First Defensive Team

Hi all guys, I'm back with a new team for the RU tier.
This time I thought to build a stall team, but then I noticed that I don't know how to build a stall team D:
So, the result has been this defensive team, now I'll explain how I built it and then I'll show u the movesets.

Building Phase:

The first pokemon for this team has been Uxie, a good defensive pokemon for this tier with his 130 base def and sp. def. That's why, at first, the team should be a stall team so I started from a defensive/utility pokemon.

Uxie has a good synergy with ghost type such as Spiritomb, because this type can act s a spinblocker, then Spiritomb is a good Taunt and WoW user. Uxie has, moreover, a good synergy with clerics, which gives a great help in all kind of team, that's why I choosed to include Togetic as third pokemon. Togetic has good defensive stats thanks to Eviolite, then can provide a defog support and, finally, has the fairy type to hit hard Druddigon, Flygon and Tyrantrum. At this "core" I decided to add Steelix-Mega. Why this choice? Well, first he has a great defensive synergy with other members, expecially with Togetic, then he is the best tank of the tier thanks to stats, type, moves and other things...

At this point I was thinking to a kind of "cleaner" and I thought to Virizion because he is one of the best offensive pokemon in the tier. Moreover he has a good synergy with other members. But at this point I noticed that fire types such as Emboar or Delphox could create me problems, so I decided to replace Spiritomb with Jellicent, which can use Taunt and WoW as the previous member, but he is a great bulky water pokemon. For the last member of the team, I saw that, even if the fight type in Virizion, steel type could give troubles to this team. So I choosed to add Magmortar just because he has a great movepool with a fantastic coverage, then he can take some special hit thanks to his Assault Vest set.

Movesets:
Sprxym480.gif

Uxie @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 192 SpD / 64 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Zen Headbutt
- Thunder Wave
- Knock Off

Even if Smogon shows his phisical defensive set, I choosed to use the same spread in a special defensive set, just because I have other members with a good def. Then, I choosed a Careful nature to allow him to do more damage with physical moves. Why? To have a knock off user in this team, because Uxie is the only member that can learn this move. This is why Zen Headbutt>Psyshock. The other moves are standard, with Stealth Rock and paralysis spam.
Sprxym640.gif

Virizion @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Synthesis/Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]

As I said in building phase, this was the "cleaner"of the team. Standard set and spread with the only doubt in Syntesis... I know that with Giga Drain I have the recover, but sometimes is useful to recover HP against a bulky grass, for example, and with Giga Drain I can't in a situation like this. On the other side, Calm Mind is a good idea for this team, because it's supposed that when Virizion comes into the battlefield, all the enemies are weakened or paralyzed, so he has all the time to setup a pair of Calm Mind and the sweep.
Sprxym176.gif

Togetic @ Eviolite
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Roost
- Defog
- Heal Bell

Also another standard set, nothing to say. STAB to hit dragon, fight and dark types, Roost to have a great recover, Defog to eliminate all the hazards and Heal Bell to heal all the team from status condictions.
Sprxymsh593.gif

Jellicent (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Scald

Like before, a standard set, nothing to say.
Sprrozam208M.gif

Steelix (F) @ Steelixite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Roar/???

Here I preferred a more defensive spread, also because Smogon says that this spread is better for defensive teams, and this should be a defensive team. The first two moves are ok, I'm not sure about Sthealt Rock, just because Uxie has this move too, but considering that I have a defog support and not a rapid spin, maybe a second setter could be useful... Maybe... Finally I choosed Roar as last move because I have to spam paralysis with Uxie and burn with Jellicent, I dont thnk that Toxic is a good idea, but tips are welcome.
Sprxymsh467.gif

Magmortar (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Vital Spirit
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast/Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Flame Charge

Here a more bulky set for my last pokemon, because I thought that if I spam paralysis I sould not need the 192 evs in speed, so I can raise his bulkyness in combination with the Assault Vest. Then, with the Flame Charge I can increase my speed if necessary. For the rest a standard set, just not sure about Flamethrower or Fire Blast.

So, this is the team, I hope u will enjoy in rating it :D
Thanks in advance to all the repliers.

Hey man, cool team and welcome to RU. Hopefully I can help you by recommending some changes to your team and some different sets!

110.png
Currently on this team you have two rockers, and two are definitely not needed. Your team lacks a venusaur switch in as uxie is quickly wittled down with knock off + sludge bombs from venusaur. The main venusaur switch ins consist of registeel/golbat and weezing. I would say that weezing fits in well in your team as it can also help in checking Virizion variants that can prove threatening. Therefore I would recommend weezing over uxie. Weezing has a decent way to maintain longetivity in pain split assisted by dual coverage in sludge bomb + flamethrower as well as will-o-wisp support weezing makes for a strong addition, between weakening physical attackers and checking special mons like venusaur and tangrowth.
655.png
Magmortar lacks the power, bulk, and speed tier to make it a strong special attacker in RU. Assault can help with bulk however it still severely struggle with power and the lacking speed tier. Delphox over Magmortar can works as a much better special fire attacker. Delphox's dual stab makes it a very threatening foe and can help in weakening bulky grasses like viriz, tang, venusaur, amoonguss and can often late game wallbreak with the calm mind set. Delphox also works over Magmortar as it can damage flygon with dazzling gleam, and hurt annoying bulky poisons/fighting mons such as golbat, hitmontop and gurdurr with psychic.
208-mega.png
Steelix should run toxic > roar on this team. Bulky waters like alomomola and slowking are almost guranteed to be the switch in to this mon and crippling them with status is a very big plus. Roar is primarily for phazing out mons or hazard stack which is not needed that much on this team. Also changing your current EV spread to 252 hp/96 Atk/76 Spd/84 Spe. This optimized set allows you to OHKO ttrum with eq after stealth rock damage, as well as switch outspeed uninvested base 40s. The spread you are currently using is not needed as I have added a spdef weezing to your team as well as having a jellicent which checks a multitude of special attackers with it's natural special bulk.
640.png
Currently you have a multitude of effective special attackers that should be enough, however are lacking physical mons. Finally I believe that a physical variant of virizion over special will be of more help as a cleaner over the special set. Physical Virizion is way more splashable on teams due to its ability to be very hard to check + combined with cm delphox this makes for a good core that can be very effective. Stone edge over zhb would be prefered on this team in removing threats like Sigilyph which can prove to be tedious for this team to handle as Jellicent lacks hex. Virizion will prove as your main source of fighting bulky waters and grounds therefore should be kept as a late game reserve for swords dance cleaning I recommend lum berry as burns can be worrysome for this mon.
Weezing @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Flamethrower
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Delphox @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Dazzling Gleam
- Fire Blast
- Psychic

Steelix @ Steelixite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Atk / 76 SpD / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam
- Toxic
- Earthquake

Virizion @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
Hope I helped with the changes and good luck with your team! :toast:

Hey, thank you for the rate.

I understand all ur changes, but I see that, in this way, I lack of Knock Off....
I made a phisical variant of Uxie just to have this move, in your opinion what can I do to have it? Maybe I can do without it?

Hi, if you do want to run knock off you can look at mons such as sneasel, absol, tangrowth, gurdurr, scrafty, venusaur, etc. However, I believe knock off is not of necessity on every team to be effective and your team would function better as it is. You can try running av tangrowth over virizion for that purpose, although swords dance virizion proves to be a better fit by functioning as a very splashable late game cleaner which your team appreciates a lot.
