Hi, so after getting into competitive battling fairly recently I decided I would make a RMT thread. I know there are a few problems with the team which i will explain a bit later, but I am unsure of what should be changed/replaced. All advice will be take on board.
My team consists of:
- Deoxys-s
- Skarmory
- Vaporeon
- Scizor
- Terrakion
- Dragonite
I would consider this team more of a bulky offence type team, where once my main sweepers set up they just wreck.
Team and Sets
Deoxys-S @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Psychic
Deoxys is my lead for this team. Fairly standard type set i'd day, decided to run Psychic instead of something like magic coat so i can still deal damage if I need to. Rocky Helmet is for residual damage on opposing pokes. I usually taunt if the opposing lead is going to set up stealth rocks, set up my own and get out of there. Works all right I am considering switching to another lead although which I have not figured out yet.
Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird
- Roost
My Physical wall. Comes in to take most of the common hits like bullet punch and outrage etc. Can set up spikes if I need to and can whirlwind opposing pokes out to get hazard damage. Brave Bird to take out Opposing fighting types and roost to regain health.
Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Rest
- Ice Beam
- Roar
My special wall. Vaporeon takes moves such as shadow ball and Fire Blast extremely well. Walls most physical attackers. I am thinking of changing Hydro Pump to Scald or Surf as Hydro Pumps accuracy has failed me often. Much like Skarmory I use roar to get hazard damage and break focus sashes.
Scizor (M) @ Iron Plate
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Atk / 160 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
Absolute BOSS. With some good prediction i can set up a swords dance and hit very hard with Bullet Punch. U-turn when bad match ups occur. This set works quite well. Can also revenge Kill with bullet punch.
Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef / 2 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- X-Scissor
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
Choice banded Terrakion is a monster. With good prediction i can take down psychic types with x-scissor and hit anything else hard with CC, EQ or Stone Edge. Unfortunately I am still learning most of the common sets and my predictions are pretty poor, so I just end up switching into an unfavourable matchup and fainting. Im not sure whether this is the best choice for this team.
Dragonite (F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- ExtremeSpeed
My main Sweeper on this team. Lum Berry cures the status/confusion from Outrage. If I am confident with the match up I can set up a DD and begin to sweep with Outrage and Fire Punch. Extreme speed is for if i dont get a DD up and need to outspeed to take the poke out, or to revenge kill.
So thats a rundown on my team and how it plays really. I have trouble taking out Jirachi and other walls that stop my team down, and being a newer player I struggle to make the correct switch ins.
Thanks for reading all advice will be taken.
cheers
