XY OU First OU Team

Breloom (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 30 SpA
- Spore
- Focus Punch
- Drain Punch
- Thunder Punch
Breloom is here to be a physical sweeper and put problems to sleep. Thunder punch is coverage against a sleeping Talon or even a Gyrados. Drain punch is to heal a bit while the toxic orb and poison heal are there to increase Loom's longevity. Evs are the way they are because I want to hit hard and a bit faster than Loom's speed allows.. Also Jolly because more speed.

Greninja (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse
- Extrasensory

Greninja is here for stab and type maneuvering to hopefull escape awful hits. Dark pulse and ice beam are good coverage and scald has the burn chance. Not quite sure if I need extrasensory but I can't seem to find a decent replacement. Same reasons as Loom for evs.

Espeon (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Magic Bounce
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Morning Sun
- Light Screen
- Psychic
- Reflect

Espeon is my set up. With light clay to extend reflect and light screen with psychic to deal damage if I get taunted and morning sun to heal if I am in trouble to try and keep Espeon around longer. Tempted to replace morning sun with wish but I am not quite sure yet. Evs are to ensure that I get my screens up quickly so I take minimum damage and I can live few hits.

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Power Whip

My set up. Everyone knows how this Pokemon works. Stealth rock is set up obviously with leech seed to drain health while healing me and dealing damage. Protect is to buy me another turn of healing from Leech Seed and leftovers. Power whip is so I am not taunt bait and hits pretty hard. Evs are to try and live a super effective hit.

Mawile (M) @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Spe
Serious Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch

Mega Mawile has such insane attack I can't help but run Swords Dance to make it even more incredible. With a Swords Dance up I can Sucker Punch almost anything I know is going to attack. Play Rough and Iron head quickly become insanely powerful moves and knock out anything I need them to basically. Heatran is kind of a nuisance though since I don't have anything for it yet but it can run Earth Power and numerous fire attacks that hurt Mawile.. Suggestions?

Dragonite (M) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Extreme Speed

Dragonite is one of my favourite Pokemon and I love this set on him. Weakness Policy + a Dragon Dance first turn basically turns him into a sweeping machine. Multiscale helps him live that super effective hit if there are no entry hazards.. But after that Earthquake and Dragon Claw can handle anything without a priority move and that is where Extremespeed comes in. I love my Dragonite but I am unsure of Evs since I want it to live that first and likely ice attack yet be able to KO something that knows Ice Shard right after with Extremespeed..

Notice that I also don't have status moves or a spinner to deal with spikes and stealth rocks.. Any suggestions on what to fit in? I am new to battling and need all the help I can get.. Any recommendations? I am open to any and all criticism, thanks!

Breloom @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed

- Spore

Greninja is ok. Espeon can run a offensive set over dual screen support.

Espeon @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power [Fighting] or Fire
- Psyshock
- Dazzling Gleam
On Ferrothorn, use Gyro Ball > Power Whip w/ negative speed. MMaw dont need 2 STAB's, use Fire Fang(sorry lol) > Play Rough/Iron Head. You can run Lum Berry > WP on DNite for status users, like Chansey n Ferro. Hope I helped :)

Thanks! Will try the Loom and after reading some other threads I am tempted to replace Espeon with Gothitelle. Any suggestions for a moveset on MMaw? DNite I kinda prefer the weakness policy. Lum berry I agree is good but on a wall he will get statused again next turn if I can't sweep it. I like having the 2.5x attack and 1.5x speed first turn because I will almost always live a super effective move. Good suggestion on Ferrothorn I will try that.

Hey there quick idea but Maybe you can consider Mandibuzz as opposed to Espeon. It can give your team some special bulk and screens aren't really needed for your team seeing as how your set up sweeper either has a built in screen (D-Nite's Multiscale) or is bulky enough to live a hit, it also allows you to deal with hazards that hinder you through defog also it can give you toxic as a status.

Mandibuzz @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
Evs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
or
248 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Nature: Impish or Careful
Moves:
Foul Play
Toxic
Roost
Defog

This gives your team some defense besides Ferrothorn.

Also put Fire Fang on your Mawile as it can bait in Skarm and do enough damage to ease your D-Nite's sweep which I'm assuming is the main focus of the team, you could also run a different mega as D-Nite and Mawile are playing the same roles.

With everything else I agree with the above poster, though D-Nite is your preference.

Replace Scald on Greninja with Hydro Pump, it needs all the power it gets to secure KOs. Also change its nature to Timid to beat Gengar.

Also, is there a reason why Mawile has a Serious Nature?

Don't use WP on Dnite, it's a bad item in general. Dnite just dies to too many things e.g. LO Greninja can KO through Multiscale with Ice Beam. Lum berry is always better to avoid getting burned or paralyzed.

Thanks for all the help! Hydro Pump does get me more KO's that are very needed on my team thank you! The extra speed from the Timid nature is quite nice as well! Mawile had a Serious Nature because I had forgotten to change it to adamant to get even more power. Also the Mandibuzz has won me a few matches already! Great physical wall and Foul Play is amazing against annoying swords dancers! Thanks for the suggestions I also changed Dnite's item to a Lum Berry. Hasn't come in handy yet but I did miss Weakness Policy when I lived a Stone Edge.. I am going to continue to battle with it and see how it plays out but the suggestions so far are working out really well for me. As for the Mawile it is doing well with Fire Fang getting rid of Ferrothorn and Skarmory as you predicted. Having trouble with Grenina however but he is a tricky one to counter. Also I like the Loom but it doesn't hit hard enough for me to KO much of anything I spore.. Any other suggestions for a Loom or? Thanks for all the help!

For Breloom you could try a Life Orb, but the problem is you can only take down slower Pokemon due to not having a Guaranteed Spore to Rock Tomb a Pokemon. Your other choice would probably be SubToxic with Toxic Orb and Leech Seed, Drain Punch/Focus Punch, and Protect. Focus Sash is probably as offensive as you can get for Breloom to be reliable.

Also your team has a Fire Weakness (Mawile, Breloom, Ferrothorn) so you might want to find something to counter that. Can't think of any good ones off the top of my head though, sorry.

Breloom seems like a weak link right now but it is my only check to Greninja with Mach Punch or a Spore and then Mach Punch/Bullet Seed due to Focus Sash.. As for the Fire Weakness I have felt that in a few battle but not too many since my Dnite and Greninja resist although Greninja isn't too bulky to stay in for long.. Mandibuzz can tank a majority of hits but not everything.. Flare Blitz from Talonflame has been a huge issue. I was thinking of maybe switching out Dragonite with Garchomp? The only qualm I have with that is I sacrifice my priority move E-Speed which I used for revenge killing a lot. I have Mach Punch on Breloom but as noted before he goes down quite quickly. Garchomp does have a higher base speed though and if I give him a Jolly nature I can boost that even more but I will miss the extra power behind that revenge kill from an Adamant Dnite.. Any suggestions? Here's an update of what my team looks like:
Breloom (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 30 SpA
- Spore
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Rock Tomb

Greninja (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 SpA
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory
- Dark Pulse

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD

IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Gyro Ball

Mawile (M) @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Fire Fang
- Sucker Punch

Dragonite (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw

Careful Nature
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Toxic
- Defog
Once again thanks for all the help guys my battling has really improved after following the suggestions posted here!

You could replace Breloom with Conk. You lose your spore user but you retain your fighting type and priority. And with assault vest you get a bulkier team over all as well. Conk is also a really good stop to Rotom W as well as a status absorber.

Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Spe
Nature: Adamant
Moves:
Drain Punch
Mach Punch
Ice Punch/Thunder Punch/Poison Jab
Knock Off

The spore of brelooms is nice however it stacks common type weaknesses in Fire and Flying.

Once again you are right! I will try it out although I have already tried replacing my Loom with Wash Rotom and things aren't going too badly. Unfortunately with the ban of MMwile I am looking for a new fairy killer but the spot is open to anything.

Gonna have to go with Mega Scizor. Your Rotom will block Fire attacks then. I think any offensive set for Scizor will work.

Also with the ban of Aegislash Dark Pulse on Greninja is more useless, put in HP Fire or Grass for coverage against Scizor/Ferrothorn or Rotom-W respectively.

Heatran would be a good addition to the team in my modest opinion. Ferrothorn baits fire moves for you to switch into and it's a very good pokemon overall, it also walls fairies like Clef and Garde.

Offensive Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 24 Atk / 228 SAtk / 252 Spe
Nature: +Spe, -Def
Moves:
Fire Blast
Earth Power
Stone Edge
Flash Cannon/Hidden Power Ice

Defensive Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SDef / 8 Spe
Nature: +SDef, -Atk
Moves:
Lava Plume
Will-o-wisp/Toxic/Stone Edge/Flash Cannon
Roar
Protect/Substitute

Offensive Heatran is to get the jump on people as they're not expecting it.
Defensive Heatran is standard.

I'm not certain which fits your team better at the moment (it's been a long day). I just feel Heatran is a great addition.
