So recently i was scrolling through Pokemon I have never tried before and i saw Mega Abomasnow sitting there like, I've never been used. So he is the supposed "Star" of the team. I saw that he actually lost speed upon mega evolving so i decided to run a reuniclus along with him to run trick room and went from there. As of now, I am stuck between 1300 and 1400 on showdown and need helping breaking that boundary. As you observe and rate my team, you will initially see a very and slow and bulky team and think, what a stall team. But then you see not a single toxic on anyone. For better or for worse?
So...

Reu is a very cool pokemon, and its ability is very, very helpful. With hazards a main stray in the competitive game today, he doesnt have to care about them whatsoever. As well, any burn or toxic he can take and that means no residual damage from anything!! The main problem with this pokemon is not enough move slots. This thing is just so so SO underrated. Hitting like a truck is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Like this thing literally is a wall breaker. With trick room up, he can sweep. Honestly, the only thing that can kill him is himself from recoil. I mean if you see a Swampert lurking while you are in, U-turn, and get off a clean 26% with initiative. But this thing can also eat brave birds, iron heads, and EQs. Plus you cannot parahacks this guys. ANother thing about Eel, he has great type coverage. He can almost anything super hard. I mean just look at this calc! "252+ Atk Choice Band Eelektross Wild Charge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cofagrigus: 123-145 (38.4 - 45.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery" - You may say, oh a 3HKO, but on a pokemon with 145 base defense, fully invested, is nothing to scoff at.
This team is no means perfect. And that is why I am posting it on here. I would like suggestions to help me get over the hump. Do i need a florges, to heal bell and wish? Do I need a noivern or jolteon, as you need some instance of speed on a trick room team? I dont know as this is my first ever. Decently successful but not good enough yet. This team is 100% on this inspiration of Mega Abo. Help and Suggestions appreciated. Thank You for your time.
- First I decided on Abomasnow, and decided trick room team. So i made Him quiet, make him slower plus not lower his attack so he can still take advantage of Ice Shard (Priority). I originally ran Ice Shard, Blizzard, Giga Drain and Synthesis, but through testing I decided on EQ over synthesis. I also run 248 hp (SR switch ins) and 8 att, max spa.
-
- Next I needed someone to set up the trick room, and the perfect pokemon for that is reuniclus. I started with quiet as well, and ran max hp and spa but after seeing mienshao tear me apart, i decided to run max hp and defense, bold. As well, i originally ran sash (?) but when i went with the defensive spread, I chose the offensive item with LO, perfect with Magic Guard. Moveset has always been trick room, shadow ball (Victini, Cofagrigus), psychic (psyshock?), and focus blast. Wish i had recovery though on this set.
- Since neither of my first 2 pokemon covered each others weaknesses, with the exception of Reu countering fighting, i needed a wall. I chose Tentacruel, as it covers a huge amount of Abomnasnows many weaknesses, steel, poison, ice, fire, fighting, AND bug. Plus, his weaknesses, mesh well as Abomasnow takes electric and ground hits, while Reuniclus counters psychic. His spread is common, max hp and spd, and i initially ran rapid spin, scald, sludge wave, and giga drain (swampert). Then i retracted as I HATE Forretress, so HP Fire, but reverted to original.
- Now i needed a physical wall and when i looked over it, all of his weaknesses were covered by the duo of Abo and tenta. I chose Hippowdon, talk about controlling the weather!! he walls one of the biggest threats in UU in Victini, has recovery in slack off, and is such a tank. His spread is max hp and def but i am reconsidering and would like a suggestiuons. Recently there have been so many special infernapes and victinis that can 2HKO Hip, and that is terrible considering how slow he is. Stealth rocks, slack off, EQ, and Stone edge is the moveset.
- So i have 2/3 of my team built, and only 1 physical attacker, which is bad as any well balanced team is split. So I want someone who will hit like a truck and work in a trick room team. The best out there, Mr. Hoodlum Scrafty. Scrafty is just too good to ignore. I decided to run Exp Belt (leftys?) and movie, with a brave nature and max hp and attack. i originally ran 4 attacking moves, Drain Punch, Ice Punch, Iron head, and Knock off, but decided to modify ice punch for bulk up, and iron head for detect (For HJK Mienshao, worth it?). Scrafty also counter 2/3 of Reu's weaknesses in dark and ghost, and EATS UP knock offs no problemo. 2/3 of his weaknesses are covered by reuniclus and tentacruel, but flying is still a devastating type out there with nothing to check it so..
- I ran through my final options, and saw nothing. Needed a physical attacker, not too quick (Do I need any speed whatsoever?), and something that could check flying types. 2nd time, still nothing. 3rd time truly is the charm as i found eelektross. Eelektross, with levitate, gave me a ground immunity so Abo doesnt have to take all the EQs. After checking his stats, in which i inputted max hp and attack, brave, i decided to choice band him which seems to work well. I equipped him with U-turn (initiative and banded+type diversity=better than volt switch), Drain Punch (recovery and coverage), wild charge, and originally aqua tail for ground types, but when i got rid of HP Fire, i added fire punch instead. Eelektross, as well checks steel types, ground types and flying types, and answers back by OHKOing many of them.
