rid of items and deal soild damage to stuff like ghost types

252 hp for a good amount of bulk
252 atk plus adamant for the most power before boosting
guts so I can take statuses like burns
Eviolite so I can get good bulk before bulk up and helps take hits better

pokemon___duosion_by_electrical_socket-d6uck7s.png

Duosion @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Psychic
- Signal Beam

Duosion is my second setup sweeper or special sweeper. setting up calm minds, especially against defensive pokes due to magic guard due to it being able to absorb status.

Calm mind so it can setup and deal good damage to non special walls. I can also take special attacks better
Recover so I can heal from damage taking and continue to sweep or deal damage
Psychic being my best move at dealing damage, dealing good damage after a few boost from calm mind
Signal Beam for coverage against mons that resist psychic
252 hp and 252 def and bold plus eviolite to take a few hits plus i'll be boosting up my special defence so no point in putting much evs there

quilladin_by_girgrunny-d6lzjol.png

Quilladin @ Eviolite
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Bulldoze
- Seed Bomb
I love this thing. plane and simple. It take physical hits like a champ, sets up hazards and leech seeds for and slows even can slow down mons since the team is pretty slow. It has decent special defence too. Even some super effective hits it takes well. It has a good synergy with relicanth due to Quill cna take the ground and grass attacks thrown at the bass while relicanth can take all the fire and flying attacks thrown at Quill.
Leech seed so it can heal while taking hits and stalling out the physical attackers, baring there some sort of fire or flying pokes
Spikes for more hazards damage
Bulldoze cause as I said this team is slow :(
Seed bomb for a good stab move
252 hp 252 def plus impish and eviolite to take physical hits like a champ

Golurk @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 156 HP / 252 Atk / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Drain Punch
- Shadow Punch
- Earthquake
I wanted a spinblocker to keep the hazards on the field for as long as possible and I chose Golurk as my spinblocker. He can dish out good damage plus force switches with sub to rakc up the hazards damage on checks and heal up from drain punch or leech seed from quill.

sub to rack up hazards by forcing switches and dealing damage while at the same time being safe from attacks
Drain punch to heal off the health taking away form subs and from hits he took while not under a sub
Shadowpunch for a good stab especially being boosted from iron fist
Earthquake for a stronger stab on stuff like fire and poison types
I just use the black and white ev spread but if anyone has a better spread i'll be happy to try it out :]
leftovers to recover from subs

Lickilicky @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Heal Bell
- Knock Off
- Dragon Tail
And finally the last member, Lickilicky. He is the special wall of this team, wish passer and heals the team from status. It's does it's job well even taking physical hits well when needed. It can also phaze and abuse the hazards put on the field.
Wish to not only heal it's self form damage, but to heal other members well due it's high hp
Heal bell to cure anyone form status
Knockoff to annoy pokemon by getting rid of their items
Dragon Tail to phaze and stop set mons from doing too much damage
252hp, 252 spd plus a careful nature help lickilicky take special hits to it's best ability

threat list: Flying types tend to give me problems if relicanth is dead or at lowhealth cuase nothing else on my team likes to take all the bravebirds form stuff like guts swellow

My is pretty slow so it's sort of hard to revenge kill anything

Trick can be annoying aswell since I have nothing thats wants to take a choice item

So I thats the end of this and I thank you for your time and help

I will take all your feed back into consideration :)
have a good day :]
another thing is hazards hurt me too due to not having a spiner

First off, you mention that Flying-types are a problem with your team once Relicanth is finished. It sounds like you want to save him for later in the game. So here's my advice:

Make Golurk your Stealth Rock user. Replace Substitute with Stealth Rock. Change EVs on Golurk to reflect this.

Change Relicanth's moves, giving it greater coverage and the ability to be more of a physical wall capable of stopping these Flying-types than a entry hazard setting lead. Change EVs here to reflect this.

Change Quilladin out. I know it's kind of a fun Pokemon to try out, but it doesn't have the bulk or the power to actually make a difference on any teams. I suggest replacing it with something that both helps your team cover up the problem it has with Fighting-types. Perhaps Rocky Helmet Garbador. With this, you can continue to run Spikes, you can have something that will Toxic the opposing team (something that I suggest you take off of Relcanth), and it can deal surprising damage to opposing teams. I suggest something like this:
Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Drain Punch
- Gunk Shot
- Toxic
Your team already has a ton of special walls, so full Defense investment is fine. Poison typing and Rocky Helmet often mean that Fighters will deal more to themselves than they will to you.
Good luck in the future, mang.

Thanks for the feed back. Even thou I love quill you are right that he can be replaced with something that can do more. I'll try your suggestion with relicanth and golurk aswell! :]

The problem with switching out quilladin for garbodor is that this team is basically swept or severely damaged with SD Feraligatr, especially those with EQ. IMO, this team doesnt have a whole lot of problems with fighting, as golurk, and duosion do a great job at handling those, while gurdurr can absorb a hit/take a knock off from sawk. Quilladin is actually a very underrated poke atm. It is surprisingly bulky and handles a good portion of the top tier threats like non sd shiftry, feraligatr, seismitoad and vileplume to name a few, and can either take them out or set up hazards. So I would say to keep it if you want to, but replace bulldoze with spiky shield and potentially seed bomb with wood hammer for more power. If you wanted a different hazard setter, Ferroseed does a great job as well in a similar role, with more bulk and less power. It also deals with slurpuff. Can also use Qwilfish as your spiker, but it has a good chance to die to slurpuff after rocks. But that will allow an intimidater to even better handle fighting and flying types. IMO, I wouldn't use garbodor on this team, but it can fill the spike role.

For a hazard setter that can take on the birds, mainly swellow and Archeops Im assuming, Rhydon fills the role. It has great stab attacks in earthquake and rock blast, is more physically and specially bulky than relicanth, can either phaze with roar or dragon tail to rack up hazards, or even run toxic/megahorn if you want. Sets up rocks too. You can run a specially defensive spread for archeops that run earth power (think spread is 252 HP/16atk/240 special defense), or run max hp max attack for power.

I would also consider Spiritomb > Golurk. I do not think that you necessarily need a spin blocker, as you have bulky enough poke to be able to reset hazards if need be it. However, with golurk, you lose to the best spinner in the tier, cryogonal. Spiritomb would be able to take a hit, while killing with either pursuit or sucker punch. Not quite sure what the standard non-crotomb set is, but you can go max attack max hp black glasses choosing from the five moves of sucker punch, pursuit, foul play, will-o-wisp and pain split.

I guess I would call this a semi-stall team. This team looks pretty good on paper, nice job! Welcome to Smogon.

Thanks for the feedback shuckle! I agree that Quill can take on alot of physical thearts. And it doesnt get spiky shield, which is unfortunate. :(

The rhydon suggestion does sound better honestly. It does sound better as it can take hits better on the special side

I chose golurk so I could have a bit more power but I will try your spiritomb suggestion

again thank you for your feed back :)
