Hey everyone! I've been playing in OU for years but never really ventured out of it much. I've played a bit of LC, UU and RU and that's about it. This is the first time I've made a competitive Ubers team and would really appreciate it if you all could help me out.
TEAM AT A GLANCE:
IN DEPTH:
Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 184 HP / 28 Def / 252 SpA / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Thunder
- Substitute
Xerneas acts as my wincon. It has a standard set. I use it for late game sweeping. Moonblast is because it gets ridiculously powerful after a geomancy boost combined with Fairy Aura. Thunder is for coverage and to utilise the rain when facing Kyogre. Substitute helps me avoid status and being revenge killed.
Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- King's Shield
- Shadow Sneak
- Iron Head
After realising how big off a monster Xerneas is I decided that I needed a counter for opposing ones. Aegislash can take any hit from a geomancy boosted Xerneas and hit really hard with iron head. Shadow Sneak is there to finish off weakened pokemon, especially Xerneas'. King's Shield allows me to rack up lefties recovery and at the same time reducing opposition attack stat, which allows me to set up with ease. I replaced Zekrom with this.
Gengar @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Taunt
- Destiny Bond
- Sludge Wave
- Protect
Gengar is great as it traps and kills pokemon which counter Xerneas and allows it to sweep. The volturn combo allows it to come in fairly easily. Taunt for stall breaking purposes and Destiny Bond to take down pokemon which Gengar would usually not be able to. Sludge Wave as an excellent stab and focus blast to deal with steel types.
Groudon @ Red Orb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Lava Plume
- Rock Slide
Primal Groudon is my rock setter and acts as a secondary check/counter to Xerneas. Earthquake acts as a powerful stab that usually 2HKOES Xerneas or bring it down to the range of a Shadow Sneak KO from either Aegislash or Giratina. Lava Plume acts as a secondary stab but its main purpose is to spread status to a certain extent as a lack somebody that can do that. Rock Slide helps form a quakedge combo. I am wondering whether or not to replace rock slide with toxic. Any help regarding that would be much appreciated. I replaced Magnezone for this guy.
Ho-Oh @ Choice Band
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 208 Atk / 52 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Sacred Fire
- Earthquake
- Sleep Talk
I replaced Ylveltal for this. This guy is purely there for punching holes in the opposition so Xerneas can come in and sweep. Sacred Fire gives me high chance of burning mons if not out right OHKOing them. Brave Bird as a secondary stab with Earthquake for coverage. Sleep Talk helps with the lack of a Darkrai check.
Arceus-Ghost @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Timid Nature
- Judgment
- Recover
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp
This was my replacement for Giratina. I knew that since I was running Ho-Oh, I needed a reliable defogger. Arceus not only does that but also acts as this teams physical wall while Pdon maintains the special side. His task is made easier as he has access to Will-O-Wisp. Judgement is there for weakening pokemon or taken out weakened mons and also so that I am not taunt bait. Recover is useful in letting me repeat the same process multiple times.
Well, that's it. Please replace any pokemon, moves or sets you wish. I hope it's not too bad. Thanks in advance! Sorry about all the changes!
